How many of us read the Bible and wish we could see or experience miracles today like the ones Jesus performed? How many of us stop to think that His miracles were much more than just a physical touch in someone’s life, such as causing a blind man to see or healing a crippled man so he could walk? Jesus’ miracles were soul-deep. The Shooks portray through the miracles of Jesus how He wants to touch and change our lives today. He is still in the miracle-working business. I like the way they first clarify the difference between a true miracle and some event or action that people want to refer to as a miracle. But they wrap it all up by sharing the greatest miracle that can happen in the lives of everyone who believes. Jesus is ready to perform the miracle of bringing each of us into right relationship with Him, to change us into true followers of Christ. If you have never made that decision, I recommend you read this book and allow Him to work. If you are already a follower of Christ, the book will give better insight into some of the miracles in the Bible and help to strengthen your faith that miracles still happen.

Such an amazing book! The perfect time in my life to read about the miracles Jesus performed. For me a reminder that "God's miracles are never late, and they are never early. They come to us right on time." My favorite verse from this book... "Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think." (Eph 3:20)

The authors look at the miracles of Jesus from the perspective of what each miracle means for you personally. They find miracles within miracles that can help change your life forever. The best book I have read this year. Highly recommend.

Kerry and Chris Shook share the grace that is ours through miracles God gives in life in "Find Your Miracle." They take a look at many of the miracles that Christ performs during His earthly ministry and share from their hearts how those miracles can inform us regarding our experience of Christ. They begin by declaring that miracles still occur today. They are not a thing of the past, but are part of our very lives, each and every day. After stating this premise, they look at five aspects of miracles or the Map of a Miracle: First, God always starts with the miracle you need most; Second, the miracle you need most leads you to what you really need -- a deeper relationship with God; Third, God works miracles in His time and in His way; Fourth, God's miracles in your life will always bring glory to Himself and point people to Christ and; Fifth, only God can provide a miracle, but you have to put yourself in a position to receive the miracle. After exploring these five points on the road map of the miraculous, the Shooks help us all consider how God can act in our lives, in the midst of the pain, obstacles, fear and death of life.
Unfortunately, the book falls short. There is no consideration for when the miracle does not come. Many people have a miracle they need most, but never receive that miracle. Then, instead of encountering God they lose God. Yes, we can imagine that the miracle will occur in God's time, but sometimes that time never arrives. If we are honest with the way that God works in our world, this question needs to be addressed as well. The Shooks fail to address this. Many would remain in their doubt about God and His activity in the world if they read this text. Some people never find the miracle they need to escape the pain, obstacles, fear, and death of this life.
I received this book from Multnomah Publishers for the blogging for books program.

If you would read this book, simply due to its title, you need only read the very first book section (there are three in the first chapter). All the gold is there. Everything that follows are words to comfort when you are experiencing various maladies and encumbrances of life.

Well, that is not completely true. Subsequent chapters reference miracles in regards to certain situations which we all face at some point or another.

Find Your Miracle is a good book. We like it when the heart of content is right in a certain spot. You are free to read the rest and it is edifying. However, if you are pressed for time (like, all the time), or do not enjoy this thing called reading, you have an option. Options good.
