Helping Hands

Clean It!

Rate this book
Which chores need doing today? What's the best way of doing them? And who's going to help? Helping with real tasks is a natural progression from pretend play, and is a crucial stage in a child's development. Achieving a shared goal encourages a sense of responsibility, and develops many skills useful in later life. Simple conversational text and lively illustrations are carefully designed to encourage further dialogue between reader and child.

I live and work in the beautiful hilly town of Lewes, near Brighton with my husband, two sons and two cats. I have made lots of children’s books, working with many publishers including PenguinRandomHouse, Macmillan and Bloomsbury. Making children's books is the best job ever and so fun, I knew this would be my job even when I was in primary school!

I personally do not at all enjoy the 3 year old stream of conscious style of these books. Maybe because I get enough toddler monologues all day long...

Sometimes I picked these books, sometimes my boys did. My kids really liked the book, especially since they do help out a LOT with our daily tasks. I loved the illustrations and the concept. The pictures are colorful and the families are multi-ethnic, with all skin colors represented as friends, spouses, grandparents, children, shopkeepers, etc. Read more ....
