Williamson's commentary is insightful, pastoral, and enjoyable to read. He does due diligence academically, but he never spends too much time on the debated issues. Rather, he alerts the reader to the issue, gives a brief summary of the shape of the discussion, provides resources for further study, then states his view and moves on. This allows the commentary to flow well all side a reading of the text. I highly recommend this commentary, especially for lay readers looking for a companion volume as they read the gospel of Mark or for pastors preaching through Mark.
