I was really excited about this book - hoping for some new ideas of how to incorporate technology into my classroom. It did deliver a few ideas. There is a chapter that is a list of resources with brief descriptions of each. That chapter was helpful, but I could've gone without the rest of it. Wojcicki, while probably well-intentioned, is pretty out of touch with the ACTUAL classroom in my opinion. She talks a lot about how education needs to change and use blended learning more - that because it was successful in her classroom it will be successful everywhere. I agree that the world is changing and education should adapt with it, but in her million dollar journalism specific lab in extremely affluent Palo Alto, California (the epicenter of the tech world) where she has students apply for her program and then kicks them out if they don't meet her standards I bet blended learning sure is successful! But that's not my classroom. I HAVE to teach every kid that walks through my door. They don't apply and I can't kick them out (nor would I want to). She says that technology motivates kids to do more on their own and with her students I'm sure it does. But I did not like that she assumes that this is the case for all students and teachers. There was almost a tone of "if you're not using technology and giving the kids freedom and choice and individualizing every lesson for every kid YOU SUCK!" I will use some of the tools discussed in this book and I work on adapting my teaching every, single, day, but I will never be what this book says teachers need to be in order to be successful and I think it's okay! My students will still learn from me.

2.5 stars. Promising premise and love the metaphor, but not sure if what worked could be transferred everywhere.

Best for educators and educational administrations wanting to implement more blended learning into their curriculum.
