DK First Dinosaur Encyclopedia
Bingham, Caroline. DK First Dinosaur Encyclopedia (2007). MS Science Series. I chose this specific science series because I remember being interested in dinosaurs when I was younger, and wanted to put myself in a retrospective mindset. I also wanted to evaluate the way in which the book was framed, and whether or not it presented the material in a way that would keep young readers interested. The book not only met my expectations in the way of visual material, but also exceeded them in the way in which the writing is catered to a younger audience. If the reader is unable to comprehend any jargon in the text, there is a glossary given in the back, followed by an index. The book is very neat and separated in a way that makes organizational sense. There is an average of one image per sentence of information, which is more than enough for a student to be able to learn about dinosaurs without the information going over their heads. As an adult, the information that was interesting to me wasn’t necessarily the naming or the classification of the dinosaurs, but instead the way in which their bones were excavated and from what parts of the world. However, if you are a young reader who is interested in these prehistoric marvels, this book will awe and inspire. Target audience: ages 9-13

Brilliant, the eldest loved to read this one, though it was mostly me who read it, there was so much I didnt know about dinosaurs either. Such an education and some fab pictures and illustrations.

This book is like the Ancient Rome book. This book is great because it shows us the different stages of dinosaurs development and the different king of environment's that they live in. I had no idea that there was different kind of environment's that they lived in. This book explained the different diets of them as well and it explains the process of a dino becoming a fossil. It a good book for book reports or presentation's.

There's a ton of information packed in this book. All of the pictures are really cool and interesting. I think a lot of kids would enjoy this book.
