‘There Is No Flag Worth Dying For’, is an anthology of short stories based on real-life experiences of motherhood and life in a deeply divided society. The stories depict her life during 'The Troubles,' a violent conflict in Northern Ireland for over thirty years.
The former psychiatric nurse recounts her transition from her hometown on the border to Armagh City, also known as the 'Murder Mile’. A run-in with the local Che Guevara and the family’s bond with their closest friends from the opposing side of the divide. The two husbands, both working in lawless Belfast, were neighbours, and it was more economical for them to travel together. More economical, safer, and more dangerous if people learned about their different religious persuasions. They frequently plotted on changing cars, travel times and routes to stay alive.

Love this group of short stories detailing a woman’s life during the troubles in Northern Ireland. It was inspiring to read about her bravery and sad to learn of the loss of life so close to her. A great insight into Murder and Memory in Northern Ireland.
