A shocking and intriguing story of lovers destined to be together as he climbs his way to the top of the Rock and Roll Industry, they struggle to stay together and stay away from each other.
Alright, so, I won this book from GoodReads, and I was told that it would be nice if I wrote a review, so here we go...
When I submitted my name to win this book, the description of what the book was about really got my attention: lovers destined to be together as the rock star climbs his way to the top of the industry, struggled to stay together and stay away from each other. It sounded interesting: a rock and roll love story. Well, I'll admit, it was for sure a rock and roll love story, just not the type of love story I was expecting.
You know that saying "Sex, Drugs and Rock & Roll", well that's exactly what this book was. Within the first 14 pages, I came across 3 to 4 sex scenes. It wasn't the typical sex scenes found in other romance novels, the language was dirty and made me uncomfortable. If someone were to submit the sex scene to PlayBoy or Hustler, I'm sure it would be chosen to be published in their magazine.
Sex scenes aside... the story was pretty good and interesting. I didn't really want to put the book down because I wanted to know what was going to happen to the Rock Star. I loved the Rock Star's character; In my opinion, I think it was an accurate portrayal of what a rock star's life would be.
As for the girl in the story, she kind of annoyed me. When it came to men, she drove me insane, playing games just to get what she wants. But when it came to her and the rock star, I can't really blame her for what she did.
Overall, I give the book 4 stars. It was interesting, kept you wanting more of the story to see what would happen to the characters that you fell in love with. The sex scenes could have been a bit more tame, but hey, it's all part of rock and roll right!?
First of all, I'd like to say thank you to Helena Danyluk for sending me a copy of this book to read through the Good Reads Giveaway. It was an easy, quick read, only took me a day and enjoyable if you're in the right kind of mood. The storyline was really good and I would have liked to have had more written about the two character's relationship. It would have been a longer book but the concept of dealing with the rise to stardom and the kind of world he lived in and she didn't want and the love the two had for each other would have, on it's own, made a wonderful read. However it is written as "erotica" so be prepared for that if you read it. It's not for people who don't like sex, graphic sex at that, in their novels. It's what I would call a "top-shelf" novel as where I live these kind of books are put on the top shelf, away from young eyes. I'd like to see Ms. Danyluk try her hand at a love story without quite so much sex and see how that turns out. But if you want a quick, easy read to put you into the mood, I'm sure this will do it.
Lets just say I can tell why this book was printed by Authorhouse instead of being picked up by a publisher. Shallow, amateur erotica that is better suited to being posted on literotica than printed on paper. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for a sexy read, but these characters were cliched and generally unlikeable, and I wanted to smack them more than anything.
From the look over the cover and the title, I expected something different. I am happy to say that I'm impressed with what I got though. A intensely hot and erotic glimpse into a rockstar's life, but more than that, the women who love them. I really think all romance junkies out there need to check this book out!
