Kyousuke Motomi (最富キョウスケ Motomi Kyōsuke) is a Japanese mangaka whose stories have frequently been published in the monthly Betsucomi magazine. She is most currently working on Dengeki Daisy.
She uses a male pseudonym and draws herself as a man, but she's actually female."If my stories can touch you, make you laugh, forget unhappy things, or even give you that 'good job' feeling, then I'll be super, super happy!" - Kyousuke Motomi
This is fine UST but what happened to the plot with the missing program or whatever that the people who killed her brother were after? More action, less pining and curry.
Teru and Kurosaki/Daisy go on an impromptu trip to buy Teru a bikini since all she owns is the school's swimsuit, and she will need to one for the trip she’s doing with her school friends. Also, since they need an adult to supervise she asks Kurosaki, but he begs Riko to go in his place, so Riko ends up going with everyone and Kurosaki stays, mostly sulking, getting drunk at his friend's workplace and complaining about how he can't confess his love for Teru because she would hate him if she found out he is actually Daisy. - he's so cute btw, his friend tells him he can no longer live without her and Kurosaki doesn't even deny it!
If you're expecting the usual banter and hilariousness from Teru and Kurosaki you won't be disappointed - I laughed my pants off due to two pictures Teru sent to Kurosaki while she was on her trip. You should also expect loads of cuteness between the both of them.
Right towards the end of this volume you will have DA FEELS.
I seriously love me a good age gap romance. There are some major things that happen in this particular volume. I was a bit surprised at the reactions of some of the characters because of these major events. I am truly looking forward to how our characters continue to progress and grow as I continue to read on in this series!
Summer vacation starts tomorrow, and Teru is about to move into an apartment with Riko - a move that is both exciting and sad, as it means leaving Kurosaki's side. She's conflicted about the move, but thinks it is surely what he wants, to have her out of his hair. In that case, she'll just have to make the most out of their last night together!
Teru's friends wonder why she is leaving him, and she is having difficulty making them understand her reasons. Actually, she isn't entirely clear on that point herself. She decides to cook on their last night together, to make it a really good night. Riko is trying to shake Kurosaki into admitting he doesn't want Teru to move out, but he's hiding behind his facade of male indifference - stubborn to the last! Kurosaki is surprised that Teru is there when he gets home; she hands him the grocery list, and talks him into going for her. While he is gone, Riko comes by to get Teru's help with her packing, and offers to let her spend the night at her house, what's one last night, after all? Teru declines the invitation, preferring to return to Kurosaki's, where she discovers that he has actually been cooking - and quite well! So, why is Teru crying?
Teru's move is finished (and far less traumatically then she could have hoped for, thanks to the proximity of her new apartment to Kurosaki's), and life goes on. It's a rainy day. She had to cut short her assistance of Kurosaki (her indentured servitude, so to speak), so she heads to her summer college prep class. Her hair is frizzy cause of the weather, and she is very sleepy, a direct effect of the weather. An old classmate of Teru's from junior high, Ijima, approaches her with concern for her well being. His jealous girlfriend doesn't interpret his interest that way! Kiyoshi returns to class, the first time that Teru has seen him since the incident in Volume 2, for which she bears him no ill will. Later, they are both working for Kurosaki (Kiyoshi is now his #2 servant), and Kiyoshi explains to Kurosaki the significance of wet weather to Teru, and why it affects her so. Can the kind-hearted custodian do anything to cheer her up?
Teru dreams about her late brother Soichiro, but she doesn't know why. Now she's being dragged around by Kurosaki in his quest to find the lightest cheesecake that he can - his penalty for losing to Riko at Mahjongg. A close call occurs when Teru texts Daisy - and Kurosaki's phone beeps, announcing the arrival of a text message at that moment too! Coincidence, or could it be that . . . Kurosaki is so unnerved that he loses track of Teru in the crowds, and doesn't realize she isn't behind him - or that she has a low cell phone! To complicate matters, she's just been approached by Mr. Takeda, the teacher who was the cause of so much trouble before! He tells her he knows of the perfect place to buy the cheesecake, so she agrees to go with him. Then when Teru can't hear him, he phones Kurosaki and tells him that he has her - and incites him to come find her! The distraught Kurosaki begins a frantic search for Teru. Will he find her in time, and what is Takeda up to? Among other things, he brings up Daisy to her, and he asks Teru if there isn't someone she wishes that Dairy might be?
