My fave 18th Century painter. Solid collection.

Keeping in mind this is a translation from french, by a frenchman, about a french painter, know that the text is chatty and wanders like a conversation after dinner. Entertaining but perhaps not the best choice for research writing. Still, what a kick! I'd like to hear it in french too, there should be a documentary using liberal parts of this text. The illustrations are excellent also, but Thuillier keeps mentioning other painters and works that are not shown, and that's just not fair. Perhaps there should be a reissue with more images?
