I have an on/off thingy for MC romances, tho I have actually never made it through an entire Son's of Anarchy or Breaking Bad episode without switching over to the Science channel and watching BattleBots instead - I am kinda geeky like that.

But I really liked this one, the h was completely kick ass and I loved that she smote her enemies in the best style of Conan the Barbarian. Rayna was AWESOME and Fury was totally adorable in an Alpha Manly Biker sorta way. I had a good time with this and for once an h wasn't a doormat and did her own revenge thingy.

I think I will continue with this series, as I spend too much time in HPlandia with h's that make better throw rugs and doormats and I really am happy that an MC romance is featuring a lady who gets her own revenge groove on instead of just folding and waiting for the H to do it.

1 Fury and Rayna Star

As much as I love an MC Romance, this one did not work for me. It's pretty dark and gritty. The heroine is gang raped after being kidnapped. Lots of violence and I am just not in the right headspace at the moment for that. I ended up skimming the last half of the book.

Cheating? No

4 1/2 stars. I love this. No ow/om drama, no cheating, no separations. There are triggers, not a spoiler because you pretty much find out on page one.

The h has been held by an M.C. club that murdered her father and has raped (off page) and tortured for 3 months, she escapes and calls the pres of the Seven Deadlies for help. She gets a (graphic and violent) chance to revenge herself on some of the bad guys. The H comes to get her and instant connection. There are scenes of extreme violence in this story.

Love both of them. She is strong and kick-ass but shows her vulnerability. I've said it before, not a lot of authors can pull of a strong heroine without making them a bi**h or a shrew but I loved Rayna. Well done. I love the scene where she bitch-slaps a club ho, not over the H but in defense of someone else. It totally rocked.

Fury is awesome H, has his own darkness inside that makes him resist falling but he's never a bonehead about it. I loved watching them fall for each other and get to know one another. Their love scenes were hot. Would have loved more of them and I hope they are prominent in the next books.

Great secondary characters that I liked a lot, Green, Oz, Laura and Prettyboy stand out and I'd love to read more about them and the other brothers as well.

Quibbles- Calm down, they are small and didn't detract at all from my enjoyment but I noticed them. I would still re-read it.
Note: On one review on Amazon it's mentioned about some editing mistakes and the author commented that the edition uploaded to Amazon was by mistake and offered to email the reviewer an edited version. I thought that was really nice of her.

*Rayna has a broken arm from her escape from the rival MC, it's casted and then it's never mentioned at all again, like it just disappeared.
*The time between her captivity and getting a little jiggy with Fury seemed absurdly short. I would think she'd need at least some recovery time physically and emotionally. Later in the book where she nearly dies, it's just a few days and they're getting down.
*Some spelling errors and passages where I was confused about who was talking. Not a lot though.

DNF- I just couldn’t wrap my brain around all the instant sexual attraction after the fmc had been gang raped over a 3 month period…. Also she was portrayed as weak at first and then a total BA the next page.

COMMENTS/NOTES: Other than some editing issues, this was a solid read. Loved Rayna as a heroine- so strong and capable to hanging with the big boys. She literally saved herself and the MC. When Fury saw her scars -he was hooked. I also liked the playful relationship between Rayna and Green. It's nice to see men and women interacting without the sexual tension being front and center. I can't wait for Prettyboy's story and maybe an Ox/Laura hookup!

Leaning to 3.5 stars. First time author for me and if you like MC romances I recommend you try it out. It's available on KU. It is a standalone and no cliffy. The story revolves around Rayna and Fury. Rayna has been kidnapped by a rival club along with her father. Her father is killed. He's not a member of any club but a gun dealer. He's close friends with the president of the Seven Deadlies. Rayna is one of the most bad ass heroines I've read about but the author was able to also cast her in a soft side also. Both Fury and Rayna have baggage they are carrying. This could have been a 5 star read for me because I liked the way I picked up on Rayna and Fury's love for each other and especially liked the way the author wrote about Fury taking her to the beach and the thoughtful things he did for her. There were several weak plot points that were not believable to me. This author shows much potential and I've already clicked on book 2 in the series, which is about another club member.

What a great MC Romance!

