Rate this book
The continent of Africa is full of uniquely diverse people, with a long and complex history. When the so-called “Age of Exploration” began Europeans decided to take an in depth look into the rest of the world, and the studies of ethnology, philology and anthropology in general, became of great importance to them. They began to take a great interest in studying and documenting the history of people, the relation between them, who they are and what they do. Many of these individuals, of course, had sinister intentions, ulterior motives, but they did manage to preserve some of that which would have otherwise been lost to time.

Here, has been compiled, a comprehensive historical account of numerous observations made by various Europeans of various backgrounds, explorers, colonizers, missionaries, slavers, in regard to the Fulbe. The information compiled here gives a historic insight to how Europe and Europeans viewed these African people and Africa, what they thought about them, how they interacted with them.

The Fulbe are a glorious ethnic group located from Senegal in West Africa to Sudan in the East. They are a proud tribe who were once all nothing but humble cattle-herders, due to the pastoral habits of this tribe and the fact that they are incredibly widespread in regard to the places that they inhabit, and due to this the Fulbe go by many names, of them are the Fulɓe, Fūlānī, Fula, Pulo, Fellātah.

'Africa through the Eyes of the Other' is a must-read for anyone interested in the history and culture of Africa and its people. With its wealth of information and unique perspective, this book offers a rare glimpse into the Fulbe and their place in the world.