Teru is going on a four day summer trip with some friends. When Kurosaki learns she intends to wear her old school swimsuit, he insists on buying her another for the trip, so it's a-shopping they go, arguing over music on the way! He exposes her to Cyndi Lauper, and in particular a song he likes, Time After Time. She invites him to come with them on the trip, but he says no, and Riko goes instead. She calls Kurosaki and gives him play by play descriptions of what is going on. Kurosaki misses Teru more than he thought he would, and he's drinking too much, worrying about what will happen when she finds out he is Daisy, worried that will be the end of whatever it is they have. Whatever that is. Teru and her friends are buying souvenirs of their trip. Teru picks out a music box for Daisy - it's got shells on it, and it has a small chip, but it's the only one left - and it plays Time After Time. She wraps it and gives it to Riko to give to Daisy. Riko leaves early and gives it to Daisy/Kurosaki. A huge storm is now moving in, and Kurosaki is worried about Teru. Teru wonders if she should go home, even if she won't get a refund on her rooms, so she calls Kurosaki for his advice, and ends up coming home. An unexpected occurrence while Teru is at the store threatens to reveal everything, though - then what will she do?
If I told my Dad to go bald as much as Teru tells Kurosaki to go bald, he would say, "I'M ALREADY BALD, JOKE'S ON YOU!!!!" Instead of just bluntly taking Teru's words like Kurosaki. SHE SAYS IT SO MUCH. "Go bald, Kurosaki!"
But why?
Is it because she thinks hair is a man's most treasured treasure? Is it because she WANTS him to go bald? Is it because she's jealous of his hair? IS IT BECAUSE IT'S A WEIRD JAPANESE PHRASE THAT WE AMERICANS DO NOT SAY OFTEN NOR CLEARLY UNDERSTAND OR SAY WITHOUT SOUNDING LIKE A COMPLETE DORK????
(*Ahem) Anyway, wow. This cliffhanger almost got me. GOOD THING I ALREADY HAD VOLUME 4 ON HAND!
So, advice to my dear, lovely review readers: If you're gonna buy volume 3, buy volume 4 in advance so you don't end up going to the library and seeing that ALL THE BOOKS FREAKING DISAPPEARED. Because that is what happened to me and Dengeki Daisy. I GOT SO UPSET. One day all the volumes were there. THE NEXT DAY THEY WERE GONE FOREVER! I mean I get why people love books and I will fangirl with those other fangirl book lovers but HEY, THAT WAS MEAN OF THEM.
Dengeki Daisy is like no manga I've ever read before. It is funny and yet can be very, very serious. Plus it is also very suspenseful how Teru and Kurosaki love each other, but neither one really knows except for the readers and the rest of the characters. And it's also nice how it's a secret and that they don't hurry and start making out. Even though I really would like them to because if I was in Teru's place, I would love to begin love-love-loving Kurosaki.
Teru uncovers the secret but she doesn't let on that she knows, hoping that things will remain as they are between her and DAISY/Kurosaki. A lot of things start making sense now about Kurosaki's behavior and Teru is falling fast.
Kurosaki's friends have bigger roles in the story, especially Riko-san who used to be Teru's brother's girlfriend and now is Teru's friend and roommate.
Fun characters, interesting plot and an intriguing ongoing mystery.
I'm really starting to appreciate the art style these books have. The array of expressions and characterization through the design is great. I mean, every panel has a different composition and expression. Imagine being the artist having to draw that! You can see the amount of work that goes into creating such a varied and detailed story.
This is really shaping up to be an excellent series!
Contains Chapters 10 - 14: This series is really interesting and full of interesting characters. I look forward to seeing what happens in the next volume.
Chapter 10: You Won't Be Here. Chapter 11: Thank You, Always. Chapter 12: Inside that Cell Phone Chapter 13: The Moment of Truth Chapter 14: Secret
This book belonged to the best shoujo manga ever! Actually, there are lots of factors that bring out it's awesome-ness, (1)With its strong heroine, (2)conflicted hero, and (3)story -- OF COURSE that does both humor and emotion well, it is still most definitely a series worth reading.
I can't find the books description in english on goodreads but either way this series is really good. The ending made me wonder why Teru is doing what she is and how the events of the book are going to change the next book.
Can it get any cuter? Teru and Kurosaki are too cute I'm always just like: KISS ALREADY! This keeps getting better and better! Can't wait to continue with the story. I think I need a Daisy or even a Kurosaki in my life!
