Do you know how the Roman legionaries wield their swords? Or that they impersonate tortoises? And have you any idea what a Parthian Prankster would look like face to face? This handbook not only answers all these questions, it covers everything else you could ever need to know about life in the Roman Army. Thinking of joining up? Read this book first.
Lesley dreamed of being a writer, but studied law as her mother insisted she had "something to fall back on". Since joining Usborne Publishing, she has written and edited hundreds of books, from funny rhyming stories to an award-winning history book. Nowadays, she is often found recording books, too, in Usborne's very own recording studio.
This book comes with high recommendation to those interested in the adventures of Asterix and Obelix. For years have I wondered about the Romans and their army units trying to conquer the Gallia, but never have I bothered to search for the meaning of these terms. Well, better late than never, as they say. Ever so grateful to Lesley for explaining it all regarding Roman armie in a very visual manner and easy to understand for everyone. Interested in the ancient history of Italy only? No worries, it's still a fun book to read with some useful information inside it ;)
(s. 16-17) Millaisia kurinpitorangaistuksia annettiin? (s. 27-28) Ja niin edelleen...

A fun introduction to the life of a roman soldier around 117 CE, geared for kids but great for adults as well. Dare I say the illustrations are too cute? ;)
