The Queen and her Maids of Honour are spending the summer at a nobleman's estate, where a new manor house is being built. But the work has to stop when a mysterious spook appears. Could the ghost of a murdered Earl be haunting the site of his death? Grace begins to investigate and finds that there are many rumours about the ghost - and uncovering the truth could be dangerous...
Lady Grace becomes a kind-of Elizabethan Ghostbuster--and Masou & Ellie *finally* move up in the world. ... As usual, a great story with good intrigue, characters, and facts sprinkled throughout. A well-crafted tale for anyone 10 and up!
I am not that far in the book yet but so much has happened...
So this story well diary is about a young lady called Grace who goes to stay in the queens castle, although she isn't a great fan about going but when she finds out the castle is haunted shes way more intrigued to find out more.
As soon as she gets there she is super excited to go on a tour around the castle so she can see anything peculiar or mysterious. On her tour she goes to a graveyard and starts talking to a very friendly grave digger perhaps a little too friendly,he starts telling her all the stories about the ghost and tales that might be true, she is interrupted and has to go but the last thing the man tells her is that the ghost room is in the castle somewhere and he doesn't just says where the room is he tells her a riddle.
Later that night she told everyone at the dinner table about the stories but midway got interrupted my someone saying that she had seen the ghost.
How many of her books did she do and I would like it if she did more cuz I really like these books actually I really really love these books they're really good to read I like reading them a lot my library won't get them in because they're way too old they don't like getting an old stuff cuz then they have to get rid of it cuz nobody will check it out kind of sad huh or on the only person that checks it out and that doesn't count I don't wish they could change their minds
I thought the series faltered a bit in the first half of the previous book--though it did get better later--and I feared the series had run its course; I thought it would only disappoint from here on, and I half expected this to be a mess. Nope. Great fun. Solid. Good mystery, good use of our favorite characters, good action. The series seems to be going strong at this point.
"Haunted" is a bit like an episode of Scooby Doo, but in a good way. A ghost in the castle? Nice. A generations-old mystery? Perfect. It works. Plus, [spoiler] there's a happy surprise for one of Grace's friends, which I was glad to see.
Recommended. Obviously, if you've read the first seven books in the series, you should read this one too. Very entertaining.
This is the eighth book in the Lady Grace Mysteries series, about Lady Grace Cavendish, a thirteen-year-old Maid of Honor at the court of Queen Elizabeth I.
It is July of 1570, and Queen Elizabeth I and her court are on summer progress. Currently, they are staying at Medenham Manor, where the Earl, Lord Reynold, is rebuilding the manor house in the latest style. However, soon after the court arrives, rumors begin to circulate that the manor is being haunted by the ghost of the first Earl, who disappeared under mysterious circumstances more than a hundred years ago. Is there really a ghost at Medenham Manor, or are the spooky happenings the work of someone who has a grudge against Lord Reynold? Unable to resist a mystery, Grace is determined to discover the truth.
This is another good book from the Lady Grace Mysteries series. Through Grace's diary we learn many details about life in Elizabethan times while reading an enjoyable story. I would recommend this book to readers who enjoyed other books in the series, as well as to new readers who enjoy reading about this time period.

In past installments of this series, I have been impressed by the level of history the author brings to the series with out seeming to do so. I was disappointed in this book, as there wasn't as much history. It's still an OK read, but if you're looking for more history, don't count on this book to provide it.
The series hit a dull point over the last few books, and this one wasn't much of an improvement either.
The story was more exciting in this than the previous few, and Grace's curiousness never fails in this. Her keen eye helps her realise the ghost is not real, but she has a hard time persauding anyone else of that!
I was annoyed that we didn't revisit the love interest, and frustrated that there was not as much historical knowledge in this one. I also found the book to be a bit slow-paced and dragged out in sections, making me unsure on the book itself.
I gave up at this point and could not wait for the next book if it was going to be the same standard.
Well, still having lots of fun devouring this series. By now, you know my opinion: love the characters, would have loved this as a little girl, love the setting, love learning new things.
Unfortunately, I ran out of them, and I'll have to get the next few books in the series (it runs up to L).
I do worry since it's been several years before any new book came out.
Lurking in the ruined east wing of Medenham Manor, of Wiltshire England lurks a ghost, come back to haunt the Royal Visit. But there is a problem with this specter; he is wearing the latest fashion. Lady grace is on the case to sus out the culprit who haunts the court.
