***I was provided with a complimentary ARC of this book by the publisher, through netgalley.com, in exchange for honest feedback.***

Wow! This book blew me away! It was a little slow to get started for me, but once it picked up, I couldn't tear myself away from it. I'm still trying to pinpoint how I feel about it. I haven't read a book that left me feeling so conflicted in quite some time. I'm dying to get my hands on the next book.

I guess I'll start out by telling you a little about Dixon. He's got that all-male hotness that draws you in and leaves you wanting more. As a Psychiatrist, it's a miracle he hasn't had his medical license revoked for sleeping with his patients. However, that unsavory tidbit just seems to up his forbidden, bad-boy appeal. He makes no apologies for who he is...and he knows he's an ass.

Although, we get glimpses of his softer side as well. His manwhoring ways were triggered by his ex-fiancées betrayal with his then best friend. It was all downhill for him after that. He literally threw caution to the wind and lost himself between as many female thighs as he could get to spread for him. It wasn't pretty.

He soon finds himself drawn to two women that are polar opposites. One appeals to his baser needs only, while the other consumes him wholly. A man with serious trust issues, he doesn't always make the logical, or wise, choice. He's afraid to lose himself in love again, only to be crushed.

He keeps the sexually aggressive Juliet around as a repeat booty-call. She's always interested and always available. He doesn't care to know much about her, beyond the fact that she is highly skilled in the sack, but she's easy and keeping her around saves him the effort of having to hunt for other willing women.

Meanwhile, he just can't seem to shake his feelings for the captivating Madison. He knows that she's the kind of girl that he could get lost in and he's afraid to go there again. Yet, no matter how many times he screws up, fate seems to keep throwing these two back together again.

All the while, Dixon has his two friends trying to steer him in the right direction. At least, their hearts were in the right place even when they steered him wrong. Together, these three were absolutely hilarious. I laughed so hard at their banter that I had tears in my eyes. It really helped to keep the story from getting too emotional or sad at times.

Eventually, Dixon seems to get his head on straight and things with him and Madison are finally coming together. Nothing is ever that easy though, so don't think you'll get to bask in those warm fuzzier for long. Juliet really is a super-bitch of epic proportions and she's not ready to take her claws out of Dixon just yet.

Although I had guessed one of the twists fairly early on, it in no way prepared me for everything that transpired in the last 5 - 10% of this book. Holy hell! Ms. James turned my world upside down! I feel completely gutted and I am dying to see where this story will go from here.

The only negative point, was that there were a fair amount of typos, misplaced words, etc. However, I did read an ARC, so many of these errors will likely be corrected in the published editions. Otherwise, I have nothing but positive things to say about this book. It was awesome!

As an aside, this book has now been published under the title 'Dirty Dix'. I am currently reading an ARC for the second part of this story, but almost missed it due to the new title.

I think the most important thing to start with is to say that if you read the description and give up reading this because of love triangles, let me tell you, there isn't it, and also there are no cheating. How the hell? Well, you'll have to read.

***

About the plot: Dr. Dixon Mathews is addicted to sex. Sounds good? Not really. His unsatisfied desire leads to the fact that he fu*ks everything possible, no matter where and when, whether it is ethical or not. Once he was a caring and loving guy. However, his fiancée cheated on him with his best friend. His family situation is also not the best. Gently speaking. It changed his whole life, and he began to seek pleasure in easy ways. However momentary pleasure ends with regret, shame and disgust for himself. He really has no interest in women. He does what he must to fulfill his needs.

The situation changes dramatically when one week he meets two women. One innocent and pure, the other sinful and intriguing. He desires both, but must choose. And his not-so-soft cock got him into trouble.

A little thoughts: Dixon makes decisions very early, at 30% of the book. What happens next is that he must deal with the consequences of his decision. I do not want to say much more about the plot. I think its better read it with unknowing, just be more interesting.

The first part is completely outstanding. Although very easy to predict the twist that is waiting for us, the book also can be able to surprise. Unfortunately, somewhere in the middle is terribly frustrating. You will need to drink... and not unclear to me, I think inadequate to a situation, also too dramatic. But in the end we have again great moments, and although the book ends with a cliff and uncertainty, it strongly encouraged to wait for the second part.

I have to say about Dixon's friends. They give fantastic funny moments. You can laugh and quote at will. They indeed behave like a bunch of gossiping women. What is even more fun, of course.

“Women are trouble, and I plan on living like Hugh Hefner.”
“Old, lonely and addicted to Viagra?”

This is very different. He is a man-whore, but it isn't confident. He isn't an alpha male, to what we are used to. As I wrote at the beginning is not a normal love triangle, there is no betraying. The greater part of the book is from the perspective of a guy addicted to sex and wanting something what he is afraid to reach again. It's refreshing for me and interesting.

