Justin falls for Kevin the instant they pass each other on a sidewalk. Only, Kevin’s not gay. The higher ups at Kevin’s company are gay, however, and Kevin’s accidental meeting with Justin gives him an idea how to get around his controlling female supervisor. If he can gain access to the top men at an exclusive gay club, he might be able to finally share his ideas.

Justin instantly agrees to be his date, despite the obvious heartbreak that’s headed his way for going out with a straight man. At the club, Kevin gets a chance to meet the company owner, Victor Chen, and the man seems interested… both in his ideas and his date.

Kevin can’t deny his attraction to Justin, but he’s not gay. Right? He should step aside and let Justin have a chance to date Victor, who’s gorgeous, rich, and shares Justin’s interest in fashion. Despite his internal struggles, he really wants to explore their growing bond. Justin is certainly game, but a part of him knows they can’t have a future together. Is there more to their instant attraction than either suspect?

Jet Mykles is the queen of the “gay for you” storyline. Jet seems to be able to break all boundaries when it comes to love and sexual orientation. I was excited when I got to read and review the book, Just for you. Jet once again proves that she is definitely at the top of her game by convincing me as a reader, that one of the main characters who has been heterosexual all of his life, suddenly become attracted to and fall in love with another man.

When Justin Tolliver spotted the most beautiful man he’d ever seen on the sidewalk, he knew it was love at first sight. He immediately runs over to the man and introduces himself to this ‘Prince Charming’ with the hope that his gorgeous prince will be gay and attracted to him, too. When his ‘Prince’ just gapes in shock at him, Justin knows his overstepped himself, and tells the gorgeous man to look him up at his clothing store. He reluctantly leaves the stunned man behind, with the feeling that he just walked away from something special.

Kevin Fuller thought it was going to be just another day when this tall, pretty man suddenly walks up to him and tells Kevin that he’s the man of his dreams. Kevin had been so shocked he didn’t have time to respond to the bold man; before he was whisked away leaving Kevin standing on the sidewalk wondering if it was all a dream. Besides who immediately falls in lust/love over boring a computer geek?

When Kevin’s supervisor has no intention of proposing Kevin’s newest program, he decides to take matters into his own hands. He knows that both of the companies big wigs, Greg and Victor, are gay and hang out at an exclusive gay nightclub. Suddenly Kevin remembers the stunning man that had approached him on the sidewalk earlier, and he devises a plan to bring his own date to the club and single the two men out.

Justin couldn’t be happier when Kevin appears unexpectedly at his shop. When Kevin takes him to lunch and tells Justin his scheme to pretend that they are dating so this will make it easier to approach his bosses, Justin easily decides to go along with the plan. To Justin, it’s a win-win situation. Not only does he get to go to an exclusive nightclub, but he gets to hang out with his dream man as well.

As the men embark on getting Kevin noticed by the big wigs, both Justin and Kevin start feeling more than admiration and attraction to each other. Kevin is confused by his feelings for Justin, but the more he’s around him, the more he starts falling for him. Just as Kevin and Justin start giving into the intensity of their feelings for one another, one of Kevin’s bosses decides he wants Justin for himself. Will Kevin fight for the love of his life and possibly lose his job in the process, or will he walk away from the greatest love he’s ever known?

I read this book in one setting. I loved all of the characters, even Victor Chen who is determined to wedge himself in Justin’s life. It was easy to understand why Kevin could fall so easily for Justin. Not only is Justin stunningly gorgeous, but he’s smart, funny, kind and has a zest for life that most of us would give our right arm for. Even Kevin is attractive and very well matched for the fun loving Justin. I liked that there was more to meet the eye with both characters, and even though each hero was able to see each other, flaws and all, they still were able to recognize the very special, true love that they had together.

Lets not forget about the hot sex between Kevin and Justin. Whew! At one point I had to get up and turn on my ceiling fan. The sexual chemistry between Kevin and Justin was through the roof!

I have to say that I'm completely smitten and lusting for Justin right now! LOL This story is a must read and one I'll most likely set aside to read over again. The drama, comedy and the bluntness portrayed by the characters enhanced this story to the max. I was captivated and unable to set the book aside for one second.

I would like to make a suggestion: If there's a sequel I'd like it to be about Victor. Now most might not agree, by I felt sorry for the dude. Not saying why. You'll just have to read the book and draw your own conclusion.

Overall it's a fantastic story and I highly recommend to those who haven't read it yet to get off their keester and read it!

