DEVO

Rate this book
“I was just nine years old when I first saved a life, yet by the age of fourteen, I’d killed a man.”

Nine-year-old Craig has special powers but, in a mid-21st century UK under authoritarian rule, that’s not something to shout about. Those identified with unnatural abilities are branded as ‘devos’ and thrown into detention camps.

While Craig does his utmost to avoid detection, it’s not long before he attracts the attention of the devo-police. When the authorities strike, Craig manages to escape, taking the life of a devo officer in the process, but Lucy, his similarly empowered girlfriend, is arrested along with their families.

Desperate to get his revenge and to free Lucy, Craig joins a revolutionary army of similarly empowered fighters who are intent on destroying the detention camps and overthrowing the government. Craig develops his powers, learning first to ‘fly’ and then to kill as he transforms from shy boy to empowered fighter.

Can Craig and his friends destroy the detention centres and bring down the government? They will have just one opportunity.

Originally conceived as a trilogy, all three parts of Devo are now available here as one volume. Written for young adults and those who remain young at heart, Devo follows Craig during the first nineteen tumultuous years of his life; through his years as a confused youngster, during his teens as he escapes the devo police and finally, as a trained killer, joining his colleagues as they take on the government.
