This riveting romance is the second book in the Paradise Cove series set in the Florida Keys. Three high-spirited sisters inherit Paradise Cove Cottages, and each story is a stand alone. Taylor Holmes has a lot on her plate--running a family owned resort, planning a wedding for her sister, and now the added worry as she opens her dream café. Throw in a hurricane and a sexy boat captain who doesn't take no for an answer, and this book will keep you glued to your Kindle. Romance, passion, danger, and hot, hot nights guarantee reading pleasure.
Patrice Wilton knew from the age of twelve that she wanted to write books that would take the reader to faraway places. As a voracious reader, she gobbled up books, and her imagination soared. She was born in Vancouver, Canada, and had a great need to see the world that she had read about. Patrice became a flight attendant for seventeen years and traveled the world. At the age of forty she sat down to write her first book—in longhand! Her interests include tennis, golf, and writing stories for women of all ages. She is the proud mother of two, has three lovely grand-daughters, and a wonderful man at her side. They live in West Palm Beach, Florida, where he teaches her golf, and she teaches him patience.
I wanted to like this book because the storyline is very sweet. But the first book, Paradise Cove, was a little cheesy and trite. I should have known this wouldn't be better. I want to love the characters and in the first book I actually liked them a lot better. This time the writing was cheesier and I skimmed a lot of info I thought was a waste of space. The characters changed enough for me not to like them. Taylor was irritating and an emotional basket case. I thought she was the cool sister in the first book and this story had me rolling my eyes at her A LOT. The mom went from being a super sweet, level headed awesome mom to a bed hopping alcohol chugging embarrassment. It was just not good. For me. In my opinion. But I finished it because we all need a little cheesy once in a while.
I feel bad that I just could not connect with the second of the Holmes sisters. I felt put off by her attitude towards Colt. This man was crazy about her. At the same time I could understand her and her not wanting to just be another notch on his bed. He was kind of a manwhore after his divorce.
Narrator Review of . . . Cynthia Vail has lent her voice again to the second read of this series. It was something about her voice that did not work its charm to convince me of the romance between Taylor and Colt. . The audio was smooth with vivid clarity and hiccup free.
Three sisters, Kayla, Taylor and Brittany Holmes inherited Paradise Cove Cottages in the Key. Along with their mother, they are determined to spruce up the cottages and make their little piece of paradise a success. Taylor Holmes has opened Taylor's Cafe in Paradise Cove. Her cooking skills are delicious creations of foods plus Taylor loves to cook. Colt Travis is the captain of his own boat. He does chapters and loves fishing. He is divorced with a young son. Besides being a extremely good looking, he is a player. But what is he hiding? What is missing in Colt's life that keeps him from loving? There is undeniable chemistry between Taylor and Colt. Taylor refuses to be another one of Colt's one night stand. They are too good of friends to ruin that friendship. Then add a hurricane and we will see what course it runs. The book also gives the reader the chance to catch up on Kayla, Brittany, Anna and the Hernandez family. This is book # 2 in the Paradise Cove series. It centers on the middle age daughter, Taylor. It can be read as a stand alone. I volunteered to read this eBook. Thanks for the author for the opportunity. My opinion is my own.
I started this book just as soon as I finished the first one, Paradise Cove. It picks up very close to when the first one ended, and I really liked that about it. In Paradise Cove we met Mrs Holmes and her three daughters, who inherited a seaside inn from a late step-father. Book one was Kayla and Shawn's story. This one is about Taylor and Colt.
Taylor relentlessly moved south to help her sisters and her mother with the in, mostly focusing on the menu, and food prep for the guests. She has always dreamed of opening up her own place - and she finally has. Then, she meets Colt, who's coming off the end of a nasty divorce, and isn't looking for love. It's a very up and down, emotional road to their HEA, but they manage to get there mostly unscathed. I really loved this book way more than the first one. I think because I adore Talyor and her spunk way more than Kayla (who is a lot more mature and insecure about herself and her body). But it was nice to of read Paradise Cove first, so I already knew these characters well. But, this can be read as a stand alone as well. This was a fun read, and I can't wait to dive into book three!
About the narrator, she was fabulous!I'm pretty sure this was the same narrator as Paradise Cove. I thought she had a much better handle on some of the characters this time around and most of them weren't very hokey like in book one. I really enjoyed this version so much more! She was clear and very easy to follow along with! I love how she has brought these characters to life for me, with just her voice!