Bottom line up front:
This incredibly charming and tongue-in-cheek story with the usually dreaded Gay For You plot has gone a long way in restoring my faith in Jet Mykles after the last few bombs she released.

The rest:
Kevin is a super sexy computer geek with some really great product ideas for things he wants to implement at the company he works for. Problem is, his boss scuttles everything the team comes up with and blocks access to the higher ups so nobody can go over her head. Desperate to be heard, Kevin comes up with a crazy idea: go to a gay club his bosses frequent and pitch his ideas to them in person.

Kevin isn't gay, but it just so happens that some cute nut job stopped him on the street earlier and declared undying love for him. Coincidentally, the cute nut job works at a men's clothing store near his own job. And even more coincidentally (there's alot of convenient shiyt happening in this book), Kevin has an invite to go to this very exclusive gay club the big bosses like to party at. He begs Justin to pretend to be his boyfriend so he can get his break with the company. Justin agrees, and the two go out.

Somewhere in the middle of all this, Kevin really gets to liking Justin, and starts having X-rated fantasies about the guy. There's lots of internal angsting happening, because Kevin isn't gay, and has never even been attracted to another guy. In fact, he's still attracted to women. So why is he getting jealous when his boss, Victor, starts flirting with Justin, and then goes all out to try to poach what he thinks is his employee's boyfriend?

Justin had me rolling my eyes and giggling from first meeting until the end of the book. Starting out incredibly flamboyant, he did thankfully get toned down slightly as the story progressed. Still, his initial approach to Kevin was just hilarious:

Justin raced back down the sidewalk, nearly spilling his coffee in his rush to catch up to a wet dream come to life. He almost ran over a guy on Rollerblades and just avoided getting wrapped up in a microdog's leash, but he finally made it to the vision's side. He reached out to wrap a hand around an arm.

“I've just fallen in love with you,” Justin declared, cradling his coffee cup to his chest as he kept hold on the vision's arm. “What is your name, and please tell me you're gay?”

“Justin!” Frank caught up with him, grabbing the wrist of the hand that had a grip on the vision's arm. Frank tugged, but Justin wouldn't let go. “Justin, please, you're annoying the nice man.”

Justin blinked at the dumbstruck object of his attention as the breeze puffed a lock of shiny dark hair across the man's brow. “Nice man, please tell me your name so I know who to dream about tonight.”

It is Justin who carried the story and kept me from wanting to knock Kevin's head against a stone wall with a clue by four. Repeatedly.

There were some very contrived plot points that strained credulity and stopped just short of being completely ridiculous. Several events were rather neatly laid out in a way that allowed the characters to be in certain places at specific times in a way that was amazingly convenient to the story arc, but not terribly plausible.

However, as a whole, Just for You was an irreverent, cheeky story that was extremely fun to read. A delightful surprise from an author who used to be an autobuy, but hit a rough patch with a few stories that sucked fuzzy rocks. I'm pleased that Jet has written a story that reminded me why I've enjoyed her writing so throughout many years and books. I'd highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a well-written and -paced, entertaining read.

I think by now I know what I am going to get with a Jet Mykles story: It will be sweet, light, fluffy, and hot with very little angst. I'm okay with that, but I don't know if it is exactly my taste. Still, I enjoyed this book for what it was: A cute little story without much substance. I thought that having the more effeminate guy (Justin) be the top was a nice change. I could have used more plot and more... something... but I had fun reading this one.

"I've just fallen in love with you," Justin declared, cradling his coffee cup to his chest as he kept hold on the vision's arm. "What is your name, and please tell me you are gay?"

I was hooked from this point forward. Justin was fantastic...unabashed flirtation, forward, funny, queeny, coy...knowing that Kevin was straight but still willing to go out on a limb...often. Kevin "the vision" was adorable and sweet. Not adverse to "dating" Justin to make connections especially since they come with the bonus of kissing Justin, who steels them every chance he gets.

Not a fan of Victor, Kevin's boss. Oily and sly and manipulative. He thinks that he's being fair and I would have thrown popcorn if this was on a movie screen.

I loved this all because of Justin. He made me want to root for Kevin just so that I could see Justin happy.

This was a very cute story. I liked Justin and Kevin very much. I just thought the ending was a bit rushed. I would have liked an epilogue to see how things went a little farther down the line.

I think part of the allure of a GFY story is the recognition of the relationship not only from the two heroes but how they react and stand together as a couple to the outside world. I feel a little cheated when we don't really get that full perspective in our story.

