Are you very sensitive to your own feelings and the feelings of those around you? Do you get overwhelmed by external stimuli, such as crowds, loud sounds and hectic environments? Are you deeply affected by the beauty of art, literature, music and nature? Do you get stressed easily? Do you suffer from feelings of inadequacy and sadness? Do you always seek deep and meaningful relationships? If so, you may have a highly sensitive temperament (HST). HSTs are a recently-recognized personality type and face many challenges in a world that is full of overwhelming stimuli. Yet HSTs can learn to survive and be successful. The breakthrough techniques of EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) are a powerful resource for HSTs. They teach you how to immediately and routinely reduce the intensity coming at you, how to set personal guidelines that work for you. EFT for the Highly Sensitive Temperament is an invaluable survival guide for HSTs, their loved ones and their families. It shows how to turn sensitivity into a gift for yourself and the world.
EFT for the Highly Sensitive Temperament (EFT: Emotional Freedom Techniques) Author: Rue Hass Publisher: Energy Psychology Press ISBN: 978-1-60415-046-9
Today's world can often be a hectic place. We are exposed to a huge amount and variety of stimuli. From bright lighting, noisy cars, loud talking, blaring music and constantly ringing phones to the noise of machinery, blinking lights of electronic equipment, and everything that goes along with modern society and technology. Do you ever feel like all that activity, people and noise are really upsetting you? Ever feel like you are on sensory-overload? If so, you may be a person with a highly sensitive temperament (HST).
Do you get anxious or depressed by things and people around you? How do you make personal decisions? Are you logic driven or do you base decisions on your gut feelings or intuitions? Studies have found that those of us with HST tend to be more intuitive, more in touch with our personal vibes, and the vibes of people we come into contact with. HSTs often get their feelings hurt easily, and have an extremely high level of empathy towards others, including animals. Perhaps you are self-sacrificing, putting the needs and desires of others above your own. You may find that your physical or mental health suffers because of it. Often, HSTs will feel emotionally drained and exhausted just by being in crowded or loud situations. They may try to avoid conflict of any kind. Usually idealistic, they would like to assume the best of everyone.
Being an HST is not a bad thing; many of the world's greatest humanitarians and creative people are HST. Learning to work with these traits, instead of fighting against them, can reward you with a more peaceful and efficient, successful life.
Using EFT, the reader can train themselves to work with their personality traits. EFT is based on the premise that the cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in our body's energy system. These disruptions can lead to physical, spiritual, mental and emotional symptoms and difficulties. If you have any knowledge of eastern medicine, you know that it's based on this same belief. In fact, it's been the basis of eastern medicine for thousands of years. EFT is often referred to as emotional accupunture, since it uses a tapping technique on key accupressure points. Studies have found that 80 percent of people treated with EFT, even self-treated, find at least some degree of relief. If used with a skilled practioner, the success rate reaches 95%. That's an outstanding level of success; especially when you consider that EFT uses no medication, surgery or medical intervention.
Written in an easy-to-follow, extensively detailed style, this book would be extremely useful to both laypersons and professionals. Anyone who with an interest in EFT or personality theory would find much new knowledge here. If you have an interest in alternative medicine or holistic therapies, it would prove an invaluable reference, both from the standpoint of a good understanding of EFT and personality issues or traits. Highly recommended.
If you are looking for a natural non-invasive healing technique, look no further. EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) is fast becoming the alternative approach “at the forefront of the new healing movement” as Candace Pert, PhD states. But what exactly is EFT? It is an acupressure tapping technique (without needles) that anyone can do on themselves or others, even children.
EFT for the Highly Sensitive Temperament by Rue Hass is a practical hands-on manual that shows how this technique can immediately and routinely reduce the intensity of overwhelming stimuli and feelings. Never before have I read a book that so accurately describes how I feel and react to things. I finally came to understand my highly sensitive temperament (HST) that explains a lot about me, why I suffer from depression and fibromyalgia, and why I am a creative being.
The author begins by explaining the tapping rounds, describing how to do the simple technique in detail, and of course, the highly sensitive perfectionist in me was at times overwhelmed by the amount of info given. So I decided to listen to the reassuring advice of the author who suggests tapping to deal with this minor issue to get the problem out of the way in order to take full advantage of this book.
It’s true it takes self-motivation to use this book, but after a few weeks of doing the tapping, I feel better already. I also tried EFT with my daughter who also has HST. She responded so well to it that I am showing her how to do the tapping rounds by herself. If EFT can offer her one more meaningful way to cope with daily issues that bother her, I am relieved and happy to share this technique with her.
You cannot just read through this book without doing the exercises. I had a highlighter on hand and used it liberally. It’s also small enough to carry in your purse so you can discreetly refer to it anywhere. I especially paid particular attention to the Personal Peace Procedure, which consists of making a list of every bothersome specific event you can remember and then applying EFT to each one of them. With just a few minutes per day, you can help yourself feel better and lower your threshold for getting upset.
This is one book I intend to keep and consult frequently. It has helped me to see how I can turn my sensitivity into a gift instead of seeing it as a fault. As I was familiar with EFT before I read the book, I strongly suggest any of you interested in EFT to go on the official Web site (http://www.emofree.com/) and watch a tapping round. You will be blown away by some of the ailments EFT has helped cure. I hope this book will continue to expose this innovative technique and to help many who are highly sensitive.
Do you easily get overwhelmed? Or do you ever feel invisible? If so, you might be highly sensitive. Rue Hass has written EFT for the Highly Sensitive Temperament to help you understand and conquer your sensitive temperament. Most cases, the problem is caused by something that happened in your childhood that triggered the problem later in life. Word and actions can be hurtful and life changing for kids and adults.
Are you sensitive to your own feelings? These is one of the questions the author wants you to ask yourself to help you overcome your fears and doubts. She recommend using the using the EFT, Emotional Freedom Techniques, method founded by Gary Craig.
I personally, have never heard about Emotional Freedom Techniques before reviewing these books. Techniques are about tapping on certain parts of your body, like under nose, under eye, etc., to step into the energy that flows through your body. I tried this, and honestly, I just didn’t get it. Maybe it takes lots of practice, but I can’t see this ever working on a person. I can understand repeating the positive phrases during the EFT, but can’t a person just close their eyes and repeat the phrases to clam their nerves down.
I’m somewhat shy, well I was as a kid, and that was one of the reasons I wanted to review this book. The author has a checklist for you to find out how sensitive you are. I checked only for, therefore, I’m not that sensitive as I thought. There people out there that are sensitive, and I would recommend EFT for the Highly Sensitive Temperament, as they may get some benefit out of reading it.
This is entirely wonderful as a healing modality. The author delves deeply into how to apply EFT for specific hurts and traumas very sensitive people have stuffed down deep into their systems. She explains how to get at them and heal them without scaring the crap out of yourself!
I highly recommend this book and this self-healing technique for anybody who wants to move forward on their inner journey.
