About the author

Andreas Christensen is a Norwegian science fiction and fantasy author. His most recently published work is Frostfall, an epic fantasy.

His popular series the Exodus Trilogy received rave reviews in both the U.S. and the U.K. and has been compared to classics such as Heinlein and Asimov. The Rift Saga is set approximately two centuries after the events of Exodus, and a reviewer described it as "Hunger Games on steroids". In a good way...

He is currently working on new projects, including a "second generation" story set in the Aurora universe, in addition to the Legionnaire Series.

Andreas Christensen has a degree in Psychology from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, and his professional background is mainly from public service. He has a weakness for cats, coffee and up until recently, books so heavy he'd need a separate suitcase in order to carry them every time he traveled. Luckily, the world has changed, and the suitcase has now been replaced by an e-reader.

Sumpin’s fishy here. I gave his generation ship trilogy five stars. But this companion novel about those left behind to face the killer asteroid and the post apocalyptic conditions on earth left in its wake is juvenile in content and delivery. Both the story and the writing in this companion novel are predictable, pedestrian, and pedantic.

This must be a companion book to the Exodus series. The story is interesting. Instead of the ones who escaped Earth ahead of destruction by an asteroid, this is the story of the ones not chosen to go and how a small number manage to survive. Those who were turned down by Exodus were incarcerated. Not sure why. But after their guards abandon the gates, some strike out to look for loved ones.
To me, this story seemed a bit unfinished, rather sketchy. It needed to be fleshed out more. But I suppose, since it's part of a larger story, you don't get the fleshed out story unless you buy the whole series.

Good book to read on long nights. Author good at developing his characters but I had trouble following them in the story. They should be a way to tie them together to make more of a novel. Instead it seemed to approve short storeies, but one enjoyable if you could remember what they left off and piece it back together.r andy.Keenan cole. r

The world is going to be destroyed by something called Devastator, which is never explained but I assumed it is a huge meteorite. 1600 people are on a spaceship to a planet 150 years away but the book is about the people left behind. Interesting, compelling, page-turner. First chapters start with the name of someone and then that person is featured in subsequent chapters, but it's very frustrating that the author doesn't give immediate reminders as to what that person did earlier in the story. The names are all very generic (Robert, Mark, John, etc) so that is not helpful. The author is from Norway. A very significant event is not really explained. Maybe something was lost in the translation. I read the ebook. Copyright 2016.

Rykk og napp i tidslinjen glattes over med tilbakeblikk på ting som har skjedd i mellomtiden, også virkelig gripende ting med konfliktfylte moralske valg som hadde gitt mer gjenklang hos denne leseren om de var en del av handlingen og ikke bare fortalt gjennom tilbakeblikk. Det som gjenstår er en helt kurant handling om pre-apokalypse, apokalypse og post-apokalypse, alt presset inn i en ganske kort bok, hvor handlingen er troverdig og fin, men har altfor få og små konflikter til å bli så minneverdig som den kunne ha blitt.

Read the Exodus trilogy and companion Explorer, first. Then the Alive short before Impact, as some of the characters' backstory is there. This is the setup for the Rift series which takes place loosely parallel to events in the Exodus trilogy, but on Earth. ... I very much enjoy this author; not too light, as to be YA, and not too heavy to be Dark or Hard SF.... Fun and entertaining, I mean considering the nature being apocalypse, not too grim.

Another piece of the puzzle.

Impact covers the period of time from shortly before the death of our civilization to the point where the Moon People arrive. It gives a good description of what it might be like for those who survive a world shattering cataclysm and what happens next as people try to survive and recover from it.

I continue to hope for more books in this series and recommend it highly.

A decent add to the Rift series, providing a background to some of the characters and how the different political areas came into being. It wasn't really detailed but more of a larger view of people's response to the impact, preparations some had made, and how certain people ended up in Buchannan, Canada, and the remains of America (the English), culminating in the Lunar citizens returning to earth.

I hope that Christensen at some time writes a more detailed book on the Lunar colony and its revolt.

I really enjoyed this book. I liked the way the many characters described their situation through the ordeal. I also liked the descriptions of how the impact will change the geography of the planet. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes survivalist stories or cataclysm on a planetary scale.

After reading the Exodus trilogy and the Rift trilogy, I heard of this book. I wasn't wildly thrilled with either of the trilogies, but this book promised to link them and fill in some gaps. It met those two goals and was more interesting to me than any of the other books since it wasn't non-stop battles.

This book is another well written exciting book. It feels in a lot of gaps that I had been wondering about from The Exodus trilogy. Although the ending is not what I expected it was an awesome book and a must-read for full knowledge of the series of books.

IMPACT picks up the story of the how Earth survives, along with those left behind. Christensen seamlessly picks up the threads of the series with familiar characters, and some new. How will they survive? What will they do to survive? IMPACT is a hard read to put down. You'll be swept along with this final book of the series. I was. I think you'll enjoy it!

I chose this rating because it didn't want the series to end. I know they're are more books and now I'm going to move on to The Rift

Intriguing story!
Loved this story so much that I went and bought the trilogy Exodus to read where it all starts. Well written and so easy to follow even though there were so many characters and that's something I love about the books I read. I'm hoping Exodus is as good or better than Alive. Highly recommended!!!

In his office, we arrange appointments for indie books. Our client IMPACT is a prequel to the Exodus Trilogy, a space age story widely applauded within the indie reads community. It's the detailed account of the events leading up to and after the day of devastation. The last of humanity has left for space while everyone else stays behind to make amends and brace for what appears to be the end of the Earth. The multiple views are woven within help to enhance the story using a diversified perspective of doomsday, allowing for a more dramatic build and intensified action scenes. It was a unique feature worth applause. After complimenting the patient on it's commitment to calisthenics, I sent it on its way while later filing a positive report to the Doctor's desk.

Only lost one star because it's a background story, without the quite the same urgency and suspense as the books of the main series. Similar in many ways to "Alive", the other Rift saga prequel (although the author links that rather to the Exodus series). In fact when I started reading this I kept thinking I'd read it before—but what I'd read was "Alive"…