I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by Patrice Wilton. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.
Hooked On You is the story of Taylor and Colt. Taylor loves to cook delicious meals that people love to eat so she opened up her own restaurant on the cottage property. A friendship between the local handsome Colt, who runs a local charter boat. Colt brings fresh fish to Taylor to use in her café while assisting his charter business with the guests. Taylor and Colt have a spark between them but life brings about their own struggles with the relationship. Colt is a single dad who has his son to look after and protect. Taylor wants to settle down and refuses to have a casual relationship. Can the two work through their differences and find the love that they both are searching for?
Hooked On You is another adventure in the Paradise Cove island series. The story will be one that you won’t soon forget with the unique plot and great characters. This story captured my attention from the very beginning. Patrice Wilton did an outstanding job of pulling at your heartstrings throughout. There are times you will laugh, cry or just smack someone. It gives you all the ooohs and aahhs that you enjoy in a good romance. This was a very thought provoking story with lots to learn from all the characters.
Cynthia Vail did a great job with the narration. She had a clear and crisp voice that was easy to follow. She did a great job with the voice inflections and the different accents. She really helped bring the story to life instead of sounding as if she was just reading a story.
This is the second book that I have read by Patrice Wilton and won’t be my last. With her superb writing, it is a pleasure to read her books. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the books in the series so that I can find out what happens to the rest of the Holmes family. I recommend Hooked on You and the Paradise Cover series to anyone that enjoys passionate and emotional romance.
A return to Paradise Cove that makes me want to pack my bags and head for the Keys. In Hooked on You, we get to once again join the Holmes Family as they continue to run their Paradise Cove Cottages. While the first book was mainly focused on Kayla, this one goes in depth with her sister, Taylor. Paradise Cove has it's fun and it's obstacles but take a ride with the family as they show you they can weather any storm. This family makes being in a business with your family look like fun!
This is the second book in the Paradise Cove series and it follows the sister Taylor Holmes as she tries to open her cafe, but nature decides to pay her a visit in the form of a hurricane. She also has the sexy boat captain and a visitor from her past to contend with. There is bound to be stormy seas coming to the cove and aiming right towards Taylor.
I listened to the audio version of this and I wished their had been a better narrator as her diction and voice took away from the story for me. The story and characters were good and I really enjoyed Taylor's journey to find love. She is a stubborn woman who doesn't want to bend to anyone's will. I really liked meeting all the characters from Paradise Cove.
Even though all of these books are stand alone reads, you will get the most enjoyment of the series of reading them in order.
Patrice Wilton doesn't disappoint. She gets your attention right from the start to the end. So, sit back and relax and enjoy a trip to the Florida Keys. You get to stay at the Paradise Cove Cottages, dine at Taylor's Cafe, and Colt can take you on a fishing charter. Now, the fun begins as you get to enjoy a steamy romance and fall in love with Paradise Cove, Taylor's family and all their friends.
"Hooked on You" by Patrice Wilton is book number two in the "Paradise" series. This is a stand alone, but I recommend that you read "Paradise Cove" because it was a great story too! This is Taylor Holmes and Colt Travis' story.
In "Paradise Cove" we meet the Holmes sisters and their mother. They came to Florida Keys to run the Paradise Cove resort. Taylor finally opens her dream café and things are going well but she feels that something is missing in her life.
Colt is still dealing emotionally from a bitter divorce. Taylor and Colt have become good friends. Taylor's attracted to him but so is just about every female. Colt is known for being a ladies' man but is never involved in any serious relationships. He runs a small charter but just seems too laid-back and not ambitious enough.
Taylor wants a real relationship not a hookup or friends with benefits so she is fighting the chemistry and attraction between them. But Colt being a hunk and a flirt it is making fighting the attraction and sexual tension very difficult for Taylor.
I received a copy of this book for an honest review. FYI, includes mature content.
"Hooked on You" is a great book to take on vacation such as to the beach, the mountains, or just relaxing at home. I'm looking forward to Brittany's story.
Taylor is the epitome of hardworking and stubborn. She hates asking for help and wants to be independent but at what cost??? She seems to want a relationship but only on her terms. She lusts after Colt, local dive boat owner, who she sees as a great man. He is also a strong presence in his son's life and she admires him for that but is put off by his playboy attitude.
