Re-reading these poems now for the third time. They're as good as I remember them. Many more "wow" moments for me than I find in the average Charles Simic collection since the 1970s. Good is one of our best contemporary minimalist surrealists. Here's a quote (from "Recessionary Times"):
notwithstanding the tall buildings, it's spring by the calendar
and lewd as the hot, blue tongue of an acetylene torch.

I couldnt even finish it. Some of the language and images were nice, but it was all so laden with cliches that I couldnt make it through the whole thing.