My biggest problem? I could not give it five stars because he actually did not fight for who he really want. Even when she sent him a cheesecake ... Christ, how could you! But I can not also give less, because hell I want more and the next book like yesterday. But if he will not fight for her in the second book, and god knows, he has before him a lot of fight, I do not take responsibility for my own words.

So I love it, I want more. What to say? Monica, please I am waiting!

3 STARS! ★★★

This was a read that I thought had great potential but fizzled out at some point later on. I didn't exactly hate this read but I didn't love it either.

What I liked about this read was it was mainly driven by a male POV which was quite refreshing. I thought it started out great with the smartass humor that Dixon brings. He's a rather smug and cocky guy, being a psychiatrist who deals with addiction. To add onto that, apparently he's a sex addict too and has no qualms of banging his female patients.

“But I never said I was the hero of this story, or even the good guy. And besides, who wants to be good, when it feels so good being bad?”

But then suddenly within one day, he finds himself attracted to two women who's "different" than most random women he bangs which leaves him in a predicament of having the trouble to pick one. We have Juliet, one of his patient who's a sex addict too and could give him everything he craves for: sex with no relationship. Another is Madison, the complete opposite of Juliet; sweet and innocent and makes Dixon launch into protective mode with her.

It's not a love triangle per se as it's more obvious than not who Dixon really wants but I can't help but be slightly annoyed by the indecisiveness that he had between choosing one. Most of the time, his dick seems to be calling the shots and just made me want to skim over the sex scenes. Also, Dixon seems to have it too easy for him when he tries to get Madison back.

The book does end in a mini cliffhanger and there'll be a second book somewhere early next year. Overall, the writing was pretty good but I just expected more in terms of the storyline and characters.

3.5 stars!

What I liked...

>Addicted to Sin is told entirely in Dixon's POV. And even though his inner monologue did make me cringe from time to time, I still liked it. Maybe because he's self-aware and he totally owns up to his mistakes, I dunno. But yeah, I enjoyed reading it.

>This book was also very hot. Like off the charts hot.

>The writing flowed. I was sucked in from beginning to end.

What I didn't like...

>It was quite obvious who's who and for someone who was smart, I wondered why Dixon didn't figure it out. Or even try to find out and get to the bottom of things.

>The whole sexing during therapy session was just...cheap. Yes, I know this is fiction and all that but I expected Dixon to know better. His professionalism is totally non-existent. I was cringing at how blase he was about the whole situation.

I definitely liked this enough that I can't wait to read the next book. Color me intrigue. I'm pretty sure there will be drama, and I still don't think the whole Lilly situation is settled, by the way. So I'm curious how the author will handle that one.

"Who wants to be good, when it feels so good being bad?"

This is not a "love triangle" story... At least it didn't feel like one to me... It's a bit more complicating than that because we are dealing with some pretty messed-up people as MCs...

Dixon Mathews is a psychiatrist specializing in addiction. The oxymoron here is that Dixon himself "suffers" from an addiction... Yep, that's right, our sexy psychiatrist is a self-diagnosed sex addict. I mean this man will do anything that moves, anytime at anyplace - which is kinda gross - and he even goes as far as messing around with some of his patients. He understands how dangerous his behavior is but unfortunately he doesn't seem able - or willing - to help himself.

He finds himself at a crossroads when he meets two women who intrigue him. Madison, a 23 year old student who is sweet, beautiful and pure - and basically nothing like the women he f***s - and Juliet who is sexy, confident and an insatiable fellow sex-addict. Madison has her own demons to fight and Juliet is the definition of a woman with "daddy issues". He decides that he wants to change his life around and try to settle down with one of them. The difficult part is who to choose??? Should he go with something familiar and risk-free, or should he try to put himself out there by choosing the one he really really likes but also holds the power to potentially break his heart.

Needless to say this was a very interesting and addictive read (pun totally intended) and the only reason i rated it 4 stars instead of 5 is because i figured out the twist pretty early (around 20%), so i missed the whole "holy crap, what did just happen???" feeling at the end.

There were also some LOL moments, especially whenever Hunter (Dixon's best friend) was around!

"You're telling me a smokin' hot, gorgeous girl, was in your apartment, in your bed, and you did nothing?"
"Yes, that's exactly what I'm telling you."
"Not even a blowjob?"
"No."
"Hand job?"
"No."
"Foreplay?"
"No."
"Making out?"
"No."
"Dry-humping?"
"No."
"What about some over the clothes touching?"
"No."
"A sexual massage, which led to some kind of skin-on-skin contact, which then led to some kind of penetration?"
"No."
"Dirty pillow talk?"
"No."
"Playing footsie?"
"No."
"What about some peeping Tom action when she was sleeping?"
"No."
"Faked sexomnia?"
"Fuck, you're one sick man."