Colt is still stinging from his divorce. He likes female company but doesn't want to put his son through the wringer again and refuses to take on a long term relationship. He thinks Taylor could change his ways but he's not ready to label themselves as anything other than friends. He admires Taylor but knows she only wants a long term relationship and he's just not ready for that yet.
They have a rocky way to get to their HEA. Think tropical storms, parental custody and jealousy at inopportune moments! You will alternately want to strangle and cuddle Taylor for letting her own obstinacy get in her way! Colt is king of the faux pas and you can just tell that he only keeps putting his foot in it because he actually wants that long term relationship he keeps saying he doesn't!!!!
This is the 2nd book in this series but it works as a standalone too. Set in the Florida Keys it already has a lot going for it and throw in 3 gorgeous sisters and a hot mama too and you can't go wrong! The women inherited a small resort so they left New Jersey and headed south. Determined to make a go of this opportunity they have worked hard to spruce up the cottages and make all of their guests feel as welcome as they can. Taylor is a great cook so she's opened a small cafe on the property and has developed a friendship with a single father who runs a charter boat. He's been burned before and she doesn't do casual so can they ever make a go of it together? Between planning her sisters wedding, keeping her mother in check and bracing for a hurricane can Taylor find the time to deal with love? You'll have to read the book to find out but you won't be sorry you did! Lots of great characters and lots of action (romantic and otherwise) make a great read.
Taylor is a strong, loveable, bullheaded, young woman who you will want to cheer for and strangle both at the same time. Colt is a hardworking, handsome, strong willed man you will want to root for and roll your eyes at for every wrong step he takes. And you will desperately want to have just a smidge of the smoking hot romance and bone deep love they have for each other. Set in the idyllic Paradise Cove...you will weather the storm and celebrate happy hour in the loving embrace of a family you wish were your real family. Sit back and enjoy the read...it is definitely worth it! Thank you Ms. Wilton for allowing me to read your wonderful story for free! I cannot wait to read the next one and leave another honest review!
We first met the 3 sister and their mother who own Paradise Cove in her first book. Now, we get to see where their lives have gone. It seems that half of them are happy with their life as it is. Mom and Taylor seem to be missing something. Although Taylor has opened her cafe to go along with the resort, there's still something missing. The path to her happiness is long and winding in this book, but oh so worth the wait. Anna seems to finally be getting over her husband's death and ready to move on with her life and have some fun. I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I love reading any genre that is set in Florida. Sweet and caring book, oh and some romance and sex. This second book is about Taylor Holmes and how she falls in love with a sexy boat captain and his son. A hurricane and A Cuban family of three soon to be four is stranded on the Florida waters, and is rescued by the sexy bboat captin and his crew of one. I am going to read book one. And looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
I received this book in exchange for my honest review. I loved reading this and couldn't put it down once I started. Loved the characters and story line. I can't wait to read more to this series and find out what happens to all of the sisters. I so have to go back and read book 1 of this series. You won't be disappointed.
This story was meh. I really enjoyed the first book so I was looking forward to the second. This book had so much description and internal dialogue that it took away from the story. I also did not understand why Taylor kept pushing Colt away. Half the time it didn't make sense and the other times she was wrong. You still get a HEA but abruptly.
Patrice Wilton has outdone herself with this book. The emotions felt by each character jump right off the page. It's almost like you are standing there watching the whole story take place in real life. You will LOVE this book.
Anna and her three daughters own Paradise Cove it is cute little place with twelve cottages including the one they live in. They have Happy Hour by the pool every day for their guests where Taylor cooks her heart out. She makes cute little appetizers for the guests and her Mom mixes up amazing drinks to serve the guests.
Taylor also owns the cafe next door and cooks for the guests as well as some of the townspeople.
Colt is their local charter fisherman who takes their guests out for fishing expeditions and just to go out on the water in his boat for the day. He took one guest snorkeling. Colt has a son named Jamie who really likes to go to Happy hour and spend time with Taylor, her Mom and her sisters.
Taylor looks at Colt as her friend when he wants to be so much more. The trouble with Colt is he is a ladies man and wants to have them all.
Check out the story I think you will enjoy it as much as I did.
