Fifteen years ago, I left my life in Blue River and never looked back.
I drove south to raise the child I didn’t ask for, but that I’d do absolutely anything for. She needed me, so I went.
I left everything -–my apartment, my job, my friends. Oh, and the love of my life.
Barrett Wellsworth was everything I never knew I needed. And then I left him without so much as an explanation.
How do you tell someone who is waiting to change his world for you, that he can no longer be a part of yours?
You don’t.
Now, I’m on my way back to Blue River to say goodbye to an old friend. Back to the remnants of the life I abandoned. Back to the huge piece of my heart that’s been sitting up North all this time.
The second I see him, my world flips on its axis.
For so many years, the answer was I was where I needed to be.
But now, things are different. My life is mine again.
And suddenly, my internal compass is all out of whack.
My heart is pulling me due north. Back to Blue River.

This was another heartfelt Christmas Novella but this follows Barrett, Fiona’s older brother from the first book. Barrett is in his 40’s is single, works at the family owned store where his father has just passed him the position of owning the business. The sudden death of a family friend see’s them going to the funeral where he sees the love of his life who left him 15 years ago…
I really love T.D. Colbert’s writing in this even though it’s short. The characters are fantastic and it just felt so heartfelt. I can’t wait to pick up Marks On The Moon.

*4.5⭐️ Christmas Eve at the Wellsworths is magical! Rie left Blue River 15 years ago and one call could change so much. After her brother died she stepped up and started taking care of her niece Tess. But that meant leaving the Wellsworth company and him. Barett is finally going to take over the family business but his life does not feel complete without her. He wants answers and he might get them. Rie and Barett have a lot to talk about this Christmas! This was another great Christmas Novella. I think I even like this Novella more than the first one. The two make this Christmas extra special. And for some reason, I think Christmas Eve has an extremely special meaning for the Wellsworth. Something always seems to be in the air and pushes two together. Maybe I need to spend one Christmas Eve with them ;)
My only complaint is that novellas just aren’t long enough to satisfy me, lol. In all seriousness, I loved it & I loved that Taylor brought Rie from Marks on the Moon into this one & told us her love story. Just wonderful!
