Two shop workers leading very commonplace lives find themselves taking an extraordinary magical adventure when they discover a mysterious house in the woods.

This debut novel is an imaginative tale, featuring two characters who start out being rather unsympathetic, but as I followed their story and learned more about who they were and what their motivations were, they did rather grow on me.

A promising first novel from a young writer who is undoubtedly still learning his craft, but is definitely one to watch.

Well plotted fantasy

When fantasy is well written, it's very good. And this book is a very good romp, with some beautifully crafted exchanges and situations I love the fact that the central protagonists : Felicity and Tremayne are so normal and hold down such prosaic jobs, as it makes what happens just that bit more believable. I also love the fact there are golems. Looking forward to more from this author
