Hell hath no fury... Saphiel’s gone and it’s all Kami’s fault. Panicked and riddled with guilt, she turns to the only one who can help, only to fall into the wrong hands. It seems opportunity has knocked, and not a single enemy is willing to miss out. Everyone wants their dues, and Kami’s the perfect bait. All she wants is to reunite with Saph and she’ll face off with the Devil himself to do it. Facing herself and the reluctant truths of her heart are a whole other matter, especially when it could be too late. Will the unforgiving Avarice ever pardon her for endangering them both? As the calendar races toward Beltane, sickening plots of greed and single-minded obsessions continue to unravel all around them, but their greatest challenge awaits in the aftermath of retribution. Can they find some semblance of redemption in one another at last, or will the demon within change everything? ...like a Devil unleashed. Trigger/Content This book contains unorthodox religious views, graphic anal sex, explicit language, dark eroticism, BDSM, breath play, violence and references to demonology, paganism and the occult. Just WOW! This novella series has gotten under my skin. When we left off in book 2, Kami’s man, Saph, has disappeared right in front of her and yes it is all her fault. So Kami does what any one who isn’t exactly thinking rationally would do, she turns to his family for help (as Saph had instructed her to do in there was ever trouble). BUT HOLY COW, has she forgotten who is brother’s are? Do they get to her in time? Do they Help her save Saph (as if a being like Saph really needs help)? And who has betrayed them, warned her and why?
As I read along I became more and more entranced with Kami and Saph. Their connection is phenomenal. He is not near the bad guy he portrays, Bad Ass you betcha, but a bad guy - not really. Saph is just control freak, especially when it comes to Kami. The author will take you on a whirlwind of a ride as Kami and Saph get closer and closer to her demon’s arrival. Does Kami come to terms with things? Does she finally accept Saph and the world that he says she is a part of? Does Kami accept her destiny and live with it? So many questions… but they are all answered in Avarice Unleashed.
If you haven’t started this amazing trio of novellas, I Highly Recommend you Do So! They are an absolutely fabulous read and this very erotic journey will literally take to you to hell and back and have you loving every minute of it (except the times you’ll worrying your butt off wondering what’s going to happen next).. To the Author I would like to say 2 Thumbs up for a great job and this readers truly hopes you write more stories in this genre and if wishes came true, stories with some of Saph and Kami’s friends & family would be in the mix.
I've had a bumpy ride reading these three novellas. I absolutely loved book 1, but it took me ages to get through book 2. I was hesitant to start reading book 3.
I did not really like the beginning of this story. As with all A.C. Melody's stories I have trouble getting into them since it's been a while since I read the first two. So the first twenty pages I'm trying to get back into the world and remembering all the names and what happened.
About halfway through this book, the story takes off, and I finished it in a day, eager to find out what happens. The chemistry between Saph and Kami is back as it was in book one. The story is fast-paced, filled with adventures and the world is well set up and believable. I love their Dom/sub dynamic, and the sex in this book is hot!
I hoped the series would get a satisfactory ending and it did. The story reaches a sound conclusion, and I couldn't have wished for a better ending.
If you're looking for a good Fantasy read with a BDSM angle, then please read this book. It is well-written, the characters are well-developed, and the story is well thought out. You certainly won't regret it!
I received aan ARC of this book by the author in exchange for a honest review.
I had the honor of getting this book for free for an honest review.
As many people who follow my goodreads account know, I love my romance but I am picky too. It takes a lot for me to give a romance a 4 or 5 star rating and I don't hold any punches when I review them. The Hell on Earth series has quickly become one of my favorite dark paranormal romance series. The books feature demons and that took me a bit to get comfortable with but honestly, I just loved the characters. The characters banter this whole series and I loved it. While reading this book I couldn't stop smiling at the characters.
Now that I have gushed about the series, I should start talking about this book. Avarice Unleashed was a captivating read that was a great conclusion (please don't let this be the last one in the series) to the series. The characters were fun to read and get to know. The banter was amazing and I loved everything about this series.
If you're looking for a new dark romance series to read, this is the series for you.
They’re baaack! The devilishly hot duo of Saphiel and Kami are back in the third installment of the Avarice series in Avarice Unleashed. (Though there is a girl on a leash, fair warning. s well as kinky sex, demonology, and some pretty twisted religious themes.) In other words, it’s a completely yummy, dark and twisty tale that A.C. is a master at telling.
Things aren’t looking too hot for Saph when we join this tale, and Kami is running around, trying to not only stay safe, but figure out what the seal has to do with Saph’s disappearance. She calls for help, but help isn’t exactly what she gets. A human family has got their clutches on Saph. Will Kami see him again? You’ll need to grab a copy to find out!
And you really, really should! What a wonderful book this outing! It’s steamy, kinda dirty, definitely kinky, and so different that you just can’t put it down. Bravo!
From the beginning of Avarice and moving on to Avarice Unforgiving, the list of growing questions keep the reader engaged and on the edge of their seat. A few bits and pieces of answers are tossed out in book 2, but they only serve to ignite more questions! Avarice Unleashed answers all questions… in ways the reader will never see coming.
Saphiel is gone and in her quest to find-in her mind… rescue-him, Kameo Kross must accept even more incredulous truths. It’s all or nothing, and Kami finally accepts she cannot be without her devil.
This is such a well-developed character! Even though the truth was Kami had nowhere to go, a lesser female would have tried. The seemingly endless situations of peril had ME on edge, but Kami rose to the occasion! Early in chapter two, she thought, “…she was getting really tired of being abducted” and “How many times was one person supposed to find themselves in a potentially life-threatening situation in the same week?” HA! Score Kameo Kross! Not fearless… but fierce!
Determined to find her man... er, devil, Kami finds out someone she once trusted is not even close to whom she believed them to be. It is then Kameo Kross understands despite the eons-old thought of demons and devils being vile and evil entities, the avarice of humans makes them much worse. A devil never threatened her life… but humans did.
Retribution is swift and I must say… justified. If you don’t want a devil to bother you… don’t bother him! Kami also finds out how deeply she was betrayed by someone she once cared for and takes no issue with the punishment given.
Kami’s roommate, Zoe Bankes, is front and center, and oh, so much fun! Big nods to the author for another strong female character! Her girlfriend banter with Kami is on point, and she doesn’t sugar-coat her personality for Saphiel! Zoe is the ultimate BFF because she will always tell you the truth whether you want to hear it or not, and she always has your back… even if demons are involved!
Kami is apprehensive as Beltane approaches. Even Saphiel has doubts. Everything could change… something neither of them wants. Will they survive?
This is a complex, challenging read and not for the faint-of-heart. If you’re easily offended, please don’t read this. Take heed of the author’s disclaimer. This isn’t comfy, cozy, or warm. It is challenging and even shocking in some areas. But, everything in this read has meaning… EVERYTHING. Nothing is gratuitous or a last minute add-in. It is often said one must suspend belief to read fiction. For the Avarice series, I disagree. Grab your beliefs and hold them close. You’ll need them.
Avarice Unleashed is a fitting conclusion to an epic series. Kudos to the author for delivering such a complex, detailed three-book story, and doing it in less than a year.
I stepped way out of my reading comfort zone for this series and I’m glad I did. Do I want to be Kameo Kross? No way! But, I am happy for her. She found what she’d spent two lifetimes searching for… and isn’t that the heart of any romance novel? Indulge in a little avarice – no judgments here!
