Charlie's Checklist is about a little dog who urns to find a owner that will properly love him. Charlie puts an ad in the newspaper in hopes of finding the perfect owner. Charlie has an extensive checklist people must meet in order for them to be just right. Several people respond to Charlie's ad by sending him letters. The story is based off the letters Charlie receives. I would use the book to help students with writing informal letters.

Charlie is looking for a new home. He and Chester make a list of what would be the perfect home. Charlie finds out that he has the perfect home with Chester. What a sweet book, easy to read, great for making predictions, wonderful for learning about making lists. This book is filled with pronouns, possessive nouns and contractions.

Some strangeness in the narrative style made this less than it could have been. And the very first spread gave the misleading impression that Charlie was the child due to the position of the text. Confusing and off-putting.
