A fight to the bitter end… Steve Jory inherits the Broken J cattle ranch from his uncle not soon after his old job as a gun for hire comes to an abrupt end. He rides into Bowie County to take over the ranch, hoping to leave his grim past behind him and find some sort of future for himself. But Jory soon discovers that taking over his uncle's path is no easy assignment. Land grabbing greed has overwhelmed the local ranchers, and Bowie County is rife with trouble. Jory's arrival brings things to a head and in no time at all, he finds himself up against Ben Sharkey – an expansionist rancher who is used to getting what he wants. But while the townsfolk lay the blame for recent troubles on Sharkey’s doorstep, Jory has suspicions about deeper undercurrents to the range war that threatens to erupt. Jory must get to the bottom of the mess amidst a quickly growing body count and in the face of mounting mortal perils. If Jory proves quick on the draw, he stands to find himself a sizeable homestead and a beautiful wife. But who amongst his friends can he depend upon? Will he end up losing everything that he holds dear? Bullets at Sunset is a classic western thriller – a captivating tale of gunslingers and cattle rustlers, of taciturn heroes and ruthless outlaws. An AD. Kansas Western Action Adventure (BAS)

AD. has penned a Kansas western action adventure titled, "Bullets at Sunset" which begins with the primary character, a hired gun and his partner, in a final gunfight for pay. The partner is killed and the main character heads for his Uncle's ranch in Kansas. When he arrives he is in am immediate fight and gun bout where he finds another rancher seems to have been causing trouble. Their problem is they are being used against each other by a third party. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS

FAST PACED WESTERN

Jory is persistent, like a dog with a bone... The storyline reminds me of something that you might expect from a Lone Ranger show, where the mystery is eventually solved and the gang leader is the one person who is least suspicious. Overall a good western and RECOMMENDED.

I had to stop reading this book, I'm not sure if it's because I wasn't in the right head space for it, but the story line dragged on and although I understand that this is a story of a bandit who lived in Western times it somehow made the whole story very boring. I couldn't keep my eyes open during reading this and considering that it is suppose to be a book focused on action and it's suppose to keep you gripped that is a troubling place to find yourself in.

That being said, the story does have good overall world building and maybe if it was better at telling the story and making it more interesting would have been a better choice for this book.