I had to share that! Hunter (a.k.a Debbie) is the best :)

PS. This ends on a cliffhanger... You've been warned!

To be honest, I was hesitate to pick up Dirty Dix. I thought this is a love triangle with OTT drama. At the end I just picked it up. And I am blown away by Miss James.

She proofing herself as a talented writer. Dixon is a complicated hero. He is faced with 2 decision about 2 women in his life. And Dirty Dix delivered. It packed with so many drama, tragedy and twisted plot here and now. Although Miss James dropping spoiler here and now through out her story.

I usually do not like too many drama/ plot since it will distract me from the main story. In Dirty Dix, it is actually quite opposite. It brings the story alive.

Monica James sure kicked this series off with a bang. Or two. Or several. Yet another one of her character creations that you just can't get enough of. Characters you can't help but love, and characters that you love to hate.

description

addiction [uh-dik-shuh-n]
noun
1.
the state of being enslaved to a habit or practice or to something that is psychologically or physically habit-forming, as narcotics, to such an extent that its cessation causes severe trauma.

description

Dixon
Sinfully Sexy. He's a psychiatrist. At 32 years of age, he helps people deal and cope with addiction. Whether it be drugs, food, or even sex , for $500 an hour, he's your man.

Dixon is dealing with a nasty breakup that he can't seem to get over. But like they say, the way to get over someone by getting under another. In Dixon's case, he's gotten under, behind, over, next to, in front of, on top of - oh, you get the idea. He fucked. A lot. He's got the entrancing blue eyes and sparkle-when-he-smiles beam. So if women are freely throwing themselves at you? Why not? Well, why not, until it always ends with shame, sweat and regret. But yet, to forget his past, he has to get lost in women. It's a difficult cycle for him to break, but why break it if it brings you pleasure? And if in breaking it, brings you misery? Oh wait, almost sounds like an addiction, huh? How ironic, being that he's specialized in dealing with those pesky things....and he can't seem to rid himself of it.

Juliet Harte shows up for an appointment with Dixon. Juliet Harte is a bombshell of a woman if Dixon's ever seen one. And as aforementioned, he's seen them. She's dealing with an addiction, and I'm not quite sure if she's ever really wanted to conquer this addiction? The stunning, sexual and incredibly sexy Juliet is addicted to sex. To say Juliet understands the meaning of forward is an understatement. During her session, she makes sure that she puts it all out on the table for Dixon. That way he has not one iota of an excuse to be confused of her intentions. He definitely likes what he's seeing. Well, other than that whole patient-doctor thing. But what's consequences to an addiction.

description

description

Madison
The Girl Next Door. She a student, who's smart, innocent, and witty. But with her innocence comes a dark past. One she's trying to leave behind her but finds herself battling a difficult battle.
Madison runs into Dixon the same day of Dixon's encounter with Juliet, and there's an immediate attraction between the two. They hang out and have a good time in each other's company. Which is odd for Dixon - he doesn't hang out with girls. Madison is trying to open up to Dixon but her demons still have a strong hold on her. Her beautiful soul shows through with the internal battle she faces and the faces she wears for show. As she softens up to the idea of Dixon, Dixon comes to the conclusion he wants other things in life. His addiction. - While there was definitely attraction at first sight, I love that Monica didn't give them the insta-love relationship. The road for the both of them, whether they're together or not, is a bumpy one. They're having to battle issues of their own as well as together.

The steam did not disappoint.
Yes, there were some frustrating moments when I read this book, but I still adored the story. The twist was fairly easy to predict, but yet there were still sprinkles of surprises that popped up to keep the story intriguing. The characters were well developed and I felt an almost-instant connection to them with how each character is introduced; even the secondary characters. The flow of the story was effortless, even with the time lapses. Word to the wise, however, this ends with a bitchin' cliffhanger.

I definitely recommend this to readers who want angst and steam.

Dr. Dixon Mathews is the total package. A successful psychiatrist, too gorgeous for his own good, he is also cocky, arrogant and a complete manwhore. You get the picture ! However, Ms James made me instantly love this character, with the brilliant, honest and witty way she brings his voice to life. He knows he is a mess and sees himself as a bad person without moral or ethics. After a damaging break-up, he has never dealt with his emotional scars. He helps others, but he didn’t help himself. For this reason, he refuses to commit or be emotionally involved.

His life gets complicated when he meets two women who are polar opposite and is interested in both of them, for different reasons.

