Ride
It’s the last-minute chance of a photograph the World Rodeo Championships. There are only a couple of don’t get in the way, don’t get trampled, and don’t get frisky with the cowboys. As if I need to be told. I tried that once when I was dumb, drunk, and eighteen, and no matter how good it felt I’m not about to make that mistake again. I’m here to make a name for myself, not become another buckle bunny. I’m a professional, and I don’t care how charming Jackson Cody, two-time World Rodeo Champion, might be. Even if it turns out he does remember our brief encounter all those years ago when I was dumb and drunk. And especially not if he wants to re-start right where we left off. It’s a terrible idea. This gig is the beginning of the rest of my life. A foot in the door. A way to prove I can be taken seriously, and Jackson is nothing more than pretty eyes, a cocky smile, and a mouth that makes the phrase yes ma’am sound absolutely filthy. Problem is, I know what else that mouth can do, and Jackson’s only gotten better with time. I’ve got a five-year plan. He barely thinks more than eight seconds ahead. But when he rides? Heaven.

Audio-book: Narrators - Maxine Mitchell and Brett Galliford
Holy crap!!! I have never heard another male narrator do such a freaking amazing job with a character like Mr. Galliford did with Jackson Cody! I am not a swooner nor do I like to pretend something caused me to swoon (okay, not quite true) but his rendition of Jackson was so perfect, I didn’t want this book to end. So deep and smoky, that rough drawl and lazy inflection just about set my listening device on fire! The only complaint I had was the actual recording. His voice is on such a deep register that even at the loudest setting for my speakers I couldn’t hear him over the sound of running water or daily activity and that was with the speaker right next to me. I had no problem at all hearing Ms. Mitchell’s voice. Not sure what caused the issue but had his voice not melted butter, I would have stopped listening as I had to do so with my earbuds rather than with the speaker that I prefer.
Ride is a little angsty, a little bit forbidden, and a lot of steamy. The chemistry between Mae and Jackson was electric. However, Jackson tended to turn to other women a time or two after spending time with Mae. While I’m aware men will be men, I want my hero to not be able to tolerate another woman around that isn’t his woman much less allow her to sit on his lap as he holds her butt. I’ve read a lot, although not all, by this author so I was surprised by this activity as I haven’t seen it in anything else of her’s. To say I was disappointed is an understatement and it not only took me out of the story it made me not like Jackson, despite the narrator’s deep baritone.
However, once this couple get their act together and decide what their next step is, I was on board with them being together. Everything from that point onward felt organic to their relationship even if they were having to sneak around in order to protect her job. The reasons given that caused the fear of losing her job felt contrived and I had to force myself to overlook it and move on.
I did like these characters both individually and together. They were pretty well developed and I enjoyed their easy camaraderie as well as the humor they shared. Their sexy times were intense and their fun times always made me smile. The conflict was more in line with “what am I going to do with the rest of my life” and “how not to get caught with the star so I don’t lose my job” kind of thing with neither really going anywhere with much drama. It was all smoothed over rather quickly and almost absently but I was all good with it. There’s a nice little epilogue and while this is not my favorite of this author’s, I did love the audio portion and ended up enjoying the book a considerable amount.

Sizzling charm
Rodeo star Jackson Cody is charismatic, charming, refreshingly honest and remarkably happy. This guy grabs on to life by both horns and flings it around by its tail. I can't remember the last time I read a romance where the male lead genuinely whistled through his day. It was a welcome change, and Roxie Noir had him tumble into love in one of the most sexy-sweet stories I have maybe ever read.
Photo journalist Mae Guthrie has a career-making assignment covering Pioneer Days and rising bull riding star Jackson. She just hopes the guy with a reputation of pleasing the buckle bunnies on the circuit doesn't remember a certain drunken night six years earlier, when she and the cowboy were both teens. Well, he remembers. And fondly. Despite the unoriginal second chance trope, compounded by the straight arrow girl attracted to the consummate player, this story surprised me with its heart. I love a couple who can laugh together in bed and out.

Holy HELL!
I picked this book out of my TBR list because I wanted a bit of fun smut. I wasn't expecting much. I certainly didn't expect to find myself reading possibly my fave romance of the year and one that makes my all-time top 10 list for contemp.
Jackson and Mae shared a drunken moment if the back of his truck when they were both teenagers. Years later, they're both poised to make their big break. Jackson as a world champion rodeo star and Mae on her first big photography gig---shooting Jackson for a major sports mag.
What I loved about this book is not only is it as scorching as West Texas in July, it's freaking beautiful. Yup.
I don't think I've ever read a book that so thoroughly captured the feeling of falling in love, from both sides. You watch Mae and Jackson go from lust to something deeper, step by step. It's a helluva a ride.
There is enough conflict and tension here to keep a reader glued to the pages, but these characters feel real, their situation feels real. There's no cliched misunderstandings, silly plot devices that make you roll your eyes.
Jackson is sexy as hell, tough and all man, but he is sweet, protective and funny, too.
If you think I'm gonna behave myself while you're here you've lost your goddamn mind," he whispers, his lips against my ear.
Mae is adorable, sassy and so relatable. And she's CONFIDENT. Even with Jackson being a huge star with 'buckle bunnies' trying to corner him at every turn, Mae keeps it real. She does get territorial at times, but none of that 'Oh I am so insecure bullshit' that is overdone so much.
"Actually, I'm a minion of Satan and I've been sent here with this soul-capturing device," I say. "If I can capture a hundred souls in one day, he'll give me a bonus. I'm saving up to buy a house in the nice part of hell."
"Now you're whispering?"
"Better late than never?"
Apparently Jackson's dick turns off the part of my brains responisible for keeping the volume down.
And OMG, the sex! That scene in the bull pen at night. The phone sex...Vegas...the bar bathroom. Whew....
Definte re-read for me, possibly right now. :)

Jackson and Lulu-Mae. I wanted to like this, and I did like the MCs quite a bit. But the story was so slow and empty of anything interesting other than the MCs. I grew bored, I skimmed ahead, I skimmed ahead more. I realized that it just wasn't turning my crank so I skipped to near the end, just to see what I would be missing and the story gets tragic! Not that there isn't an HEA, but if you are like me and kinda squeamish, you might want to skip this one.
Even so, I would definitely like to try this author again.

