Decades ago, Greysuit technology was banned across the Hundred Worlds. Now, as a dangerous terrorist organization attempts to develop its own army of Greysuit super soldiers, the fragile peace of those same worlds hangs in the balance.Singled out because of her genetic heritage, Aera joins a handful of other misfits on a dead end world under the supervision of a crusty veteran and his odd colleagues. Together they'll have to survive training and Greysuit fusion, become outlaws, and risk everything they love for one chance to fight back before it’s too late.
Other than taking care of my family and writing speculative fiction, I am into black tea (cream and sugar, please), semi-extreme sports, tropical plants, the ocean, graphic design, travel, books about travel, marketing (not great, but getting better), playing Minecraft and Mario Kart with my kids, watching Minecraft Youtubers with my kids, old houses, religion, podcasts, history, learning how people are making the world better, formula one racing (as of 2021), epic adventure movies and tv shows, and long and wide-ranging late night conversations with friends.
I live on the outskirts of Baltimore, Maryland, with my beautiful-entertaining-slightly-crazy-hardworking-very-smart wife, Wendy, and our three fantastic and very interesting kids. Also, two cats and a Beta fish.

One of the best written and most enjoyable pieces of speculative, science-fiction I have read in a long, long time! (and the cherry on top is that I came across it for $0.00 on Amazon )
Unlike many of the other "Free e-books" I have come across on Amazon, where you can feel the heart and passion of the writer but there are things that just keep niggling - this one had the characters, editing, style and pace to carry through a great story to a very satisfactory ending. There are some slips toward the end but nothing that managed to overshadow the utter enjoyment of the book.
Whether you are hardcore sci-fi junkie or new to the genre; whether you prefer stories that never leave Earth or never even touch the Blue Planet, give this book a shot: it is written in such a way that it does introduce a whole new universe but nothing too other worldly or incomprehensible. Characters are made up of technologically advanced, space-travelling humans.
The technology is very inventive. Story line is pretty straight forward but kept me interested. Am looking forward to seeing where the greysuits end up in the next book.
I can see this in 50 years or so. Nanotechnology is the future and this story demonstrates the versatility. The story has an Asian flair, and makes me think about how similar and how different our cultures are.
This was a good read. Once the story was established and I figured out the gist of the story arc, I appreciated the author’s writing style and how he didn’t go heavy on continuing to establish world-building and lore - he jumped right into the action and kept you pinned to the seat. I think the pacing was good and the characters were enjoyable. Well done!
Interesting plot involving future earth colonies. Slow start as the heroine is role is developed but it picks up as story develops. The character development of the greysuit team is starting and leadership is being defined. There is a lot of super hero action in the last part of the book. The usual link to the next book is present. I will read it.
I almost out this down 1/2 a dozen times but I am so glad I didn't, this opens up and puts you where all great scy-fy should and makes us believe it could still happen, I am so looking forward to the next book.
Outstanding! Quality of characterization, evolving in their nature which was consistent with their character. I have to admit I liked Nathan’s admission of God’s existence, which is so important for our military folks (my nephew included) with their lives being poured out for ours. Let’s admit it folks, God is important, no denying that! Thank you Nathan for a very good read!
Hmm I’m trying to give this review the appropriate stars it deserves. It’s really difficult when it’s a really good premise (greysuits infused with nano technology giving the wearer super-ish powers) but it just seems like a never ending adventure (the doing) yet lacking the character development/relationships/emotions (the feeling). Had to stop reading halfway (to read something else) as the story failed to gauge my interest.
With references to current century we are in, it was like as though the future’s idealogy wasn’t exciting enough? The oriental influences, such as city names and trading at yen currency was interesting.
Author has great potential, just write more stories!
Highly enjoyable easy read. Didn’t go too deep into the tech, yet used it believably. I was a little surprised at the level of super provided by the suits but that did not detract from the story. Wished I had more info on the past but again that lack did not detract from the story. Characters were diverse yet realistic. Kept looking for extraterrestrial aliens but it being so far in the future I can see how all would be citizens rather than of a race or species. The premise and setting works. I especially enjoyed how personable the character interactions came through. Fun read.
What happens if terrorists get super soldier tech after the rest of humanity has banned it? Well, you get this book. A well thought out plot, interesting characters, good people and bad, and a decent book. Sometimes there are issues, but overall, it’s good. The biggest thing missing is well described battle scenes. The action is quick, nonleathal, and slightly boring. Super soldier combat needs a bit better than what is here imo. Still, decent book.
This is absolutely a book well worth reading! An amazing story of Life a after Earth. Great plot with young characters who are brave bound belief.Great JOB!!
A real sci-fi novel which would have totally fitted in during the age of Heinlein, Arthur Clarke ,Stanley Weinbaum and the great Isaac Asimov. A great read and hopefully the rest of the series will be just as good if not better
Interesting premise, the story rolls well, but the characters need more fleshing out. (Maybe that is what the sequels are for...) Enjoyable read and concept.
I really enjoyed this book. I actually went searching hoping to find that it was a series (it's not, yet, but the author is working on a book 2).
I was between other major reads and randomly picked this one out of my to read list. The characters were well-written with a mystery behind the main story of a young woman, trained as a healer, who accepts an invitation to join a group in training. She discovers her genes allow her, along with a few others, to wear a grey suit. In doing so, she is making a unchangeable commitment to defend the universe. A very unique "clothes make the man" situation.