When one night, he is forced to intervene to rescue Madison Roberts from an assailant, he is fascinated by her sweetness. Shortly later, Juliet Harte becomes his patient. Juliet is a toxic character but very quickly, Dixon is unable to resist her sexual appeal, despite the possible consequences of having a relationship with a patient.

With Madison, everything is different. He enjoys her company, being with her makes him happy and he hasn’t for a long time. She brings out Dixon protective side, and as the story progressed, Dixon falls hard for Madison. For the first time since he was betrayed by the woman he loved, he has hope and wants to make amends for his manwhoring ways.

Madison is a wonderful and honest character, but she sees herself as broken by events in her past. Being with Dixon gives her the strength to refuse to allow her secrets to weigh her down anymore. Dixon and Madison’s relationship is based on hope, trust and a feeling of safety. But all that could be destroyed by Juliet.

I really enjoyed reading Dirty Dix (previously titled “Addicted to Sin’”). I loved the way the author brings Madison and Dixon’s voice to life. This story was suspenseful, with an interesting and provocative plot, elegant writing and great characters. It ends with a mild cliffhanger, but the sequel “Wicked Dix” is available.

~~4.5 HEARTS~~

This book definitely did not start off slow. It pulls you in right at the very beginning. When I first started I wasn't really sure how I felt about the book, but once I got to know the characters it was smooth sailing for me from there. This is told in a dual POV. You get to see through the eyes of Dr. Dixon Mathews and Madison. Dixon is a psychiatrist that specializes in addiction. He's a manwhore that dabbles with having sex with some of his female clients. Yes, very unethical and unprofessional. Dr. Mathews has an addiction himself. He's addicted to SEX. Yep! That's right. So who does a Addiction Doctor go see when he, himself has an addiction that he can't break? Well in Dixon's case, he takes matters into his own hands. He has meaningless, faceless, sex with any willing and wanting females.

Dixon was hurt bad by his ex-fiancee. He wanted to give her everything her heart desires, but unfortunately she found comfort and love in the arms of one of Dixon's friends. The ultimate betrayal has harden Dixon's outlook on things. He's scared to give his heart to another woman only to get hurt again, so the only way he copes is to have meaningless sex so he can try to fill that void.

The sex scenes in this book was scorching hot! There were a few things that didn't sit right with me. One being, how Madison felt it necessary to still attend her brother's engagement party after everything he put her through and the other being, someone that she trusted saw the heinous acts that were happening to her but chose to turn the other way and say and do nothing!

I was not bored while reading this book. There were twist and turns in this book that you didn't see coming which is always a plus for me. This book captivated my attention and I devoured it. I was lucky enough to receive a copy of an advance readers copy and I can't wait for book 2 to find out how Dixon gets himself out of the mess he's caused himself. I really hope Ms. Monica James has already written it and has a expected published date for book 2 because I am addicted to these characters and this story-line that I need MORE now!

Addicted to Sin (Sinful Pleasures #1)
By Monica James

“Addiction ~ the continued repetition of a behavior despite adverse consequences, or a neurological impairment leading to such behaviors.”

Monica James has quite the wicked brain it seems and there was me thinking that she was all sweet and innocent. Addicted to Sin…addicted to Dixon more like.

“However, who wants to be good, when it feels so good being bad?”

Dixon is one cocky, self assured arse at times but underneath all that is a man with a broken heart who is just abusing his body and the women to get over his heart break. Dixon is a psychiatrist who specialises in addiction, whether it be drugs, food, alcohol or even sex. Every addiction stems from something and he is a pro at seeing underneath the layers to get to the root of the problem. He is well renowned in his field but he is also hiding something…he too is addicted to sex. This addiction is a way of him forgetting his past, he deems this as taking control of his life and hopefully leaving his heart in a safe place, safe from being broken again…but is it just masking an issue that is just going to fester over time.

“We meet three years ago in a line at Starbucks, and it was love at first macchiato.”

Dixon’s interest is piqued by two women and this is a novelty in itself, this is the first time he has been “interested” in more with anyone. On one hand we have the devil, Juliet and the other an angel, Madison. It is ironic that he literally meets these two women within weeks of each other and now he has a dilemma…his dick tells him one woman, but his head tells him the other.

“Even for a stolen moment, I just want to forget how much it hurts to love someone who doesn’t love you back.”

This is not a love triangle per se and there is no cheating for those that abhor that particular plot device. This is a story where a man has to make choices, make decisions, heart or head (and at times it was the second head if you know what I mean), but a man needing to rediscover himself. A man needing to move on from his past and open his eyes and see what this future could possibly be, providing he makes the right choices. Devil or Angel, Devil or Angel, Devil or Angel…who would you choose?