First of all, Roxie Noir is really talented and I enjoyed the hell out of one of her other books 'Never Enough'. My issue with 'Ride' is a matter of personal taste -- I found this book really sleazy. I don't mind a man-whore main character, but this book took it to another level. The book opens with a one night stand, he gropes a woman in front of the Mae, he almost has sex with another woman when he fights with Mae... it was just a lot. Even after meeting Mae, the book is sprinkled with his musings about attractive women. I just wasn't into it. I also think it's not at all believable that Mae would risk her career for Jackson... he was a sloppy mess of a character.
3 stars cause the writing was good. I'm knocking 2 off cause I do not buy their HEA...

5 HOT, HOT, HOT and Very Sexy Stars
OMG, I just finished this gem and could shout out to the world how great it was, lol!!!! I have never read anything by this author before so of course, I wasn't sure what to expect, good or bad, and holy wowza, what a fantastic surprise it was for me:)
The writing was phenomenal, the characters, oh gosh, I LOVED both of them so much, the storyline was great, I was captivated from the start and stayed glued to my seat until the very end! The sex, oh holy hell, the sex scenes were utterly hot, sexy, I mean whoa, my Kindle was on fire! There was not a thing I didn't love:)
The storyline was quite unique. For one, I am not a fan of cowboy type books BUT this book has changed my opinion completely going forward! I loved that storyline made me feel so many emotions throughout. Quite honestly, I did read with some "worry" in the back of my mind throughout because this was a new author for me as well as the way I was introduced to Jackson's character. Quite honestly, at the start, I think I was ready to dislike him, lol BUT let me tell you THAT opinion changed pretty much immediately. Jackson was of so swoon, perfect!!!!!!!!!! Mae was equally perfect too!
Jackson and Mae were two of the best characters and I loved that there was constant communication and honesty between them and it was so refreshing to read. I loved that what we saw was what we got. They didn't mislead each other, they were not hiding secrets from each other, they weren't "misunderstanding and/or miscommunicating", etc...... This story was so refreshing and HOT, I mean HOT,HOT, HOT!!!! The dirty talk from BOTH of them turned me on completely:) The phone/video sex.....oh, I just can't even, five alarm fire talk:)
What more can I say except, I freaking LOVED this book and now I can't wait to read more by this author. I am now a huge fangirl of hers:) Congrats Author Roxie Noir on a Grand Slam!!!!!

I enjoyed the beginning, lost a little bit of interest in the middle and started skimming, and then circled back around in the end. I think this could’ve been a little bit shorter too. MMC was a little too skeezy imo for FMC to fall for his charade in the beginning..it gave a little insta-love (which is not my fav). I enjoyed the writing style though and the epilogue was super cute. Additionally, there isn’t a lot of sustenance in the plot. However, the spice is there so if that’s mainly what you’re looking for - may be worth a read.

For the first 20% of this book, I really thought I was going to hate it. I’ve never been more pleasantly surprised. I really really enjoyed this.
I hated the MMC in the beginning and then I couldn’t help not to love him. His character development kinda fell flat. He goes from being the biggest playboy to being a devoted boyfriend and there wasn’t really any turmoil. But I guess that’s kinda how men are irl. Someone comes a long and then they decide they want a girlfriend.

DNF @ 53%. I’m ok with hero’s having large body counts, not ok with him treating women as disposable. Hero has makeout sessions (with grinding and groping!) with multiple other women after our leads have reconnected and been intimate. Also dude seems to be a straight up alcoholic.

This is my first book by this author and my first book about a rodeo, and it was so much fun.
I've read (and loved) cowboy heroes before, but this book was even more intense.
It was so well written and the plot was enthralling, I felt like I was watching it all unfold first hand.
I loved how the characters grew and developed along the story. They brought the best in each other and not only did they aknowledge this growth, but they also embraced it and cherished it.
They had obstacles to overcome, but they were willing to make it work and compromise so they could fit into each other's lives, without loosing themselves.
Such a great read.

I overall enjoyed this western/cowboy romance, I found the relationship between Jackson and Mae to be an excellent pairing, even though it has the annoying "we shouldn't be doing this, but we'll do it anyway" plot device. I just feel like there are more mature ways for the MCs to act, and . Overall, a great read!

An absolute gem of a rodeo romance! He’s both alpha male, “touch her and die” but also a consent king who kicks another guy’s ass for sending unsolicited dick pics. This was my first read by Roxie Noir and, wow, the lady can write spice!!!!

Explicit. This was so heartwarming and so sweet, but also just laugh out loud funny in places. It reminded me a lot of Elsie Silver's style of writing, which I already love, so this was a nice little book to follow up with. The ending felt a little rushed, but all in all I loved it and will definitely read more of Noir's books!