Fury and Rayna story was of pain and darkness but love and happiness, from the first moment Rayna meets Fury she trusts him. Rayna has been missing for months when she got a chance to call a old friend of her fathers, OX the president of the Seven Deadlies MC that she needed help to get away from another Bad MC that killed her father as well tortured her. Fury was send to get her and she had done some damage to the other MC, she was in bad shape so Fury took her to his club and there she healed but Fury and Rayna was both afraid of their connection, until they learned they can live again in each other. I will have to say I LOVED Rayna, she was so strong thur her pain, I would not want to get her mad at me and Fury was loving and understanding of her. Great other characters and some action. Will be recommend this book to all romance readers!💗

It was good from the beginning.

There's a discrepancy when they went to Myrtle Beach they rode in Ox's Prized car but when they raced out of Myrtle Beach they rode out in Fury's bike. Another part is when she almost died after being shot and dying for a minute racing back from Myrtle Beach, she ended up having sex against a wall days later.

Couple of issues and inconsistencies.

The first sex scene just days after she's rescued, now from the description she was gangraped repeatedly over 3 months so I expect that to me multiple times a day. When laura examined her she said there was trauma. So my point being no way would her body be able take have sex with the damage caused from the rapes with tearing, bruising etc. It would take weeks for those to heal.

2nd after furys fight with Alex they go away, they're in a nice restaurant dancing. Yet I can't help think of her description of his injuries esp his swollen eye shut cut lips etc. Fury would look battered and terrible but they behave like he's fine.

Then they go on a road trip for her new id whilst knowing the other club is still out there looking for her and oh what a surprise they find them. I mean seriously they're stupid. Really stupid and I cant stand stupid people! So frustrating.

The timings or sense of time passing are completely out, one minutes shes rescued then she's going on a ride to get a passport, then shot on their escape and then she says she's been with them months when in my head I've read it as a couple of weeks maximum!!

Struggled to finish it was too corny n predictable.

Just not realistic

Also quite a lot of grammar errors.

2nd time reading this

Not for me

Once upon a time there was a book nerd who thought she'd never find another author who would capture her attention. She looked and looked, but slowly found that here and there she’d find a book that was good, but not great. Not one that would make her want to re-read parts, give up sleep, smile and genuinely fall for the characters, being truly invested in their story. That was until she found this book.

From the first pages I could tell this book was different. It was dark, but not too dark, enough that you get invested with the characters. I can tell when I do. It’s often a small thing, but it’s when I remember the characters names after reading the book. The book was well written, has a wonderful pace and doesn’t use words that leave the readers either feeling real people don’t talk that way or so boring you end up skipping huge parts at a time. There is no overload of sex, where the book relies on it to push the story forward, as it actually has a wonderful plot. But it’s hot so don’t worry. I started it not hoping for much and shortly found I didn’t want to put it down until I was finished.

Rayna Claire is someone that your heart both breaks for and cheers for. I’m not saying that she’s not written without out faults, but she’s relatable and human. The major trauma she endures does, she does seem to get over quickly in a way, but who’s to say how long a person needs to heal? Or what exactly it takes for them to heal? Some may disagree and to some degree, I would concede to that, but it is a point I let go. The strength she finds in the book is well written and I found I really, really liked her. She wasn’t simpering, she didn’t wallow, she wasn’t over the top and she was quite simply human. She was someone I could imagine actually hanging around with.

Fury. Tortured, caring, brooding, confused, loving, guilt ridden, protective, rough and gentle Fury. What more can you say about him? He’s what you would ask for in an alpha. This author didn’t over reach or over characterize him, but created her own alpha who was maddening but at the same time loveable. It was hard not to fall in love with him. The author didn’t take a lot of space writing about physical attributes, but rather wrote enough for the general picture and then your imagination took over. He was protective but at the same time mature enough to understand the damage Rayna had endured and respect it. He was never rash, sometimes maddeningly responsible in his thinking. His handle on his own demons is something that makes your heartbreak and want to help him heal. His self-doubt and own brand of love support Rayna to their own version of a happy ever after.

