A detailed and clear description of how railroads work. Recommended to me by someone who works in the industry. Not a history, a description of the railroad system from soup to nuts.

A basic primer on everything on a modern railroad you can think of, everything from track work to how cars are ordered to routing and basic day to day operations. I learned a great deal from this book, enough to order my own copy.