I was all for expecting to like this story, I'm not new to Jet Mykles' pretty boys and her work, where western romance blends with yaoi without being overtly influenced. And I was expecting for it to be fun and light. But I wasn't expecting to be surprise to the turn of event and for the reversed role of the main characters. Yes, I'm true, I was expecting the usual "gay for you" book where a strong alpha male, and supposedly straight, falls in love, after having fallen in lust, for a pretty young gay boy, and then happily ever after. So see, nothing complicated and everything good.

But no, the story is not so "straight" (pun intended) as I was expecting. First of all Kevin, the "straight" man, is not an alpha male, far from it. He is more like a lost puppy with melting "puppy" eyes and all. And no, he will not play the role of the sheep fallen in the clutches of the Big Bad Wolf, or of the closeted shy gay boy who was only expecting to be freed by gay superhero. Kevin has all a role, and philosophy of his own. I think Kevin is super-gender, meaning that he likes girls, but has not issue to admit that he can like also boys. Basically Kevin is a man (boy) who doesn't like to take the lead in life, in relationship and in bed. He prefers to be the leaded. So yes, it's entirely possible that Kevin could find a strong girl who will command him in bed, and life, but it's more probable that the role is taken by a man.

And here the second surprise, the above said lead man, Justin. In the conventional scheme of straight Alpha Male meets gay omega boy, Justin has to be your typical flamboyant gay boy, young and pretty. But we have already said that Kevin doesn't fit his conventional role and so doesn't Justin. Justin is older than Kevin, and yes, maybe he is a bit flamboyant, but not so much to outshine poor Kevin. I think Justin was like that when he was 20-25, but not that he is more than 30, he has arrived to a moment in his life when he is looking for Mr Right. And yes, maybe in his mind Mr Right is an older, and wealthier, man, but love has other idea. When Justin meets Kevin by chance, on the street, he is suddenly smitten, and in love.

At first Justin comes out so strongly, that the reader has a bit of trouble to judge Kevin. From the blurb, I wasn't really thinking to like Kevin, I don't know, I had this feeling that Kevin was taking advantage of "poor" Justin. But then, as I said, the reader has the chance to see that basically Kevin is a good boy, that he really doesn't want to hurt Justin in any way, and truth be told, Justin seems a man who is more than capable to look after himself. There is a fine play of balancing, Kevin is the one who needs something by Justin, but Justin is the one who has probably the strongest will, and so I have never felt as Kevin was wronging him.

It's also a pretty sexy story, not so much and so soon as I was, again, expecting. At first it's more kissing and cuddling, more sweet than sexy, but when the sexy part arrives, it's good and fun. Even if Kevin is shy in life, he is not shy in bed, not at all; I have the feeling that Kevin has arrived first to understand his sexual desires than his life-choice ones.

For my first Jet Mykles book I wasn’t really sure what to expect. I ended up really liking it even though it started to unravel near the end. Kevin and Justin were cute together but they frustrated me a lot. I was getting tired of Kevin always saying to himself “let Victor have Justin”. And then Justin’s character was all over the place. One minute he was flaming and then really masculine the next. So the image of him kept switching back and forth in my head. The ending was extremely predictable but I still enjoyed the story overall.

My first impression of Kevin and Justin are as believable as it gets for a Jet Mykles gfy themed romance. I LOVE her boys. I really do!

Kevin wants to get ahead at work, but instead of sleeping with the boss he just wants to talk. So he devises a plan that involves an overly animated, who happens to be gay, guy he runs into.

Justin is drawn perfectly. I love his attitude and how he hits on Kevin.
The blantant come-ons are cute and really set up the tone/nature of what
the exchanges between them will go like.

Jet, for me, creates a really fun scenario for her characters. It sometimes has an emotional explosion but for most of the story your caught up in the excitement of sexual exploration. I like seeing how the two men will except their attraction and what they will think of that first contact. These two were almost as mush a treat to read as my favorite HS boys: Johnnie and Tyler. Expect it would be hard to do an exact comparsion to either Jonhnnie or Tyler personality-wise. It was just the ease of which you fall for them I guess.

The story alone doesn't make you love these guys. Just except that the plot is "Yes, OK. Whatever." believable and you will be able to enjoy it with full gay for you appreciation. Stepping out of the Heaven Sent comfort zone I was impressed I was entertained by these two.

This was good and I enjoyed it.

I loved how open Justin was about wanting Kevin, even though he thought Kevin was straight at that time.

“I've just fallen in love with you,” Justin declared, cradling his coffee cup to his chest as he kept hold on the vision's arm. “What is your name, and please tell me you're gay?”