Now there are a few issues with this book. There not big, so more like suggestions. The author could use with a good beta reader. There are a few out of context words and a lot of missing spacing. When I say missing spacing, I mean where one person’s sentence ends, another one’s begins. Sometimes this happens with the quotation marks, sometimes without. Another thing I would have to suggest would be more firm time jump indications. Whether it be as simple as “two weeks later” in italics or a simple use of asterisks to denote some shift in the timeline, it would be helpful. These are easily over looked and after a bit of time you don’t notice as much, since the book is very well written. One last thing had to do with a part when the take the car, but I guess towed Fury's bike. That part was confusing. I just over looked it and left it. I don't think it was a well thought out twist. ** For this I would give the book 4.5 stars instead of 5. Since that isn’t available 4 is what the review will show. But I will be reading the next in the series. **

Let me start by saying that I think the author is an excellent romance novelist. Truly, the pages that covered the near death following the 'weekend away' were some of the best I've read. It's the MC genre that needs a lot work. In this world, MC members don't 'get their feelings hurt' (direct quote). They don't show a lot of compassion and understanding. Alpha members don't give each other emotional and relationship advice, solicited or not. It all does happen a lot in this book. The Seven Deadlies are apparently The Brady Bunch of the MC world.

Using the idea that a book is a description of human behavior, this story left me confused with some of it. I think the problem is that the story moved too fast through time to make the behavior believable. It was a real stretch at times to see any realism. Not to give anything away but one day she's in such tremendous physical and emotional pain, with an arm in a cast (which was never mentioned again), having suffered unspeakable physical torture to the next day getting drunk trying to seduce her love interest. Later in the book she's shot, almost dying, to two days later romping away again like bunnies. Miraculous turn around both times (heavy sarcasm). Furthermore, he's an MC alpha slut and she's has untold physical torture but no safe sex, no testing...huh? There were also a lot of editorial mistakes - missing letters in words, etc. It just detracts.

In the end I would give the author 5 stars as a contemporary romance author and suggest strongly she pursue that field, but a 1 star within the MC genre. I expected them to break out into song around the bonfire. 😏

I enjoyed this book as was suprised because there were a few issues that made reading it annoying. When I bought it, it was stated that this was an updated and revised edition, so I was expecting near perfect grammar and editing; that was not the case. There were still a few editing mistakes, wrong word choices, and formatting issues. They detracted from the reading experience, but not the story.

The way the story was formatted was troublesome as there was no breaks between characters talking (a change in narration), and I had check quite a few times to see who really was talking. There was random breaks mid sentence, the start of a new paragraph in the middle of a thought.

There were two characters with the same name, Ryder and Rider. This was a bit confusing when they were in the same scene together. I have listed a few other issues listed in my reading notes. Tgese were all small issues and down grated tge reading experience just a bit, but did not reaally hurt the story line or characters.

I enjoyed this story, overall. The characters were well developed, thought out, realistic, and fun to read about. I liked their humor as well as their issues. Rayna kicked a*&, and was an amazing woman. The story was a bit dark emotionally (there might be some trigger issues for some), and a but simple, but it worked well. I do love crazy characters, so Green stole the story a bit. I will read him next. Pleasantly surprised and excited to read more.

Excellent

This is my third attempt at completing my review, both prior attempts ware in the ether somewhere !
I read some interesting comments on a ‘name that books’ group I belong to on Facebook, the comments about differing attitudes to publishing and pressure from ‘others’ affecting an author’s life and career piqued my interest further & I managed to track this book down......and I’m so very glad I did !
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, the storyline was original, the characters well formed and the rollicking pace correlated well with the swiftly unfolding tale, the characters in this interesting story were superbly drawn and without any fluffing up.
It was so good I shall certainly reread this and track down some of her other work, very soon.
Recommended.....if you haven’t already guessed !!

HOLY! WHAT A BOOK!!! Seriously! I loved how badass yet still a bit unsure of her self the heroine was in this book! It was the perfect balance. Rayna is the daughter of a gun dealer who keeps his business close to vest. He has everything down in a black book. They are kidnapped and tortured beyond measure. Rayna survives. She gets away by way of a friendly MC. The Seven Deadlies. Fury is a man spiralling into the deep darkness. His sister was tortured and murdered during a war between his MC and another.
That's all I'm saying because, honestly, you need to read this book!!
Thank you, K. Ewald for an awesome read!

Glad I checked this author out.

This book was dark, but still good. I really liked Rayna she is an amazing strong woman to deal with everything she did in this book. Fury was supposed to be the very dark and tortured hero. Granted he suffered a terrible lose but he over came it too easily for me. I really liked the characters in the book, a story about Green would probably be hilarious. I wish I got to learn more about them. There is dark themes, rape, torture and murder. But it's all done in a way that isn't too in your face or makes the book too disturbing. There were a few grammatical errors but nothing too bad. It's actually a rather action packed ride.

