Marilee Dupont is running the ranch that has been in her family for generations. But she never planned to do it alone. Now, at 35, it seems like the clock is ticking, and it's a scowling banker that has caught her eye.
Trent Williams has no intention of being a small-town banker forever. But his ex-wife is making his life hell, and worse, is hurting their teen-aged daughter. So he jumps at a chance to leave Boise behind and run the branch bank in Moscow, Idaho. Just for a couple of years. Just until his daughter graduates from high school. But he can't take his eyes off the woman who can wear silk dresses and heels to town and then grab jeans and cowboy boots on a ranch.
Her ranch. His career.
Book 1, in the Second Chance Romances set in Moscow, a small town in Idaho. Four women friends who have each others' backs, no matter what. Each woman has her own trilogy, forming a braided series. Start with Marilee Dupont, agriculture professor and rancher.
This was first published as a Vella story under the pen name, L.J. Breedlove.
This was a.nice story but not a very happy ending. It is a true portrayal of how some men might think and why women need to be careful of their hearts & bodies!you
I liked the easy to read that developed with new guy in town with daughter and the daughter is interested in her ranch life. I would recommend this to anyone who like family stories.
This is the first book in a series which chronicles four women who are great friends whose lives are interwoven throughout all the stories. I must admit that I'm not a romance reader normally but I found this series to be totally engrossing and believable. Marilee, the rancher, meets Trent, the banker, in an adversarial situation, but they both seemed to recognize in each other qualities that attract them. Their relationship progresses and leads to more intimacy. You'll have to read it to find out more. The author really has a knack for developing her characters, and this series is no exception. The descriptions of the scenery, as well as descriptions of small town life will put you right there.
This has a good story going but leave with just tooooo many unanswered questions for me Hence the next 📕 book. But really She gets pregnant- does she tell the ex fiancé who is the president of the bank where she was trying to get a loan Does she ever get the loan Does she get to train the ex fiancé daughter for competition I guess that’s why there is a series but what a lot to cover & how many books are in the series
I’m done as my experience has taught me the next book may solve one problem but there are still unsolved ones & some others are created. Bye
Marilee is a rancher woman She also is a professor with tenure at a college in Moscow Idaho She meets Trent the banker and his daughter and get engaged but he wants her to sell the ranch and move with him so they break up but she is left pregnant A very good story
I really liked the story as far as it went... but it ended so abruptly that I hated the ending. If you want to know what happens, you have to buy the next book. I would never had started this book if I had known it wasn't a "stand alone" book.
I really enjoyed this book and got into the plot and the characters...... only to discover that it's a CLIFFHANGER! There was no indication of such in the Amazon write-up of the book. I find this so frustrating. Thus I am just giving it 3 stars.
Loved this book. I was sorry it ended, but you can read the next book to find out what happens but I am sure there are many in this series to come. The main character is a really strong character and I enjoyed her.
Of you're not a fan of the global warming idiocy I wouldn't reccomend this book, there's comment about it, over and over. If there was something to it that would be a little less irritating. She needs to do some research about it, and all the times it's been hotter than it is now and how humans actually beniffited from it. I gave this book three stars, that's a stretch itself. To get the whole story you have to get another book. I'm skipping that, there are better books available.
Again, what? The problem with a kindle is that you don’t know when the book will end. And this ending crept right up like a letter in your mailbox. I haven’t checked if there is a part 2/book 2 but I will!! I loved this story of the independent woman with good friends, a tenured position in a university and a ranch that she absolutely loved. When Trent used the term “podunk town” the second time, I knew there would be trouble.
This stops at her crisis point… it is only part 1 … and reader will have to go through the part 2, 3, ? (her friends crisis romances) in order to know how her story progresses. Grrrr. I did not like him all along… and I was right about him. Her deserved his first wife. She is what he wanted. I hope the good doctor grows her many multigenerational ranch to an awesome place … maybe with a new awesome man. Maybe the one hinted at in the ‘not an ending’ of this one.
This is a well-written book, but it disappointed me. First, the high quality of the writing just barely keeps it from being a politically Progressive polemic about climate change and feminism. I prefer non-political books. Second, it is not a stand-alone, which makes it feel like a bait-and-switch. The reader will have to buy at least one more book to find the resolution of a very complex situation. So this author is now officially off my "buy" list.
This was a good female lead ranching operation, with the female also having her PHD in Ag. The characters made this a great read until the total cliffhanger ending. Not common or expected in an otherwise fairly well written book. Very disappointed. The next book in this series, also does not address these characters.
Loved the story! But not happy how it ended. I would like to read the story as a series. So I can finish this story but left high and dry at the end. Very disappointing.
I absolutely hate when there is no ending to a story and the reader is left hanging. Sure, the author promises more, but after other stories are started. Maybe it's just me, but I dislike reading a series that is written like that.
I enjoyed reading this piece of fiction. It was romantic until they figured out it wasn’t going to work out for them so far and that’s where it left off.
The pattern of the story was predictable in a sweet cowgirl meets city big way. However, there were holes in the story and a few very awkward transitions. There were annoying spelling and punctuation errors. The story ended very abruptly...enough to make me not want to search out another book.
I would highly suggest a writing class as well as a professional editor to catch of these "nits" that go away with proper editing prior to publication.
A good enough plot to keep a reader involved - until - it ends in a MASSIVE cliffhanger. Did I miss the warning, don’t think so. It states book 1 of 5 but the ending of Rancher Woman was so abrupt that I definitely won’t continue reading further books. Disappointed!!
