Lord of the Four Quarters, primarily an anthology of texts and reproduction of works of art and ritual objects, is an imaginative study of the myths of celestial and terrestrial kingship on the image of the Royal Father.
I found much of this engrossing and informative. The lists of (to me) unfamiliar mythical and historical figures and places became a bit indigestible at times. But it has become a springboard for further investigations into Mesopotamian cultures, for example. The evidence for Perry's fundamental thesis is compelling. All in all a very enriching experience.