Madison was a really sweet girl, the kind that you wouldn’t hesitate to take home to mum; she is dedicated, hardworking and just darn cute and perfect. But Madison is also a woman that has the potential to destroy him. Dixon could get lost in Madison and this worries and troubles him, he is so conflicted…can he open himself up once again?

Juliet is not relationship material and for Dixon is the safest option, she tends more to his baser, carnal needs and is a minx in the sack. She is quite content with a quick fuck whenever the need arises and they both scratch each others itches. They have had this booty call thing going on for a while but there is something about Juliet…she is definitely the devil in disguise.

“But just so we’re clear, I’m no one’s bitch. You just signed a deal with the devil, sweetheart.”

I loved Dixon and Madison and I hated Juliet with a passion and could have quite easily committed murder, and I loved his friends. There was some fantastic witty banter throughout when these lads got together and it really balanced the book perfectly and had me laughing out loud many a time.

“What greater punishment is there than life when you’ve lost everything that made it worth living?” ~ Romeo and Juliet, William Shakespeare

This is the first book of a new series and my interest has really been piqued, I desperately want to know what happens going forward and cannot wait to see where Monica James takes this. I’m officially Addicted!!

I got to read an early copy of this book, and whoa! This book knocked me on my butt, it twisted me up in knots and consumed me until the end. Just be warned, it is not your typical romance. It's a wild ride with a naughty, naughty man.

ARC received via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Despite the warning in the book description, this was not at all what I expected. To be frank, the first half of the book just disgusted me. If I hadn't received this as an ARC, I would have put the book down and not finished it. This has nothing to do with the author or her style of writing. In fact, I can honestly say Monica James is a very talented writer. It's just not my kind of story.

The book is done in the males POV, which I happen to like and it wouldn't have worked any other way. Despite the first half making me want to puke, the author actually started to turn the story around for me. I almost thought I was going to end up liking the book by the end, but then the results of Dixon's disgusting behavior came back to bite him in the ass. This left this book off with a cliffhanger implying things in the next book that just makes me want to scream.

I honestly don't know if I will read the next book. If the book starts out like it implies, my answer is hell no! But, we all know the story doesn't always end the way you think it will. I could end up loving this series and will depend on the author.

I don't want to give any spoilers but just to warn you there is darker material in this book than I was expecting and the actions of some of the characters were just vile. Again, I do believe the author can turn this book around for me but I would be taking a chance that she might cross the line I personally have for this type of book. Just be forewarned this is not a sweet romantic book and I don't know if you'll love Dixon or hate him.

Despite the warning in the synopsis to expect the unexpected, I'm afraid I just didn't expect the things in this book.

Now whilst the whole concept is nothing new, regardless of the warning I had high hopes for Dixon, a psychiatrist who specialised in addiction, but sadly he is what ultimately ruined this book for me. I know he claims not to be the hero, but I at least expected the man to be sexy. I did not like him one bit. Firstly it was his failure to keep his genitals in his pants. I mean he claims to have some connection to the sweet and innocent Madison, yet couldn't turn down the devil's spawn that is Juliet. Now some may wonder what the problem with that is, but to me the man came across as weak and cowardly. He displayed so much self pity and the fact that he not only was someone who I would very much expect to be a walking advertisement for an STD commercial, I just found myself thinking he also needed to get over his ex fiancé, Lily. I could sympathise with his aversion to relationships, I get that he had been hurt in the past, but it was his weak mind that very much made me despise him.

Lines such as this one "I find myself staring at her like a creepy old pervert" and "Not that long ago, I recall you not having any qualms touching a certain little girl,” were pretty off putting and not something I want to hear from ANY fictional man. Which leads me onto my next point. What kind of pheromones was this guy giving off? Because I tell you, women were round Dixon like dogs on heat. I felt like diving in the book and telling them to stop with the desperation. It became totally unbelievable by the end.

I also found too many coincidences in this book. Madison or Juliet would always turn up at the right/wrong moment. New York is a pretty big place and some of these coincidences even spread to Boston, now whilst I admit I love an unexpected appearance of a character now and again, in this instance it was just too much.

Another major issue I had seemed to be that there is a huge flaw in the plotline surrounding Madison and her past. For obvious reasons I don't want to go into what that is, as it could potentially ruin the book for anyone wishing to read it, but the use of a couple of words have been totally misconstrued and to my knowledge have not been used in the right context and they contradict the other.

Also Madison reveals something near the end and to me, I felt this cheapened the story. I've read books that have touched on this subject and were probably a lot more graphic, but due to the nature of the book and the misinterpretation of words, I really do believe that this subject could have been better dealt with.

The book ends in a way that leaves no doubt there will be another book, but for me personally the ending was too abrupt. It simply felt rushed.

