Curvy single mom in trouble + elite alien warrior = a chance at the forever kind of love. Three strikes and he's out. Zoriah's rebellious teenage son is in trouble again- this time, on purpose. She'll do anything to prevent her family breaking up, even allow her children to train for the alien Yadeshi army. Why raise your sword if you have no mate or family? Elite alien warrior Benyon spends his time on Earth training humans in martial arts. He's come to love the three human children with warrior-spirits, and will do anything to prevent their unhappiness- even if it means going toe-to-toe with their mother- a woman who entices him with her fierce temper, lush beauty and strength of will to raise her children alone. But she doesn't have to be alone- he won't allow it, not when he's made up his mind she should be his. All he has to do is convince her that alien warriors do it bigger, harder and badder. And when their family is threatened by a spurned would-be lover, Benyon seizes the opportunity to prove his worth. After all, there's more to him than just his big, blue... tattoo. This is a steamy hot, science fiction romance for readers who love BBW and alpha male alien warriors. Perfect for your lunch break read.
Emma is a Black/white Muslim American mom of five, ages 6-22, in her mid-forties just trying to live her best life…which usually includes coffee, wine, and an unfortunate habit of one-clicking any pretty special edition that winds up in her feed. (If you DM it, she will come.)
She likes K-pop (#army, #moa) cultivation dramas (Till the End of the Moon,) precioussss silence, and collects more makeup than she uses.
She bends knee to Michelle Sagara West, Anne Bishop, N.K. Jemisin, Grace Draven, J.D. Robb, and Nalini Singh—a nod to Sanderson, Goodkind, Eddings, McCaffrey, and McKinley.
If you are looking for romantic epic fantasy set in complex, diverse, sex positive worlds with morally gray societies, powerful anti-heroes with THAD energy, multi-racial heroines at least 35—if not 350—coming into power, and a central theme of family, both dysfunctional and supportive, then you will binge her stories..
Warrior’s Bond is book one in the Yadeshi Brides series by Emma Alisyn.
Zoriah, is a single mother of three working two jobs.
Benyon, is a blue warrior alien on earth to train the kids that apply to the Yadeshi program.
I felt this story was rushed and things didn’t flow well. We barely get any background on the Yadeshi and we don’t get any history on how they came to be on earth, nor do we zip off to an alien plant in this story. We also don’t get to dive into the characters.
From what I understand about the world. Earth’s government isn’t nice and they are regulating their people, in that once you are in a class level you stay and don't get a chance to improve your situation. They are also hiding all the benefits of joining the Yadeshi organization from it's earth citizens.
I found some things interesting, like the Yadeshi and their training program, but we don’t get to dive into it all, so I was disappointed on the lack of information and world building. The romance was a slow, sweet, and a nice courtship.
The major downside with this book for me besides the lack of flow, information, and world building is that we actually ended at 62%. The last 40% of this book is all advertisement for the other books in the Yadeshi Brides series. I don't like when an author does this. It’s misleading the readers and not giving us a full story.
Warrior’s Bond was ok, but didn’t win me over. Their was potential, but it need more. If the blurb intrigues you, I urge you to give it a shot. Just because it did not work for me does not mean it won’t for you.
I enjoyed this book. In the plethora of "Alien warrior romance' trope, for me, it stood out from the pack because of the main characters.
On plus side: The h who is a mature woman and not a plucky virgin (Hooray for good sense!) There is no growling "Mine" 10 seconds after first meeting. The H who behaves as an intelligent being instead of intergalactic cave man and understands courtship. There is no dripping, dribbling, gushing or a pair of soaked panties in sight.(Hallelujah! With all those fluids leaking authors make it sounds as entire female population is afflicted with either disease or incontinence )
On minus side: It is too short for what it tried to achieve, so there are areas that suffered , such as background story and world-building. Both the ending and resolution felt abrupt - they lacked satisfactory "The end" roundness .
