Summary of What We Owe the Future by William MacAskill

Rate this book
What Alice Forgot is a novel written by Australian writer Liane Moriarty. It is a drama novel with some humor in it. The story is about a 39-year-old who accidentally fell during one of her gym trainings. She ended up hitting her head, which resulted in the memory loss of her previous 10 years of life.
She thinks that she is 29, but she is actually 39, has three children, and her marriage is on the brink of a divorce, which she does not realize at first.
The novel is written in a very intriguing and rather interesting way. It makes us ask how we would feel if we had a similar accident and thus, lost an entire period of life. What would the ‘younger’ versions of ourselves think or say about life if they suddenly found themselves in their future (and our present)?
Besides the main female character, we are introduced to some other supporting characters that help discover and bring an end to the whole mess of the protagonist’s life.
What Alice Forgot is another example of Moriarty’s quirky, charming, and in-depth style of writing. Once again, she successfully manages to keep the readers reading from cover to cover until they are done with the novel.
