I lost my virginity with this book. Actually, I've listened to a few HQ Romances, but Something Wild by Toni Blake is the first Harlequin novel that I've ever physically read! What rock have I been hiding under? Now I understand why so many people claim to have an addiction to these little gems, as SW was a quick, light, sweet, sexy, satisfying HEA romance. (Of course I might have cheated a little by selecting something written by Toni Blake, as she has already proven to be a powerhouse on the rise with her mainstream romance novels such as Letters to a Secret Lover.)

Possible Spoiler (but it happens in the first chapter)***********

Calm, passive computer geek, Martin, has asked Penny Halloran to marry him. Penny, always known as "Miss Goody-Two-Shoes", knows she has an unexplored wild side and is afraid that Martin does not...that marriage to him would be boring and predicable. So Penny decides there is only one way to see if she and Martin would be truly compatible...by seducing him! As the co-owner of the Two Sisters Pub that is located next to Martin's office, Penny delivers the office staff their lunch on a daily basis. One Friday, she pins a note to Martin's sandwich bag..."Meet me tonite at the corner of 4th & Walnut. Be ready for anything." Dressed like a hooker, Penny picks him up in a darkened limo, strips off his clothes and has the best sex of her life with him. "Yes, I'll marry you!" she says. But when the lights come on, it isn't Martin she has seduced...it's Ryan Pierce, the new guy at the office!
***********************************

The story is about two people who have undoubtedly started off on the wrong foot, but realize the chemistry between them is undeniable, and, therefore, have trouble staying apart. Will they be able to overcome their personal feelings of guilt and the censure of others to find a true HEA? You'll have to read the book to find out; however, I'll wager that not only HQ addicts but any lovers of romance novels will agree that Something Wild is well worth the effort. You will finish the story, close the book and sigh, "Awww...that was sooo sweet!" Well-deserved 5 stars.

Nice little story. T.B. is at the top of her game here. No unneeded complications, no deus-ex-machina's. Satisfying.