When Kevin asks Justin to be his pretend boyfriend, Justin says yes. But it doesn’t take much time for Kevin to come around and totally embrace the gayness.

description

A bit farfetched and unrealistic, but okay, I just went with it.

The sex and sweet times were nice and I was really enjoying this right up until all the drama started at 80%. It didn’t last that long, so that was good. But it did lose half a star for it.

I have read in some reviews that there would be

An enjoyable and sweet GFY with some angst at the end.

*blink. blink*

Justin is such a queen that I, like Kevin, was quite poleaxed by him at first. After the initial shock wore off, he was actually quite fun to read about. Makes me want a sassy gay friend of my own...

I actually quite liked it. The premise is the same as in The Beard, but worked more...spontaneously, I guess?
It's completely zany and odd, but the author really commits to it and that makes the entire thing not-awk.

Just For You by Jet Mykels was a sweet gay for you piece that was seriously cute and hot! It felt like a book that didn’t take itself too seriously and as a result a plot device that might have had me rolling my eyes was an absolute delight. A throughly enjoyable read from one of my favorite authors. Get it at Loose Id.

I was given this book for the July Comfort Zone challenge and I'm really glad I read it - it was so sweet but sexy and hot at the same time. It was my first Jet Mykles but definitely won't be my last. I loved her characterization of both Justin and Kevin, as well as all the interwoven elements of angst, humor and romance. Thanks for the recommend and I definitely will recommend it to others.

A Joyfully Jay review.

4.5 stars

I absolutely adored this book! Reason number one: Justin Tolliver. He is beyond adorable! He is the stereotypical Queen. Touchy, feely, a constant flirt who is unafraid to let his emotions show, Justin has no problem chasing a stranger down the street to tell them that they are his Prince Charming. What is not to love? When Kevin approaches him to play the role of his boyfriend, he agrees to do so just to have Kevin around him…oh, and they will have to kiss each other to make it look “real.”

Reason number two: Kevin Fuller. Kevin is a total computer geek who won’t deny that Justin is an attractive man…nor would he deny his penis twitched at the thought of Justin’s lips wrapped around it…but that doesn’t make him gay. Okay, maybe he’s a little bit jealous when Victor hits on Justin, and maybe he should feel some attraction to the Victor’s beautiful sister, but all he sees is Kevin.

Reason number three: the banter between Justin and Kevin had me in stitches.

Reason number four: this book is so well written and moves at such a fast pace, you just don’t want to put it down. Then when you’re finished, you wished it was longer because you just don’t want it to be over.

Reason number five: the sexual chemistry was burning up my kindle! Let’s just say that Kevin is very curious and Justin defies one of the Queen stereotypes between the sheets.

This was such a delight to read, mostly for Justin's sake. I haven't raced ahead to read more pages in a contemporary for a while. The only problem for me was the ending. I felt like the story wrapped up a little too fast and maybe a little too neatly for what seemed probable. Still, this was a delightful book to read and maybe one of the best gay for you stories that I've read, simply because it is a notoriously difficult trope to write successfully and believably. Perhaps Justin's grandiose behavior, speech, and outlook on life is what made this different from most.

More like 3.5 Stars!

This was almost exactly what I had been looking for recommendations for...a guy who 'pretends' to be gay or in someway some event tosses the pair together and they end up falling for each other. You're thinking, that's what this book was about right. Well yes, in theory but it wasn't pulled off the way I was hoping.

Neither here nor there...Justin was a fabulous character and I fell in love with him as fast as he did with Kevin.

Cute, Fun, Sexiness and some great one-liners!

Just For You is a light, easy read. Definitely not much depth here, but the characters are likable and the story moves quickly. Justin is the main reason to read this book; he is completely outrageous, and his dialog is often hilarious. Most the best scenes between Justin and Kevin take place early in the story. Unfortunately, once it gets off the ground, the development of their relationship feels a bit rushed. The ending is predictable and a bit too easy, but at least that makes for a stress-free reading experience.

I liked how the author turned the stereotype on its head & had the flamboyant Justin actually turn out to be the alpha in this relationship between he & Kevin. It's a definite gay for you story, so avoid if you don't care for this type of story. You have to commit to the story & close your eyes to some of the more unbelievable aspects to enjoy. I must have because I really enjoyed this story.

I thought it was a sweet GFY story with just the right touch of angst to make me not want to put it down, even though I should have. I loved the banter between the characters. I'm giving it 4.5 stars, rounded down to 4. If it has the reread-ability in due time, then I'll up it to 5 stars on GR.

