Nothing Is Without Future

Rate this book
Award-winning lyric poems that tell a love story — actually two love stories — about a young man who is torn between two women. The first, an alluring brunette, offers an easy-going romance that has no future. The other, a woman with malachite green eyes, puts him through an emotional wringer, but holds out the possibility of a lasting relationship. In the process, the young man experiences love in all its aspects, from passion to melancholy, ecstasy to anguish, and ultimately serenity. Full of striking and sensual images, Piero Rivolta’s poetry reflects his appreciation for beauty wherever he finds it — in women, falling snow, sunsets, Mediterranean cities and the sea.

Born in Desio, Italy in 1941, Piero earned a doctorate in mechanical engineering from the Politecnico di Milano at age 24. Two years later, after his father’s unexpected death, he became the world’s youngest CEO of a car manufacturing firm, Iso Rivolta. Beginning in the 1940s, the company designed and built motorcycles and the popular egg-shaped, front-door Isetta bubble car. Until Rivolta sold it in 1972, when the golden age of the small, independent Italian car manufacturer ended, he continued to develop and produce various models. Among them were the highly esteemed Iso Rivolta GT, the famous Grifo luxury sports car and the Formula 1 racecar, the Iso Rivolta Marlboro.

In addition to his writing and work in the automobile industry, Piero has raised jumping horses in Italy, run a spinning mill in Brazil and engaged in real estate development in Europe, Central America and the United States.

Deeply involved in the arts, Rivolta helps to organize many cultural events, and is cofounder and president of the annual La Musica chamber music festival in Sarasota, Florida, where he resides.