There is plenty of room for growth and future development for this series, and I will be looking forward to it.
What could have just been a 3 star read was dragged down to the current rating because the heroine got on my last nerve. She was so freaking ungrateful. If I was what's his name, I would've smacked some sense into her. The sex came at the very end and was pretty forgettable. The guy was an ok hero. He was caring and didn't take advantage of the stupid heroine when he could have. But their romance was lame.
This book was rolling along nicely and then the couple had sex and all the romance was done. We get no time of being in love, of becoming a family, of living on an alien planet. Felt very ripped off narratively.
I liked the premise of the story and how it unfolded, however, the writing seemed stilted and felt bumpy. You know how it feels when your driving down a road that hasn’t been maintained, you go up and down and back again. This hender the flow of the story. Also, the story rushed a little and the Hero and Heroine had a disconnect too me. Overall, the story was good.
An amazing plot with many unexpected twists and turns, unique characters and situations. It keeps you guessing and on your toes as unpredictable adventures pops up through out the story! They will face many dangers, evil, misunderstandings, jealousy, and betrayal! Will their faith and love be strong enough?
I was very confused the whole time as to the feeling the author was trying to evoke or convey. This is in regards to the characters and their behaviours as well as plot etc. I just felt very detached from it all and unconvinced by the plot
I have read all the books in this series and was impressed and enjoyed all of them. The author has built a believeable world that keeps the reader engauged through all the books. I just wish there were more of them.
Zoriah is trying to give her family the best life possible for someone who will never be able to move out of the lowest level class. Working two jobs and showing her kids what she expects of them. What she does not expect of them is to get 3 marks on their record. This will then lead to the despicable government coming to look at Zoriah’s family, and potentially take her three children from her. That is until her son tells her one more thing that scares her out of her mind. He has been learning how to fight from the blue aliens that live on Earth. Benyon is one of the highest level warriors on his planet. And now he teaches those, who desire to learn, how to protect those they love. Benyon never thought he would come to respect three of the prospects. Zoriah’s children. So when they ask a favor of him he goes to help. This one favor may lead to his future mate. This was a great short read. I really enjoyed the “blue man” dynamics, and how the aliens are trying to sustain their lives by wishing to reproduce with viable women. The book was engaging as well as short and sweet. I especially loved when Benyon realized women don’t always want nice. That was a great scene that any women worth her salt would love. And any man would do great to remember. I would definitely recommend this short read to a paranormal romance lover. ~I received an ARC in return for an honest review.
This new world where the lower class are left with few life choice and automatic assigment to that class by default because of underage sex, pregnancy and marriage. This would make you wonder what the hell. But I was pulled in by the complication of the class system and the fact that aliens inhabited the Earth with a bargain in place. Earth's women give themselves over to a system that could change their world. And their lives.
Zoriah finds that she has been a victim of the system. She has little resources and three children to raise. Only to find that her oldest child has chosen a new path for his life and in turn the lives of his whole family. This was the turning point for their family. Benyon was an alien to this world but he knew that his life was lacking. Until the day three spirited warriors entered his life, then they came to him with a problem. A problem that could change his world.
I enjoyed this introduction to this series. I am going to get right on reading more. The only issue was the typing errors and the constant dashes (-) where there was no need to have them.
I always loved science fiction, but to add romance and well written story in mix and I'm pulled in. I love alfa male and strong woman characters and their battle of will.
