Dr. Erika Johnson's life couldn't get any better. Her practice is flourishing and her hunk of a husband Brock can't keep his hands off her--until the day he suddenly leaves her without a word of explanation. Stunned, Erika has no choice but to cobble together a new life on her own. When she serves Brock with divorce papers, Erika is certain he'll sign them so they can both move on. But that's when the surprises really begin. . .
Except The Man She Loves. . .
Brock is sure he did the right thing. All he ever wanted was to bring joy into Erika's life, not pain and sorrow. But when rumors reach him that Erika is seeing another man, he's torn between what he thinks is right and what he feels is right. Despite everything, there's no denying the fierce attraction she and Brock have always shared is burning hotter than ever. And when Erika finally learns Brock's secret, they must decide if they will face the uncertain future together--or apart. . .
I, too am a fan of Kimberly White's work normally, but agree this book was not that good and I couldn't wait to finish it. Erica was Psychologist, which was shocking because she was incredibly naive. Brock, Erica's husband is also a doctor too, who leaves her without an explanation. After seven months of separation, Erica decides to serve Brock with divorce papers. He refuses to give her a divorce, but refuses to explain why he left. Brock gets a wake up call, when he realizes another man is interested in replacing him for his wife's affection. Mark befriended Erica and became a shoulder for her to lean on. He has fallen in love with Erica and is determined not to give her up without a fight. He seems to be a kind and caring man, but we soon discover he has his own issues. The truth of what caused Brock to leave Erica eventually comes to the light, but I agree it took to long to get there. Mark's role in the story made it bearable, however a third of the way through the book, I was like alright already can we wrap this story up, dang! When I finally got to the end, I was like....is there a chapter missing? In my opinion the build up was pretty good, but the ending was anti-climatic at best. This story left me needing more and less, which is why it was not very good. I for one was sorely disappointed. I gave it 3 stars, because wasn't horrible, but it definitely could have been rented from the library, because it just wasn't worth my money.
I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would. When it first started I didn't know where she was going with the story, but as it went along I really got into it. It took a few chapters for me to really like the husband. He first came across as arrogant and obsessive, but I got over that the more that I read. At the end, it switched point a view a bit too much for me, and I would have liked to know what happened with her friend Ginnifer (maybe that's a sequel I haven't found). All in all it was a good read.
WOW!!!!!! I was in awe of the dealing of testicular cancer. The up and down of Brocks ad Erika relationship. Not to mention the mystery entwined into the story. A great read Will Ginnifer have her own story?
