A nice, quick biography of Rossini, who is a rather enjoyable person to read about. Smart, fun, talented, humble and shrewd and he could throw a great party. The companion CD is a lovely compilation. The book itself doesn't dig into the details too deeply, but it's a great way to start familiarization with the composer.
