TK has called Texas home, even when she was living elsewhere with her Navy husband.

As a work-from-home/stay-at-home mom, she found joy in photography, which led the way to pursuing her dream of writing just one book. Her first novel, Being There, was self-published in 2013.

When. she's not writing, she can be found doing home renovations with her dad, or doing the empty nest thing. She and her husband enjoy spending time on the water, visiting their daughters at college, or just being with friends and family.

3 stars.

I really liked Viola and Wyatt's chemistry and witty banter!
Their bunch of friends were awesome and the interactions were really entertaining. A great story about finding yourself and growing up.
However, I felt like things were at times too rushed, especially at the end. I wish some parts were more expanded.

After her husband’s cheating, Viola put her life into perspective.

She quit everything for a fresh start, with only at first her good faith for a life changing plans. No string attached, no more flirty and charming men, just trying to find herself back, where during her failed marriage, she put her dreams on hold for someone who clearly didn’t deserve it.

I really liked how during this transition of her life, she tried to open to people despite her sarcastic and witty nature and insecure side. When a certain owner of coffee shop at String Beans, Wyatt, crossed path in her so planned plan to get her life back without no complications, everything went out through the window. Danger with a capital D.

Was Viola going to lose herself again? Wyatt was pushing all her buttons, and I had to say that the guy was pretty good at it.

I really appreciated how the author could create this incredible chemistry between the main characters but also with Viola’s new friends. It was really entertaining to a point but the constant back and forth between Viola and Wyatt was at the end really frustrating. I could understand how Viola stood when it comes to men but her stubbornness and totally denial about Wyatt was … Not great. Leading her to make some surprising choices.

It was a great story about finding yourself and growing up, with some good promising material story. While Viola’s behavior was giving whiplash, I enjoyed Wyatt’s character though. His bluntness, his selfless side was really appealing and sweet. He wasn’t perfect but with Viola the tornado and the walls built around her, he’s willing to take the challenge and I respect the guy for trying.

However, I felt like things were at times too rushed, especially at the end. I wish some parts were more expanded. Surprisingly I was more interested by her friends’ stories at times. I wanted just to Viola to wake up and to face the truth. This part came too late for me. And the end? No cliffy I promised but it was just too abrupt.

For all the reasons mentioned in my review, it was good but it could be so much better.

2.5 get out of your own way stars

2.5 get out of your own way stars. Could have used more of Wyatt's POV to balance Vi's angst. Yay for happy endings :)

String Beans is a standalone but it’s the second book in The Girls of Beachmont series. We met Viola in Fumbled and she seemed to have the perfect life. She was married to Will, her college sweetheart, but had always put her dreams on hold to make him happy.

When she suffers the worst kind of betrayal, she leaves everything and everyone behind to start fresh in a new town. She is broken down and devastated. Who can blame her after what she has gone through? The more I read the first few chapters, the madder I was.

Wyatt had the perfect job, the perfect girlfriend, and was happy. When his mom’s health declines, he leaves it all behind to go home and help them. He takes over String Beans, the local coffee shop. Finding out how the shop got its name was such a sweet moment and I would have never guessed that. If you’ve ever watched the show ‘Friends’, then that’s what this place reminded me of. A relaxing place to enjoy and hear local musicians play.

From day one, Wyatt is drawn to Viola and I fell for him the first time he met her. He was so funny! She feels the attraction, too but after her ordeal, she is avoiding every man possible. The more she and Wyatt bump into each other, she starts to actually feel alive again. I simply loved Wyatt’s character. He’s a really good guy and so good for her. He’s hilarious, sexy, and such a sweetie. Who could blame her for liking him? He just makes her feel so at ease.

Then, when he finds out Viola writes songs and gets her to play in his coffee shop, he knows his heart belongs to her, if she will just take it. But, things aren’t always that easy and I felt so bad for him. But, Viola knows where her heart is at and I really liked seeing how independent she became. She learned to stand on her own again and learned to love herself. She got her writing groove back after being unable to write for so long and that really changed her so much and for the better.

I love everything about this series. The characters are easy going, funny, and this is such a sweet read. I just adored Wyatt and Viola blossomed so much after meeting Wyatt. I loved seeing her blend in so well with his family right from the start and how much their relationship changed as they went from friends to lovers. I think all of Viola’s friends were just what she needed to move on and I loved getting to see her friends from the previous book. This is a quick, make you feel good kind of book that I give 4 stars. I would love to see more of this series in the future.

Every once in awhile it is good to refresh your palate in reading. Such as, if you are so used to reading books that are dark, or full of sex, or suspenseful, then you pick up a book and have a sweet read with a heartfelt story. One where you may be able to relate to a character or two. Where you are cheering on the main character, and yelling at her to get over her issues. A great summer read. This is the book for you to pick up to have a read where your head is not spinning and all over the place wondering what is going on.

As I have said, I am a huge T.K. fan. So of course I was going to jump to read this. Vi and Wyatt are two characters that you want to have the happy ending. You want Vi to get over her issues and just get on with life. Vi walks in on her husband that was in her bed with some blond fluzzy. What she does not know is that this is the push that she needs. She was stuck in a job that was beneath her because she wanted to support her husband and everything that he wanted, even if he was not working to get there.
When she finds Wyatt she is pretty much a b(*&( to him, but he sees someone that is stronger then she thinks with a lot of spunk. He is willing to do what he needs to do to prove to her that he is the man for her. You can't help but fall in love with him along the way.
In addition to Vi and Wyatt, the supporting characters in this book are so fun to read. Callie is your typical young Cali girl that is a bit ditzy, but at the same time caring and loving. Dallas is the gay best friend that every girl needs. We also get a glimps of the girls from Beaumont, Jolie and Dani.
Now, I wish that there was a more sexual vibe to the book, because we all know that I love my spice. However, like I said, sometimes it is just good to take a break from what you are used to. I was a bit confused why there was a small chapter in there by her ex-husband. I guess it was good to know why he did what he did, but I don't feel that it was necessary. Although this will not stop me from reading the rest of the books in the series.

The Girls of Beachmont series continues with String Beans. After meeting the girls in Fumbled, String Beans picks up on their adventures with Viola's story.

Viola suffers the ultimate betrayal and is forced to re-evaluate who she is and what she values most.

I loved how TK presented this confident character and stripped her down to reveal how raw emotions can affect even the strongest person. Pushing her out of her comfort zone and forcing her to make some tough choices, Viola grows as a human, a friend and a woman.
