These Mountains: Selected Poems

Rate this book
To read the poetry of Rivka Miriam is to view the world through the eyes of a sensitive soul, profoundly affected by the Holocust experience of her parents, deeply committed to engaging in the Bible and classical Jewish sources and yearning for intimacy with the divine. In language characterized by an appealing simplicity, Rivka Miriam shares with her readers a variety of moving responses to a lifetime of experiences which have spanned virtually the entire history of the State of Israel. Rivka Miriam's powerful vision inspires us to believe in the possibility of the renewal of the human spirit in our time.

I enjoyed her use of language, but felt I missed the meaning of many of the poems.

Bought a copy of this book (I love its publisher, Toby Press), and brought the collection with me on a trip to Israel. Glad that I did. Wish I read Hebrew, so I could better appreciate the bilingual presentation.
