This is a collection of various texts on or by Gauguin. There are some articles that appeared on him in his lifetime, some letters written by him, reviews written on his works, and other various texts. The quality is what you'd expect from a collection of such wide-ranging authors. Some texts are more tolerable, others you have to force yourself through.
The whole book is in a chronological order. It is an alternative biographical treatment, and adequate at that. You get an idea of what Gauguin's life and personality was like.
Selection of his works is decent, and images are of good quality and size. Altogether an enjoyable read.