Despite my misgivings, I do feel the book was pretty well edited, in so much as the sentence structures and dialogue were well put together and that in itself shows the author does have a talent for writing, but the whole plot of this book just wasn't for me. I'd like to point out that it didn't shock me, as I like to think I've read quite a diverse collection of books, but maybe if it was told entirely in Madison's perspective, I may have had a completely different reaction, but I wish the author every success and it is with regret that this book just wasn't for me.

I was completely hooked right off the bat. Dixon is a flawed character who suffers through internal conflict that affects him deeply later on. He makes mistakes. Madison is a character that is well suffered yet appeals to Dixon in a way that is very special. Juliet is also very flawed and it's hard to get a read on her until more of her connection is revealed toward the end. I am more than a little curious to find out how the story unfolds. It was very gripping and sexy as hell.

I loved this. It has my triggers, but let me just say, my triggers were formed when NA author's decided to create doormat heroines and cheating, without a cause, heroes.

This book isn't safe. You start getting to know Dix, and no, you're not going to like him. You aren't meant to. He's truly messed up.

Then there's Julia and Madison. Now I want to give a shout out to my GR friend Vasiliki who answered a few questions before I knew I can try reading this book :)

Is it a love triangle? lol, not at all. The feelings he has for them are very different. While one (Madison) terrifies him, the other (Julia) is easy.

He's in a messed up place and meets both woman during the same time. Does he make the right choice in the beginning? No, but ... I'm going to try to explain even though I'm finding it very difficult to put it into words. The author used a trope where I've read in an NA book and I HATED. But here I didn't not at all.

There have been a handful of books where my triggers are embedded and explored in such a raw way that I can understand, FEEL and love the story and the journey it takes it get there. This book is a part of it.

She delved deep into the psychology of Dix, if he had done things any other way would've made me roll my eyes, because, it wasn't him, not at that period of time. His psych wasn't at a point where he can act differently. In fact, this book portrays Dix's self-discovery journey. It's so multi-layered and maturely written that I loved the realism and the journey itself. I loved that the author was able to make me believe in Dix's LOVE for Maddison in the end despite my reservations in the beginning. I loved reading the altercations between Dix and his 2 friends as he slowly realised and acknowledged his feelings. And differentiated that to what he had previously. It's not like he liked Madison but screwed her over, no. He just genuinely didn't understand his feelings.

And I love that, despite the storyline, I never ever felt the author made another cliche NA asshole for the sake of creating an asshole. No, she went further and created a messed up man and his change. I loved how good Madison was able to help him become better. I loved how I never for one second thought that Maddison is getting the short end of the stick, where in the beginning I had reservations. In the end I basically loved how the author was able to blow me away despite the fact that many of things I don't usually read about are in this book.

But then, I think that it's this author's ability to go above and beyond the typical NA author that made me love it. I've come to realise that I have those triggers because many authors use them recklessly, and without a cause, and for the sake of adding a conflict point. They're fruitless and the women are also portrayed awfully for reasons I still don't comprehend.

Here, there isn't traditional cheating, but for my 100% safety gals, this isn't for you. Once he's with Maddison, he never strays.

For those of you who don't mind cheating or like me, like safety-with exception when it's used effectively and not carelessly, maybe give this one a shot.

I loved this book and the one after :) I'll read more from this author for sure.

And you know what?

By the end I freaking loved Dix and the FEELS. The freaking butterflies I felt reading Dix and Maddisons scenes!! So goooooooooiod

***ARC kindly provided for the exchange of an honest review from Netgalley***

This was a great story on so many different levels! First of all, the book is mainly written from Dixon's POV (there are few chapters that are written from Madison's POV but it's just to get a small glimpse of the reason for everything that was happening). It was fantastic to be in Dixon's head. Men can definitely think totally differently than women and Dixon proves it. Actually the congratulations should go to the author who pulled this out amazingly!

I have to say that the story is not predicable and not written in the classic romantic way. There is lots of honesty in this book. For example, how men are dealing with heartbreak, how relationships work or not and so much more.

Dixon and Madison are great heroes! Dixon is not the knight on the shinning armor and he knows it. I love this about him. He also has issues but he tries to face them in his way. Madison is a walking contradiction in my eyes. Although she appears self confident and well aware of what she wants, she has hard time to open up when it mattered most. Their chemistry is exploding!

The end of the book took my breath away. It was a real cliff hanger. I was screaming in my head NO NO NO NO NO! I couldn't believe what was written in the last chapter! I definitely recommend this book to everyone who loves erotica books without flowers and hearts!

You know the problem with these kinda books is, you create unnecessary conflict which is obviously forced and easily manageable which makes it not at all realistic enough to make the reader connect and feel what the characters are feeling.