The author needs to edit this big time. Take an anatomy class and research injuries. a broken nose and deviated septum. would have left the Rayna with 2 black and swollen eyes for days and would more than likely require surgery. the whole cherry red car going into the motel and leaving on his bike. uhmmmmmm yeah no. he asked her to lye with him at one point. so I figured hey maybe she wrote this on her cell phone? lol. Actually the story was great.and the characters awesome. just needs some serious editing. unless she used her cell phone like I do for my reviews. lol

3.5 STARS!!! This is the first book I've read of this author's and let me say that this was a pretty decent MC read. This is Fury and Rayna's story and it starts out pretty intense as Rayna has been kidnapped and abused by a rival MC but whatever uncomfortable and intense feelings you have while reading the beginning of this story quickly changes to awe and intense respect for Rayna because she is definitely a survivor and a pretty kick-a** woman. She's definitely ride or die and her and Fury make the perfect couple.

Loved it

I found this to be a very powerful and emotional story.
I was pulled right from the beginning, watching the story play out in my mind while reading the words on the page.
I laughed, I cried, I got annoyed and I might of got frustrated a time or two. I went through those emotions throughout the book.
Kaitlyn Ewald is a new author for me. I am looking forward to read book 2 in this series.
If your an MC fan and haven't read this book, then you might want to consider reading it. I am pleased I did.

There were things that just didn't make sense in this story, but this was a completely engaging story. Rayna was a complete bad*ss (just don't over analyze this because there are holes) and Fury was a pretty awesome secretly sweet tough guy. Totally enjoyable read, just a little squirrelly on the details and why did everyone including Rayna herself always use both her first and last name?!? That was weird.

The heroine is strong and not whiny. It is plausible for her to go off on a killing spree with a gun as her father taught her. She wasn't completely GI Jane but just competent in firing the gun.

I liked the Hero too. He was doing push and pull at the start coz he wanted the heroine but he didn't feel worthy. I could understand his pov.

No cheating and no om/ow drama. Once they committed to each other, there was no other relationship conflict.

The Seven Dealies MC Series was fantastic! I was sad to find out that there are currently only 4 books in this series since there are so many strong Alphas that need to be heard. Each and every book kept my interest to the fullest, I hated putting down my iPad to go to work. These books have grit, Alphas who are not only hot, tough as nails and loyal. The woman are just as tough and loyal. I can hardly wait for the rest of the series to unfold.

This was the first time reading this author. There were parts of the story that worked really well, other parts that had potential, and then there were the parts that completely took me out of the story. It was those parts, the ones that weren't plausible ((sexy times after 3 months of torture or sexy time after a gunshot to the belly), that took me out of the story. I realize this is fiction but this frustrated me because there was so much potential to be more.

Living through the pain

More than just your typical MC genre book. Fury is battling his own inner battle, and doesn't want to help heal the scarring of the girl they've been called to rescue. Rayna has lived through hell the past three months at the hands of a rival club. She needs more than just TLC and Fury is just the man for the task.

Dark storyline

This book was darker than I anticipated. The author could have captivated the readers without the bloody scenes. Another note, this book could have used an editor. A lot of errors like the wrong spelling of words (ex: lye is a cleaning product, not something you do in a bed).

It was a great read. It had great characters and a interesting story line. It had a little bit of everything I like in my MC books...action, drama, surprise twist and larger then life characters. The h is great and a little crazy but in a good way. I love strong female characters. This is going to be a great series to follow. Rated very good

Excellent Read

I am new to this author, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. The storyline itself was very captivating from the beginning. Fury and Rayna both have darkness, but bring life to each other’s world. You will not be disappointed by this book. Looking forward to book 2 in the series.

What a beginning.....

I saw the title and was intrigued. I read the first page and I had to one-click it. What a strong beginning with a strong visual written. This could only get better. I realize this is fantasy but I am not sure if some one could heal as fast and twice. However this was a good fast read.

First book I have read by this author. Book had a good story line and a strong female character to stand up to the strong Alpha MC man. However, I was really put off by how quickly they fell in lust/love and the desire she felt so soon after being rescued. Not to give anything away, but that part of the book just felt so rushed and really made me want to stop reading. If the lust could have waited a few months, versus a few days, I would have rated this higher. The author really rushed this and made me question why. With everything that happened to her, she was more traumatized over killing the people who hurt her, than what they actually did to her physically. I'm glad I finished the book, but am not rushing to read the next one in the series.