I found this storyline to be enjoyable, entertaining, and intriguing. Ms. Alisyn is another author with a wonderful ability to draw her readers into her world of sci-fi, easily making the characters and the world they live on seem very real and certainly fascinating. As an alien romance, this dramatic adventure has mystery and suspense woven into the storyline, keeping you wandering what is going to happen next around the corner. Being an alien on this new planet, Zoriah finds herself at the centre of a cultural dispute, involving the man she has just bonded with, hoping the people she meets around the town including any of Benyons past problems, are happy to accept her into their community, Zoriah finds she has unwittingly created herself an enemy. Who tries to seem like an honest friend, a woman that Zoriah believed was a friend of Benyons, appears to have her own ideas of who should be at Benyons side and ut certainly is not Zoriah. Zoriah, as an independent woman with a deep connection to her husband, Benyon, will believe in him and what they have before listening to other gossip from others who hope to break the pair up. Entertaining and dramatic with interesting characters, as a sci-fi romance with intrigue and mystery throughout the tale, reader’s will be highly entertained with both the characters and the complex situations, so if you enjoy the quirks of an alien romance, you’re going to enjoy this.
Loved this book! I was happy to see an alien-human love story with an older woman as the love interest. Zoriah is a single mother in a world where the government takes entirely too much interest in her life. Her oldest child, Khalid, has broken the rules for the third time and this will mean Social Intervention will remove him from the home which will mean her housing allotment will be reduced and her whole family will be displaced. When he admits to skipping school to train with the Yadeshi, and apparently taking his two younger siblings with him. Admittance into the YETI training program will mean he is out of the clutches of SI, but what will it mean for his future?
Benyon is a Yadeshi warrior who has been training students at the YETI on Earth. He is near the end of his assignment and plans to return to his planet and work his family farm. When Khalid comes to him with his story, Benyon agrees to talk to his mother and try to convince her to sign the paperwork allowing her son to join the training program. But once he sees her he has a whole other list of things he wants.
I am not going to spoil the story for you. You will enjoy it if you like these types of books. There is even a glimpse into the future to wrap up the HEA.
Warrior's Bond is a spicy-sweet alien romance with an interesting wrinkle or two. Zoriah, the BBW human woman, is a bit older, and a bit rougher. She's a 'welfare mom' with three children, no man, a crappy job and no prospects. The alien, Benyon, in addition to being sexy and hunky, is sort of a martial arts master/alien ROTC instructor. They meet when her teenage son gets into trouble and Social Services is about to break up her family. Benyon's Yadeshi warrior training becomes an unexpected solution to Zoriah's mounting woes. Benyon becomes a drill instructor, a father figure, and a seemingly reluctant suitor. Zoriah is the strong one who puts it all out there for the love she never thought she'd find. Great heroine. Good story. Good writing. So good I downloaded and read the next two Yadeshi Brides books!
I pushed to finish this one, Warning Spoilers Ahead..., the FMC was likable in the beginning but then turned into an " I don't know ...maybe" character, the one that u think can't be that dimwitted about the MMC and as their romance finally progresses things keep happening to slow them down, jealous female, screwy paperwork??? they never explained that one,, Again jealous female... Blah, blah. And done. Jump to the end 15 years later , she's given birth to 6 additional kids, she already had 3. Aaanndd it just don't add up, time wise . nothing about humans living longer etc.. And she's in her 30's with a teenage son when the romance starts. Its a shame, this writer can write but wow ! The contents were just boring. Oh, and the part where the husband helps with the GIRDLE, Why would you put that in ?? couldn't have made the ending worse.
Writing: good Plot: ok Characters: well-defined with clear motivations - great World-building: subtle but present Romance believable with chemistry? yes
The author doesn’t put any separation in the story, but this very much get like 2 stories that flow into each other. I really liked the first half - when they are on Earth. The world building is subtle, but I found it more present than other reviewers said. Romance was sweet and character development worked.
The second half really kicks off a whole different story, and I wasn’t a huge fan of it. I’m not a huge fan of sequels where our couple is ripped apart and have to deal with some external issue. I’d much rather have no sequel and let them just be happy together.
I had fun with this story. I appreciated that Zoriah and Benyon are mature in both age and attitude. I loved Zoriah’s momma bear fierceness in defence of her children and I really liked the ‘courtliness’ of Benyon’s seduction of her. My only real complaint with the book is that it felt too short for the story it’s telling. There are several parts of the book I would have liked to know more about, particularly Zoriah’s rival and what happens after the marking. Hopefully these are things that future books in the series will be able to touch back on so that I can get the questions I still have answered.
