Timothy Ellis lives on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia; where he constantly battles with his cat for possession of his desk chair, Daleks do guard duty, and he keeps his sonic screwdriver next to his lightsaber and wand. Now there is a female Doctor Who, he eagerly awaits the sound of the Tardis materializing in his house.

He has spent his life reading and watching science fiction and fantasy, and has been playing Space Genre computer games since he used to be smuggled in to play the original text Star Trek game on a university mainframe, long before the PC or Apple appeared. Since 2004, he's written game guides for the Egosoft X Universe series, culminating in two versions of the X3 Handbook. He has also designed major mods for the various games, and dozens of mini mods.

He has been a farm worker, Antique Dealer, Computer Programmer, Systems Analyst, Operations Manager of a small retail chain, and Retail Store Owner. He is now a full time author, who still does Spiritual Healer and helper work.

After leaving behind the corporate and business worlds, he was opened to his Spiritual gifts. Now a Feng Shui Master, Feng Shui led him to Buddhism, Karma, the Tao, and back to western spiritualism. Since 2006 he has been writing spiritual articles and helping people via spiritual forums and Facebook Groups. His spiritual books include "Personal Healing Using Basic Meditation", "Life Harmony, Feng Shui in Plain English", '101 Tips for the John of God Brazil Experience', and "The Wisdom of the Ages is available for the price of asking a question" series of 8 books. His own spiritual healing led him to writing novels.

His first novel, 'Hero at Large', spawning the long running 'The Hunter Imperium' universe, brings together his love of the space genre, magic, spirituality, and cats. Imagine being your own game master in a role playing game, or playing a video game with a god codes on. That's what this book is for Jonathan Hunter oh, and that's what every book before this has been for Jonathan Hunter.

This book is more of the same as the previous books, an endless string of winning by the main character filled with women, promotions, and ridiculous battle tactics. It's honestly getting to the point where it's not even fun to read anymore it's getting so ridiculous. I'm going to start the next book on KU but if something doesn't change I doubt I'm going to finish it.

I've had more than enough of Ellis' writing. The complete lack of realism in terms of timing, resources and human behavior is hard to forgive. Once any sense of reasonable opposition is taken away, these flaws become ever more obvious.

This book's antagonist somehow has a device that spits out hundreds of warships in a day with no need for resupply and barely any human involvement. It's not magic though. They use these swarms ships to attack new systems at the same time every day, with no reconnaissance, reserves, or strategic observers. It comes as no surprise that these idiots are easily defeated. What is surprising is our hero, who's never been to officer school, being promoted to flag rank in under a year.

There's no challenge, no risk, and no concept of actual warfare. Even as pulp fiction, Ellis' writing has become lazy. Sorry for the rant... forcing myself to finish this book made me a little angry.

Interesting, but …

The storyline continues in much the same manner as the previous books. Plenty of action, sufficient descriptions to support the activities and events designed to fit each situation. Unfortunately, this installment ends with the reader hanging, waiting for the next line. It was unexpected and not pleasant.

A repetitive grind through pointless detail

No character development. The spiritual arc started previously ignored. Important plot details left hanging. Starting to think the author is paid by the word. Those following the series could skip the whole thing

Well i read all 4 books in 4 days. It's the kind of book that you have a hard time to put it down. As i said before, it's simple and straightforward. Hero always win and getting what he needs when he needs. But i really like it. No need to overthink just go with the story :) Starting the 5th book

Annoying cliff hanger at the end. Not as enjoyable as the first couple of books. No longer any tension since every situation is instantly and easily resolved by the hero, no matter how ridiculous. There is no challenge, therefore there is no triumph.

The cliffhanger endings are cliche'.

Kindle Unlimited~ YAY!

I genuinely thought that I'd reached the point where I wouldn't get through Book 4 due to the battle action & strategy centric nature of the storyline. There were a few spots where I flipped past military detail, but there were very few. Everything else held my interest and I truly enjoyed the story even though I didn't quite track some things. But, as I've stated, this is so not my usual genre.


4 stars to 1 star because if you read to the end, there's a reset to an alternate timeline path where none of the characters or events existed. So all of this is irrelevant, including my original review.

Okay, I know that I am not necessarily the target audience for this book, but I have to say I really enjoyed it. The science is a bit (to say the least) fanciful and the story puts me in mind of the musing of a young man daydreaming about being a hero (always saving the day, always accepted, always getting the medals, and of course, always getting the girl); but who cares. The writing is good, the storyline is interesting, the action is just right, and most importantly, the characters are people to love or hate. This book an entertaining escape, pure and simple. I read all (5 at the time) books in a row and look forward to seeing more in the future.

I knew he would do it

It never fails when a story gets going good, a to be continued pops up. Now I have to wait for book five. It SUCKS. The story was excellent and the action was one of his best. I still have no idea how Jon will get through his visions.

There has been a slight touch of the ‘supernatural’ in the previous books, but in this, the mystical is more prominent. I’m not sure if I like this or not, it certainly breaks the flow of the story because you never know if what you are reading is real of yet another ‘flash forward’. I’m also not sure about the Yoda references.

Another Cliff-hanger ending!!!! It’s a good job the next book was published only a few months later or this would really be annoying.

Bruises, Bruises, Bruises

The saga continues. Jon continues to gain power and rank. As a possible 18 year old, he may be comfortable with command and battle strategy, but he feels totally incompetent when it comes to girls feelings and thinking. I like the humor, characters, and story. The chemistry of the characters flows smoothly. The end of the book is a real cliffhanger. I look forward to the next book.
