Great for counting with very young children but if you’re expecting the charm of “just one more thing,” found in her other books, you will be disappointed.
It wasn’t at all what I was expecting (a cute story similar to If You Give a Mouse a Cookie), it was a very simple counting book. Still well illustrated and educational but lackluster.
Synopsis:"Join Mouse from "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" as he decorates his Christmas tree in a holiday counting adventure."
My Review: This is a very simple book for the holiday season. Mouse is decorating his tree and counts the different types of ornaments he is adding to the tree. There really isn't a story line more of just a counting book which may be a little too brief for older children but possibly a good one for those just learning to read on their own. Still love the classic If You Give a Mouse a Cookie illustration style.
Mouse is back from If You Give A Mouse A Cookie and he is ready to decorate and celebrate Christmas. He is trying to decorate his Christmas tree and he needs help. This is a counting book as he goes through all of the different things he wants to put on his tree.
This book is great for children who are learning how to count. While they are counting they are also being entertained by a great story from a character they are already familiar with. It is exciting to see how Mouse's tree comes together at the end.
Mouse counts up from 1 to 10 as he hangs Christmas ornaments on the tree. Both the numeral and the written word for each number are given.
I felt like the robot and rocket ornaments were a nod to cartoon episode "Max and Ruby's Christmas Tree" in which Max wants to hang his toys on the Christmas tree.
Either the publisher or the author was told to keep it short, because this book felt like it was being phoned in. VERY simple counting book with no adjectives or further details. Could have been very cute to describe each counting object with unique or silly adjectives. Two of the items were not even Christmas related. Those items could have been more random or described in crazy ways for a laugh. Wish moose or pig had made a cameo to give a silly look and add a laugh. The end was fun (hence the second star in my rating). Ehh, not sure even toddlers will request this one too many times.
This is really just an extremely basic counting book. Mouse only appears on a few pages and the rest of the pages simply show a tree with increasing numbers and styles of ornaments. Perhaps little ones who want everything “Mouse” will enjoy it (though I know I would have felt disappointed not to see him on every page) but I think that there are far better Christmas board books and counting books out there.
Mouse is such a cute well loved character. This Christmas counting book has beautiful illustrations and full color in each detail. Kids will love how simple and full of life the drawings are. They will relate to decorating this cute Christmas tree with mouse. Beautiful children's classic. Recommend to all children learning to count and learning to read or loves being read to.
E got this from a book gift exchange in his class. When I first saw it I was like NOOOO because I saw glitter on it and I’m still feeling some kind of way from getting glitter embedded in my eyeball. But the inside is really well done. Not too much nonsense filler art. I feel like a lot of books just do too much and the padres are two busy. These were clear and easy to focus on.
Browsing books to give my friends' children as gifts since I won't gift anything I haven't first read myself.
This is a good mix of Christmas and counting for the preschool Mouse audience. A couple of the tree decorations were a bit odd, but I imagine kids will be less affected by that than I am. This will make it under their Christmas tree at some point.
1,2,3... A great counting book for beginner readers and young children. This is a cute counting story about Mouse putting up Christmas decorations on the tree. This book is unlike Laura Numeroff's other books! A counting book is always great especially for younger children.
The Give a Mouse a Cookie Mouse is back in this holiday themed counting board book. Mouse begins the process of decorating his tree. Each page shows the ornament and number added up to ten before a funny conclusion. Easy to engage young readers who will grab on to this predictable counting text,
A funny Christmas story for young kids, just not a lot of great content or anything that stands out especially in comparison to other Laura Joffe Numero books.
My 7 year old got to read this book to his little brother while I made him add the numbers from every page. It was great to test math skills and reading skills.
This is just a number count book. Mouse decorates the Christmas tree from 1-10 the to 100. I think it would have been cuter if it was more a 12 days of Christmas style, but that's just me haha
