Only Vivian knows the truth. Vivian is the new wife of respected Captain Randolph Carlyle, but when Randolph dies at sea, only she lives with the truth. No one else knows that his last words to her were an angry indictment of her secret past life-not his brother, not his servants, and certainly not his best friend, Conner Jackson. So when Vivian calmly accepts the news that her husband's will had not been updated to include her, those who care about her are puzzled by her reaction. Vivian is convinced she has received God's forgiveness for her past behavior, but as she and Conner are drawn to each other, she fears that, like her late husband, Conner will reject her if he ever learns of her past. Will her secret remain safe, or will will its existence threaten the love she seeks?
Mary originally earned her college degree in elementary education. So where did the passion for inspirational romance books begin? In her head! Her characters would not leave her alone. They kept her from sleeping at night, and focusing on anything else during the day. Over forty titles later, they still keep bothering her to this day - luckily for her readers and fans!
Quiet-natured and creative, Mary also enjoys many crafts such as porcelain doll making, quilting, knitting, and many others!
Neither her dyslexia nor the cat on her laptop has kept her from producing award-winning and bestselling works such as her Quilting Circle series, Mrs. Witherspoon Goes To War, and Newlywed Games. Her published works have been on Publisher’s Weekly bestselling lists several times.
Additionally, she contributes to the writing world as a member of ACFW (American Christian Fiction Writers).
She currently resides in Washington State with her husband, a black cat named Buffy, and her favorite weather: the rain.
This book is about forgiveness. Vivian has to forgive herself for her past. She has accepted Christ and has changed her life, yet still ashamed a of her past. Her husband can never bring himself to forgive her when he finds out she was a prostitute. When he dies, his best friend Conner tries to take care of her. He has secretly been in love with her. However, like his friend, when he learns the truth he can't for give her either. Of course as the book goes on he finally does and they live happily ever after. This books was a bit predictable and also over done on the prostitution part. Both men's mothers had also become prostitutes. Both men had similar pasts. Overall the lesson in forgiveness comes through and overall enjoyable.
It was a really good novel. It really shows you God's forgiveness and how hard it is to forgive sometimes. It was a good reminder to myself. I loved it!!!
