Twenty-six year old Serenity Walker is the beautiful single mom to a precocious five-year old son. Forced to deal with a deceitful boyfriend who wants nothing to do with the child they created together, she decides to raise her son alone...it's just her and God. In her attempts to carve a life for herself as a professional chef, she has no real desire for a man in her world. That all changes when she meets ex-football player Jason Bullock. Burned by a past relationship, Jason is not really looking to give his heart away again. As God would have it, that all changes when he meets Serenity. It's practically love at first sight for Jason and all out resistance for her. Jason knows their love is special. So he's willing to fight for Serenity. Even if it means putting up a chase.

This is the 1st book I read by Taretha Jones. I liked this book's story line. I liked all the characters in this story. I liked the ending.

Serenity is a single mom of a five-year old son. Serenity found out that her boyfriend was married, after learning that Serenity was pregnant he wanted nothing to do with her or the child. Serenity vowed to raise her son and focus on God. Jason is an ex-football player and a single dad of a son, whose wife left him and their son for another man. Jason made a vow to focus on his son and commit his life to God. Serenity and Jason meet and it was love at first sight. Beautiful story.

Jason Bullock is chasing Serenity. Serenity a single mom and chef accepts employment at Bullock’s new restaurant, after being fired as chef at the other eatery for feeding the homeless. Bullock was taken in by her almost instantly. Upon finding out that she had a child that likes trucks, Bullock had the potential angle to pursue a friendship with his new chef. Serenity didn’t want to date due to past heartbreak and certainly didn’t want to get involved with her boss. But their children liked each other so that took the kids on play dates and outings. Bullock doesn’t know Serenity full background and he makes an extremely judgemental comment that removes Serenity’s interest in him. They were both unyielding and Bullock has to be shown the error of his judgemental stance. If these two came overcome that hurdle, then another Bullock brother is going down to the altar.

On Second Thought

The story of Serenity and Jason gave credence to being more flexible in your belief about others. They had both experienced hurt regarding extramarital but on different ends of the spectrum. Dishonestly on both their partners part had them fearing finding love after the fact. Fortunately, family and friends were willing to step to get them to realize they needed new perspectives.

After vowing to it just being them as a single parent, Serenity and Jason met. The sparks fly but....
This was a very good read of new beginnings when God is in the plans. For a minute, I thought their love was doomed. But as fate and God ordained, what will happen will be.