A threat is booming on them? You know it's within their control, they're just choosing not to act like rational adults so that threat loses its shock value for us. A character is mourning the loss of someone? You know it's something they could get over by just talking to them since there's nothing stopping them from being together other than their own stupid excuses. That makes the "hurt" cheap and inane.

This book was a mess, a disgusting mess. I thought I'd be hating the manwhore but guess what? Madison (the second girl he talks about in the blurb - the real heroine) is the actual stupid one. She is the one who cheats on her boyfriend with our hero Dixon. And the whole Juliet plotline was so unnecessary (it's quite obvious why she was there based on the cheap "twist" of "blackmail" at the end - which is again something easily manageable but we want the story to drag) and ridiculous.

Think of this book as a coming of age story for our manwhore sex addict who is in his 30s, happens to be a psychiatrist with a history of fucking his patients and is on the journey to discover what happens when the casual fucking with random women gets old quick, as you get older.

Bro's biggest problem in life is his ex-situationship. Situationship!?? DUDE YOU'RE 32 FFS.

5 Sinfully delicious stars!
Oh boy, where to even begin. I LOVED this book. It was so different from Monica's usual stories, and she absolutely killed it!
The story itself is unlike anything I have read before, and the characters were amazing. Not to mention the insane sex scenes that will leave you panting, sweating, and out of breath.
For me, this book was a bit of a love/hate, and i'll tell you why. I already stated how much I loved the story, but nothing that happened was what I wanted to…now, this is not a bad thing at all, it just made me go nearly bald from pulling all my hair out of my head! There were some of the most frustrating moments in any book I have read, and it drove me up a wall. BUT, because of that I adored this story more than I could ever express. It's this exact reason that I was so completely and utterly drawn in. It's these types of stories and characters that hold a readers attention and make them ache inside their chests. So for me, the hate was more of the fact that I couldn't stand Juliet, and I had really hoped for something terrible to happen to her..like maybe her jumping off a big fat cliff!!! Not to mention the fact that she just would not bugger off!!!! And the damn ending…My jaw totally dropped to the floor and I was very close to hopping on a plane and flying from NY to AUS just to shake Monica and repeatedly yell WHYYYYYYYYYY like a mad woman. This could quite possibly be one of the meanest book endings by Miss James to date. Luckily for her, my wallet prevented me from hopping on that plane, and I am stuck here sulking in a corner until it's time to read book 2.

Now on to Dixon…let's face it. He's an asshole, but a lovable one at that. I didn't like him…then I did. He intrigued me…I loved him…then I hated him. I knew with all certainty that I had him all figured out, and then it was like he was a complete stranger. He is a jerk, but has a heart, and made me swoon quite a few times as the story progressed. In the end I loved how his character progressed, and the crazy emotions he evoked from me. Dr. Dixon Matthews…Psychiatrist, sex fiend, sweet and damn sexy. He can help treat anyones addictions, but he cannot help himself.

Maddison was this sweet innocent girl. Gosh I loved her. But behind all that sweetness is a dark secret that is eating away at her and destroying her future. She needs to move on from these demons in order to have a happy life, but she is unable to. She never told a soul about what happened to her, not even her best friend. Then comes Dixon. With their intense chemistry and electricity flying between the two. She knows he is the kind of guy that could break her, yet she also sees that there is something special to him. No matter what happens, these two become an unstoppable force once they are face to face. He's the first person she feels like she may want to open up to, and let into her heart. But with all the obstacles along the way you wonder if these two will ever get their happily ever after, or if their lives will be destroyed once and for all. They have the ability to heal one another, but they also have the ability to break the other.

If you have not yet read any of Monica James' books, this is THE one you want to start with. You will not be sorry!

I have a hate love relationship with this book. I have a degree in psychology so I couldn't pass up a read about a sexy alpha psychiatrist.

My over all thought of the book

 photo everyone is crazy_zpsuwuahubp.gif

Which wasn't all that surprising.

You know that Robert frost poem about the fork in the road? Well Dixon has to choose between two women, and needless to say he chooses wrong.

 photo Drama_zpsqhndycqa.jpg

At first the reader has no idea who the heroine is going to be, which makes sense because we don't know who he's going to choose. Madison is a sweet girl who the reader falls in love with. Juliet is sex addicted. I wasn't able to form an opinion on her until near the end, and it's not a good one.

Dr Dixon, is seriously fucked up in the best ways (well for a book, no so much for a boyfriend).

He truly is addicted to sin, I mean trouble finds him and he welcomes it.

Near the end had me like.

I hope there is another book.

I was provided with a complimentary ARC of this book by the publisher, through netgalley.com, in exchange for honest feedback. Thank you! :*

Wow, thank you for giving us heads up on how this book would mess up with our heads. It did nothing to stop me from reading, but man, next time I'll surely pay more attention to the disclaimers you put out there...

