Sonia Hillsdon is an English graduate who after enjoying full-time teaching of her subject for many years now combines it part time with journalism. Her interest in the past and her love of the French language were much stimulated by her move to Jersey nearly twelve years ago. Both were further encouraged by her Membership of La Societe Jersiaise and being commissioned to write articles on various aspects of Jersey for the Islander magazine. Thus she came to learn about the Island's special links with France and the UK, its turbulent history and unusual customs, as well as the wealth of good stories accumulated in each of the twelve parishes. Mrs Hillsdon is also Music Correspondent for the Jersey Evening Post and has had her work on Almorah Crescent included in Joan Steven's Old Jersey Houses II. (biog as of 1987).
