Are You Game #1

7 Minutes In Heaven

Rate this book
7 Minutes is never enoughWhen you’re building a business as the ultimate adult games party planner, you don’t have time for games in real life but that’s the problem Cassandra Moreland has when she butts heads with security expert Lucas Wilhem.Lucas is a six foot five wall of testosterone and a thorn in her side for wanting to shut her VIP party down early and she’s not about to let him interfere without a fight, even if he is the first guy in a long time to get her heart racing and her palms sweating.Lucas can’t believe the pint-sized brunette is ready to go toe to toe with him. He’s used to having his instructions obeyed without question, but Cassie has bigger balls than most guys he knows. The tightening in his groin and the pounding in his head has nothing to do with anger and everything to do with sexual interest. The kind of interest that deserves a whole weekend of party games to explore. This story features wet t-shirts, steamy sex and beads—but not the kind you think.

Holy hell can Rhian Cahill write some steamy, raunchy, lust filled, gotta have it now sex! 7 Minutes in Heaven by Rhian Cahill begins at one of the parties from the Party Games series, a few of the players from those books are mentioned and there is a very short scene with another. This book is part of the Are You Game series, a spin-off of the original series. 7 Minutes is longer in length, allows us more time to enjoy the characters, and is an amazingly sexy and pleasure filled romp from the very first chapter.

Cassandra (Cassie) Moreland is a party planner extraordinaire who has recently expanded into adult themed parties but when she butts heads with security expert Lucas (Luc) Wilhelm the sparks fly and they can’t seem to keep their lips and body parts to themselves. When Luc suggests a deal where they each get to control the other for a 24 hour period, Cassie agrees but it’s not what you expect this isn’t some M/s arrangement, it’s simply a way for them to get to know one another better.

These two fell into an easy relationship and although they moved quickly there was just something so right about them being together. No matter what the situation; an adult games party, a child’s princess birthday party, dinner at home, or working in her shop they just couldn’t seem to stop touching and I loved it. It was nice seeing two people so hot for one another that they forgot where they were or who was around. I also loved how they began to discover the little things about the other and even though their quick feelings scared them, they were able to work though them and move forward. There wasn’t any game playing, there wasn’t any big blow up; this couple solved their issues by communication and their need for one another.

Without a doubt, 7 Minutes In Heaven is a simply scrumptious start to a sizzling new series. While there is a lot of sexual contact in this book, it is about learning to trust, moving forward, and building a relationship past the first rush of lust.

Loved this first book in the spin-off of the Party Games series. Cass and Luc started with instant attraction and worked their way, albeit reluctantly on Cass's side, to a HEA. I love Rhian's writing and with 7 MINUTES it was no different. This being said I did find that this book didn't grip me emotionally as her other books have. Nonetheless the steamy sexy part more than made up for that.

Fave Quote:
“Cass,” he whispered as he moved closer. “I’m the man who’s going to bring you to your knees.”

This was my first time reading Rhian Cahill and I was really excited because she’s an Aussie Author. If you’ve read any of my reviews before, I regularly go to AA to get my “Aussie Author” fix! The cover of this book is by far one of my favorite covers. Sexy without being too revealing. I think that’s a good euphemism for 7 Minutes in Heaven. It was sexy without being too revealing. Yes, the sex is listed in graphic depiction but there was enough between the two main characters emotions that left you to form your own thoughts on the relationship. More than anything I thought it was a sweet depiction of a woman who’s afraid to love and a man who’s determined to prove that love isn’t a bad thing when it’s with the right person.

Some of my favorite bits from the novel are italicized:

“Hearing her scream when he made her climax would be music to his ears. A symphony he couldn’t wait to conduct.”

I appreciate that description so much. It made me fall in love with the leading man for something besides his big, strong, sexy as sin body.

“I can’t hold it in any longer, Cass. I know you’re not ready to hear what I have to say, but I’m not expecting anything more than you’re willing to give. Shit. I’ll take any scrap you’ll throw my way.”

Wouldn’t you just die to have a man tell you that? To want you so much that he’ll take whatever scraps you offer. Does our heroine Cassie feel the same? Is she still hiding behind work and an old heartbreak? You’ll have to read to find out!

Overall I enjoyed this novel and my first experience reading Ms. Cahill. I look forward to reading more of her work in the future and the second in the “Are You Game?” series.

I've been waiting for so long to read Luc and Cassie's story in 7 Minutes in Heaven by one of my favorite Aussie authors, Rhian Cahill and I freaking loved it! OMG! Luc was sex on a stick and when he and Cassie were in the same room, they just sizzled and nearly torched my iPad. LOL! I sure wouldn't mind playing this adult game. They had amazing chemistry together and it was not just the sexual chemistry between them. I enjoyed their playful bantering and the dare they made with each other. I could not stop chuckling, along with Cassie, as she sprung her surprise on Luc and told him what he had to do. Seeing how a tough bodyguard handled that situation just made him even more sexy and *swoon* worthy in my eyes. I liked that Cassie was a strong heroine and that she was not afraid to express herself. On the outside, they seemed total opposites even with their career choices but they actually complemented each other well. What a fabulous start to a new series and I cannot wait to read the next book.