I quite liked this book. It was my first Jet Mykles (sacrilege I know!). It was a fun light read. Not very angsty with a bit of humor thrown in there. While I liked Kevin, Justin was my favorite. If this is indicative of JM's books I think I'll give others a look over...

This is a cute, fun, flirty and easy story with a classic gay for you main character, a self-esteem crisis and some over the top stereotypes. Adding to the mix is Mykles’ great prose and way with characters and this story may be full of clichés and some outrageous elements but it’s delightful and entertaining to read. Mykles has a way with characters and stories that inject humor into what could otherwise be ridiculous. Fans of the author will definitely want to check out this offering just as those readers looking for something light and quick will devour this story in one sitting.

The story starts off with a bang when flamboyant clothier Justin sees the man of his dreams on the sidewalk. Chasing down his prince charming Justin is heartbroken to learn that Kevin is sadly not gay but Justin can’t help offering his name just in case Kevin changes his mind. As luck would have it, Kevin suddenly needs to pretend to be gay to advance at work and Justin comes in very handy. What starts as a ruse soon becomes more as Kevin realizes he just may be gay for the right man.

Justin may be a stereotype gay man but he’s hilarious, entertaining, and thoroughly absorbing. His initial over the top personality soon shows more depth as he struggles with letting his heart run away to a straight man. Justin shows an ease and confidence that contrasts starkly with Kevin’s mess of confusion, fear, and insecurity. Justin’s few moments of doubt are heartfelt and create a solid characterization that extends beyond the classic fashion obsessed outline. Similarly Kevin shows refreshing delight in his ease in accepting his desire and feelings for Justin. Kevin doesn’t agonize about suddenly wanting and caring for a man, instead Kevin wonders why Justin would want him over a more attractive, more successful confident gay man. The nice change to this crisis of self confidence is that the scenes felt honest and would have happened even if Justin was female. Kevin needed to gain security and appreciation for himself, regardless of his partner’s gender.

The plot itself bounces around some with the emphasis first on Kevin breaking into the upper ranks at work in their gay men’s club but then evolves into the head of the company aggressively pursuing Justin. The main conflict comes with Kevin’s passive nature and Victor’s pursuit. The various secondary characters are fun and especially the little seen Frank and Glenn/Rachel. All three of these were interesting and entertaining, more so than the outrageous cliché of Luis and Kat, so the only complaint would be too little was seen of these great characters. Other than this, the story is meant to be humorous and light, not taking each element too seriously and injecting an element of fun which lets the reader laugh at the ridiculous antics. The quick pace, engaging prose, and solid writing creates a winning offering you won’t want to miss.

Okay. That was sweet. No two ways about it. Endearing protagonists, much love and no superfluous sex scenes. Oh sure, this wasn’t overly serious or complicated and it brimmed with stereotypes but they worked for the story.

As I’ve come to expect from this author there’s a heavy leaning towards one perspective (the converted bottom) over the other. Okay. Usually it’s full single. But I’m glad that we do get quite a bit of Justin here as well.

What I particularly appreciated was the lack of evil intent. Neither guy was out to use the other or take advantage; plus they avoided stupid misunderstandings.

Somewhat irritating I found this “either gay or straight; no other option exists” attitude of pretty much everyone. If it had been just one or two characters, all right. Some people have that view. But no. It saturated everything. I suppose that’s a discussion far beyond the scope of this book, but to me it soured things a tad.

I mean, yeah. This being a sort of Gay For You story under the above premise meant that the ex-straight guy had been gay all along, just never realized it, so it really wasn’t a true exception to preferences as would be at the core of a GFY. And I would point out that . So despite everyone’s expressed opinion in this book? He’s in fact portrayed as bi to some extent at the very least.

On the whole this was a breezy read that made me laugh quite a few times, in utter defiance of being struck down with the The Flu From Hell.

Really, aside from what I noted, I have no complaints at all. <3

This is a little, light-hearted, not very realistic, but slightly funny love story. Unfortunately it also contains insta-love: first crush to "I love you" within a very short period of time, that feels even shorter. For me insta-love doesn't only have a time-factor, it also has a "telling, not showing" part. What I missed here was to learn how they fall in love with each other and why. There is not much visible of the respective personalities and characters, only a cursory description and physical appearances.
The very little drama this contained doesn't really make a great story. So it is only a little piece about a supposedly straight guy who falls for a persistent gay guy and the quickly wander into the sun set together.

The story flow was good and it was mildly entertaining.