Dirty Dix is...well, dirty. I mean, you kind of expect that after you read that the man in a sex addict. But this book is just pure evil. And I'm not talking about a character being evil per se, I'm referring to the fact that the author used Dix's vulnerability to catch him in a net of broken feelings, sick personalities and wicked characters. She was mean to the poor man, making him a slave of his bad habits and us captivated by his raw sexiness and unlimited desire.

This novel is an insight into the weaknesses and helplessness of a man who knows his flaws but doesn't know how to fight them. Sometimes he doesn't even want to. So his choices keep leading him towards his downfall, and you know when it happens, it will shatter lives. Dix is an epitome of addiction, raw and merciless.
This book is a perfect example that negativity attracts negativity. If all you do is indulge into actions that are bad for you physically and emotionally, that's exactly what you'll get: surrounded by people who wish to harm and destroy you, just because they can. Just because you gave them the chance by being weak.

I loved it. It was real and it was an upsetting way to show us all that every little harmless but superficial decision could ruin us. The author succeeded to get into my head and by doing it, take the "erotic" novel into the next level. It sure made me learn an important lesson.

The characters are realistic and believable, but some of them leave a small impression of a black and white personalities (especially Julia). I hope to see a different side of them in the future.

Every other aspect of this novel I liked.

As it is, this is an interesting novel I would highly recommend to all of you who would like to enjoy some eroticism that would definately challenge your boundaries.

Congratulations to the author!

The only reason I finished this book is because it was a Netgalley ARC and I'm trying to be better at not DNFing ARCs. I was also really hoping that the storyline would open up into something I enjoyed a bit more. Unfortunately up to the final page I found the story implausible and the MC extremely unlikeable.

I knew going in that the MC (Dixon) was a shrink with a sex addiction. That part doesn't bother me. What bothered me was the people he chose to sleep with. He blindly stumbled from woman to woman (most of whom were disgustingly gross), took advantage of some women's weaknesses, whined about what a bad deal he had in life, and then concurrently had this belief that he was an aboveboard doctor who deserved accolades and recognition for this work. None of this worked for me. The MC was too b**chy. I didn't believe he had a sex addiction- what I do believe is he's a narcissist who lacks the ability to connect his actions and their consequences. I think he's one of the first male Mary Sue's I've ever come across.

I also found it extremely implausible that nearly EVERY woman he met from page one wanted him. Really?!? Everyone? I think there was maybe one 80 year old lady who didn't hit on him. I get that he's really, really, ridiculously good looking (said in Zoolander voice) but in real life most women aren't willing to drop their pants and get boned just by staring at a guy.

As far as I can tell no actual shrinking occurred throughout this entire book. Dixon merely used his appointments to either take advantage of women or ignore them. To have him then proclaim himself this pillar of the scientific community is ludicrous. And you really want me to believe that a shrink who's so highly acclaimed in his field would do what he did to his own father? Seriously?

For me- this book was one nails on a chalkboard moment after another. I had high hopes for it but was really disappointed.

OMG-what the hell did I just read?? I can't believe that I have just read the most amazing book by Monica James and she has ended it like that! I want to read the next book in this series NOW!! This is the book that FSOG should have been! It was edgy and engaging, written with humour and a real human interest where you actually care about the characters-all of them-good or bad!
Dr Dixon Matthews is a bad boy and we all love a bad boy. As he says himself "who wants to be good when it feels so good being bad". He is about to unravel though when not one but two women enter his life and they are about to change it big time.
I don't usually read erotic romance but the publisher Bookouture is having an amazing year with its books and authors so I decided to give this a go due to my trust in them. And boy, am I glad I did! I picked this up to read a few pages....and didn't put it down till I finished it! Monica James brings something new and refreshing to the table, a bad boy hero who is human and personable. I absolutely loved the scenes with Dix and his friends Hunter and Finch. So refreshing to see that female dominated "gossip and get together" done with men-a brilliant idea.
Love, love, loved this book and am now desperate to get my hands on Book 2 in the series.
I received a copy of this book via netgalley so many thanks to them and Bookouture for the advanced copy in return for my unbiased review.

Monica James has created another character that I couldn’t get enough of.

Dr. Dixon Mathews is a character you can’t help loving, even though you know you shouldn’t. He’s brass and can be crude at times, and makes no apologies for it. But I couldn’t help feeling there was an underlying vulnerability that he was trying to hide, even from himself. I loved Dixon, flaws and all. His relationships with the two women are vastly different and although he thinks he is only worthy of one of them, he still dares to pursue the other.

Dr. Dixon Mathews’ kept me addicted until the very last page - 5 sexy stars.

WTF).