Love the firey chemistry between Luc and Cassie!!

With the box set coming out, now seemed a good time to reread for this series. Originally purchased, read and loved back in 2013 and this reread proved the story still holds up!

Thinking I need to go back and reread Spin the Bottle (Party Games) where we first meet Cassie & Luc.

Great read & loved the story!

I'd read Lily's book so had an idea of the setting & characters, without that I may have been a little lost as it starts mid party with little explanation. It definitely leans action heavy over plot but there is plot there and progress on an emotional level is made in the background

Are you Game?

Directions: How to play 7 minutes in heaven

This is a fun-filled game for adults over the age of 18 - Do try this at home - Highly recommended!

Players 1-many, 2 players for optimum quality

Step 1- Find another player. This player could be the irritating guy who has made it hard for you to do your job at the party, the handsome security personnel that throws out your party goers, or even the one you have completely fallen for - this works best when they are all the same guy - and in this cause his name would be Lucas.

Step 2- Locate a door. This door could belong to a pantry, a closet, a bedroom, anything as long as it's private, dark, and not occupied. The nearest door is most likely the best choice.

Step 3- Once in this room, feel free to yell out your frustrations with said man, climb his body, have a life altering, mind bending, toe curling kiss, or even make mad wild passionate love to him. This is your choice but doing all three is highly recommended.

Step 4- You will need to learn to let your guard down and enjoy yourself. All work and no play can make for a dull girl (Cassandra).

So enjoy yourself and play away!

Warning: Once you have spent 7 Minutes in Heaven things will never be the same! You will crave more - the fun filled, passionate time spent together will leave you wanting to play more of these adult party games at Are You Game? So get ready... This is not one of the same games you played when you were 10... Oh no, these are much more exciting and the stakes are much higher.

Cassandra has been an "all work, no real play girl" trying to make her new "adult" party game business take off. All her hard work is finally paying off. She has clients booking and parties planned. Now if she could just deal with the "tall dark and handsome," annoying security at her current party.

Cassandra is no pushover. She has had to learn to stick up for herself and when Lucas tries to tell her what to do she does something he never expected, she yells at him and shuts him down. Excited beyond belief, Lucas must battle with her again, only this time he thinks a more private battle of the tongues would be better.

Once Cassandra and Lucas come up for air they strike a deal of a lifetime with each other... 24 hours to be the boss... anything goes. The 48 hours consists of cupcakes, beads, walks on the beach, and breakfast along with HOT SWEATY SEX!

After the 48 hour deal is up can they go back to normal? Do they even want to? I thoroughly enjoyed this first installment of Are You Game! It was a funny, lustful, passionate, sexy read and I can't wait for the next game ;)

I had never read any of Cahill’s work before, so I was kinda excited to read about a party planner and sexy security officer. Unfortunately, while this book was SUPER hot, there wasn’t much else to keep me excited about reading.

Cassandra loves her job as a party planner, and she is damn good at it. She thinks of everything, plans for everything, and is 100% devoted to work. But at one party she keeps running into the sexy Lucas, and their attraction is off the charts. Cassandra is determined to stay away from him, but she can’t seem to keep her hands to herself.

Lucas loves his job, but something about Cassandra keeps pulling his mind from security and onto her. The attraction is undeniable, but after just a day in her company, Lucas wants so much more than just a roll between the sheets. But Cassandra is completely focused on her business, so Lucas will have to go above and beyond to show her just how great they can be together.

I really wanted to love this book, but I have to say, there just wasn’t enough plot for me. I would say that about 90% of this book is all sex, and while those sex scenes are pretty darn hot, I needed more actual story. I felt like this novella moved extremely quickly from the insta-lust phase to the I-love-you phase. For me there wasn’t anything substantial to enjoy about the characters and their situation.

I did enjoy the set up of Cassandra’s business. I think the party-planning theme is super fun, and I loved that Cahill took us from a super sexy adult party with naked people to a cute and innocent princess party. The different parties gave the novella time to change gears and do a little lighthearted moment between all the naked time.

However, I have to admit that the little kid party was one of the only scenes in which Lucas and Cassandra were not naked together, and it just wasn’t enough. I have a very difficult time believing in a character’s happily ever after if they have only spent a few hours together talking about something other than sex. It just doesn’t work from me in the romance department, and I struggle with not only my enjoyment level, but also the believability.

All in all I thought this was a very sexy book, but unfortunately it just didn’t work for me. If readers are looking for a extra hot, short story, than this should be one they check out. However, if you are like me and need a little more plot to go with your erotica, this might be a book you want to skip.
I give 7 Minutes in Heaven a C-.

4.5 Stars 7 Minutes in Heaven

Cassandra Moreland ‘Cassie’ as she is better known has worked hard and sacrificed a lot to build her company ‘Are You Game?’ to where it is now.