Great storyline with instances of betrayal, intrigue, jealousy, and some steamy attraction. Zoriah & Benyon are both stubborn, independent characters who initially clash over her children. When their attraction grows, Zoriah agrees to go to Yedahn as his mate, taking the children with them. Outside influences are determined to interrupt their bonding and they must trust each other and work together to solve the problems they encounter. The added chapters give this book more volume and interest. Wonderful read.
This is a short alien romance which revolves around Zoriah doing everything in her power for her three children and keeping them together as a family. She was afraid, when her oldest son got into trouble for the third time, that they would be separated. But she was lucky and didn't have to break her family up as long as her children could continue to train with Adekhan Benyon. Now Benyon was hot for Zoriah but it wasn't easy for him to convince her of love and family. Zoriah had her family which now includes Benyon.
Benyon is warrior alien teaching Zoriah's children his disapline. Khalid is sixteen; the rwo girls, Reign and Ashe, are younger. He realizes that they are mates. Now all he has to convince her.
I love the description of the aliens, who are warriors. The caste system on the earth: 1st tier (wealthy), 2nd tier, and 3rd tier (poor) with no movement among the tiers that is a contrast between the two worlds. An enjoyable fast paced book comes highly recommended.
What was happening in this book? It’s jumped way too much. The bullshit ending with the other woman drama which I fucking hated. It didn’t even make sense. This wasn’t great. Nothing in this book made sense. I just finished the book and can tell you this was 183 pages of nothing. I felt like the author started writing and made shit up and not in a good way. Like she was writing and thought hmmm maybe I’ll add this. Or hmm maybe this would be good.
Spoiler. It was not. I can’t tell you good thing about this book.
I really enjoyed this book . The characters were likable and realistic. The story line is a little different than most other sci fi paranormal romance novels . First the main characters are in their 30's (- ish for Benyon ) . The woman has 3 kids , yet the male alien wants her . She makes him work for her love , which he is willing to do . The ending is happy , though a little predictable .
It's a great story, love the interaction between the lovers and the children. My big problem is the book is listed as 200 pages long. However the story ends at 173. The last 27 pages are devoted to giving the first chapters of the following 2 books in the series.
Can't help feeling I've been cheated. Plus I don't like reading a full chapter of any further books unless I'm reading the book. So yes enjoy the story but it's not as long as I would like.
Zoriah had no idea when she was called to school about her son that the this was going to make a change in her life. Benyon was surprised when his human cadet asked him to speak to his mother as she had just found out that he had been a truant missing school and hadn't told her that he was going to training. When these two people met sparks flew. What happens next is what will enchant readers and why I would highly recommend this book to all.
I picked this book up free on Amazon it sounded great but in the end it was just not for me I did not connect with the characters so I was not invested In what happened to them I was expecting more Romance building of the bond from reading the plot but I never really got that feeling it seemed to go from 2 single people one with 3 kids to ready made family and we all love and respect each other but for me it seemed more like I was told that rather than I felt it from the writing.
I got this novella in exchange for a voluntary review. Mercy is matched to an alien of the Mahdfel. She is matched to Paax, a warrior scientist. The author writes a goof science fiction love story and earth's protectors and their need for brides. This is a good story about earth's humans and the Madhfel.
For a short story this one delivers on imagery and "feels". I like that Zoriah is believable as a single mother and her kids are also realistic. Benyon is so sweet and loyal and sexy. For SciFi romance fans this is well worth the read, I just wish it was longer.
I don't (usually) give less than 3 stars. But I cannot give 3 stars to this book when I could not finish it. Well. I couldn’t even start. Stucked on 4% of this... Hmmm... Book, and was not able to read further. Short review. Honest. Although, some people may like it. Some people like pineapple on pizzas too (gag)
