The Shift

Earth's big man, Iridian Troy, has formed an unholy alliance with the Spang, an alien race that now rules the planet due to their perfect control of the Shift, a device that can relocate both space and time, with results that are not beneficial. The only person to stand up against Iridian Troy and the evil fluorescent-orange Spang is a conscience-ridden Handel officionado and incidently, Troy's righthand man- Gabriel Arkhangel. His attempt to make all things right, free the earth from the Spang, and survive the Big Man's daughter's quest for information on the female orgasm turns his hair from black to blond and propels us to a cataclysmic finale.

What a strange and bizzare world of extreme extremes. Extreme satire, extreme violence, extreme sex and surprisingly extremely entertaining!

I read this book originally the year after it came out. Bought it at Zellers in the discount bin.
Got it again this year, and wow, it is just as weird as I remembered.
There is some problematic language in the book, but it comes from horrible characters we are supposed to dislike, so it works.
The sex and violence level is such that there is no way I should have been reading it as a child; this book should probably have a warning label on it.
If you are an adult though and want to read a very weird, kind of disturbing, and rather entertaining book, this one could be for you. It is hard tracking down a copy though, so the hunt is part of the fun.