Lucas Wilhelm ‘Luc’ has been head of McDermott Security for 10 years. Luc is the best at what he does and prides himself on his professionalism and ability to stay in control.

Cassie and Luc paths cross when she agrees to host an adult party for her best friend. Luc is the tall drink of muscle that keeps getting in her way and trying to control everything. Well she is not having it!! Luc has been bought in by his boss to cover security for a party, it has been a long time since anyone has been able to break through his defenses but the sexy little woman catering the party is managing to do just that.
A stolen moment leaves Luc knowing he needs more and when the opportunity arises he jumps in and dares Cassie with a proposition, neither one like talking the orders so to settle things they each have 24 hrs to give the orders and other must comply. But when the sparks are flying and emotions are taking hold will Cassie be willing to let down her guard and let Luc in.

I really enjoyed reading 7 Minutes in Heaven the story was great and the characters were real. I look forward to reading the next installment in this series.

I have my own sliding scale of ratings for 'serious' books vs fluff vs smutty romances. For fluff and smut I go with my gut instinct and how much I enjoy the characters and plot, or lack thereof. So even some shakier grammar or e-publishing poor edits and missing words may rate a 4 or 5, which I'd be far less forgiving of in bound print versions. This is Book 1 in a trio but I read Book 3 first for whatever reason (Red Light, Green Light). I liked it, because I'm a sucker for male pov on unrequited love/past mistakes. But I didn't love it and gave it 3 stars after debating 2. This one though. Wow. Definitely 4 stars. Cassie and Luc deserved more in their brief Book 3 appearances which made him seem like a monosyllabic cretin and she wasn't much more dimensional. Yet this one even sets West up nicely for his feature.
The intro was a bit clunky but once the story got rolling, I was in. Knowing where their relationship ends up by #3 I did lose most "suspense", but there was still a bit of wondering how they'd arrive at that point. Loved this one enough to give Book 2 a shot in future!

This is an offshoot of the Party Games series, which was fun and sweet. This one is fun and sweet as well. The girl who ran the adult-themed games, Cassandra, goes toe-to-toe with McDermott Security’s Lucas. Lucas is normally unaffected by the women around him, but there’s something different about Cassie and he has to figure it out. So after an impromptu game of 7 Minutes in Heaven, he offers a challenge -- he’ll do what she says for 24 hours if she’ll do the same. She takes him up on it, thinking she can scare him off with a 6-year-old’s princess-themed birthday party the next day, but he has all the little girls wrapped around his finger (Prince Charming), just as he’s made Cass do. But the weekend isn’t over. And while Cass thinks she doesn’t have time for relationships -- she’s building her business -- Lucas’ work is cut out for him to prove that she does, if it’s with him.

Very sweet, some steamy parts, and a satisfying HEA.

I really loved this book. It's the first time I've read one of Rhian Cahill's novels but it won't be the last. 7 Minutes in Heaven is steamy, and the sexual tension, followed by hot, sparking love scenes was amazing. Luc and Cassie are both fabulous characters and I loved the way they interacted with each other. It was fun to watch them verbally spar. I've obviously been reading the wrong type of erotica in the past, because I was getting tired of the 'I've come to clean the pool' followed by bow chica wow wow, which was just about sex and no story. 7 Minutes in Heaven is nothing like that. It has two feisty characters who want their own way and I loved getting to know them. The emotions in the story were real and the whole story gripped me - I had to read it in a single sitting. I am definitely adding more Rhian Cahill books to my 'to read' list.

This story was a definite scorcher with plenty of sweet thrown in. Loved the main characters Cassie & Luc. These two just could not keep their hands off each other... which made for lots of hot steamy sex ;)

Also enjoyed watching the progression of their relationship take place. Loved their interactions and chemistry. Although these two were going at it like rabbits I was glad there was a lot more to their relationship than just sex. I adored that outside the bedroom they were a genuine couple just hanging out, watching movies, cuddling, eating dinner together and just getting to know each other.

Overall, 7 Minutes in Heaven was super sexy, sweet & light and certainly an erotic contemporary romance that I would highly recommend.

Cass is a party coordinator, and she's holding an adult party when the head of security for her client goes head to head against her. There is a strong attraction between the two but they're both used to being in charge. Luc dares Cass to each do everything the other says for 24hrs.

What a great book. Mathis one is set in Australia. The connection between Luc and Cass is immediate a palpable all through the book. The author has created and expressed their feelings for each other in such strong detail you can't help but be sucked into the book and feeling all the emotions along with the characters.

This is the first book by Rhian Cahill that I've read and all I can say is WOW! You can bet that I'll be reading more of this author's books. 7 Minutes In Heaven (Are You Game?) is skillfully written and captivated me from the first to the last page. The developing romance between the main characters was amazing. And the sex scenes... intense, passionate, and hot!

An extremely HOT book from Rhian Cahill! I love the party business that Cass runs, and Luc being a bodyguard, but it wasn't the main focus. The main part of the book was Luc trying to get Cass to see that a relationship didn't usurp running her business. If this book was any indication, the next two are going to be scorching as well!
