All Hound wants is a little peace and quiet from life. A stay at the beach house is the perfect opportunity, but when he arrives, he sees Anne. From that moment, his thoughts are anything but peaceful. Anne has spent her life under the thumb of overbearing family members. Fed up with it, she orchestrates a getaway to show them, and herself, she's capable of a normal life. But Blake (Hound) invades her solitude and independence and makes her want the extraordinary. When the hurricane warnings come, Hound has a choice. Leave for safety, or ride it out with Anne. Will he choose Anne and take the chance at love or escape for safety?
We all know real life, real people, and real love aren't always roses and rainbows. I do my best to keep my characters, and their love, as real as possible, even if that includes an occasional stereotype or insta-love. Let's face it. Stereotypes exist for a reason, and love at first sight is a real thing.
So, if you're good with those things, and with: dirty-talking, overprotective alpha males as heroes, and strong, smart heroines; sexual tension and steamy sex scenes; a man willing to do anything, even kill, for the woman he loves (and sometimes the other way around)... Well, then you might love my books. If those things make you squeamish, these are definitely not for you.
In case you've just found me, I'm Aden, a male romance author in a female dominated world. I live in the south eastern US, in the middle of nowhere, with the wife of my dreams, Elyse. We have a few fur babies, and a horse named Joe.
2.75 stars.hmm so this was just ok for me. the h and H are good together but I needed their relationship more developed.I just couldn't connect at times. maybe if it was longer I could of had more time with them. other than that I like that it was different in the sense they are both wheelchair bound. safety: h is a virgin. of course H isn't but he hadnt been with anyone since his accident which was months ago. maybe some references that bothered ne like ,he never got complaints about sex.other than that it's completely safe.
Blake, known as Hound to his fellow Hell Raider MCs, is adapting to a new lifestyle. He’s still part of the club, but his ride these days is a wheelchair instead of a motorcycle. While regrouping at the beach, he meets Anne. She’s no stranger to life in a chair on wheels, but she has lead a sheltered 22 years.
I really appreciated the premise to this story. Having both the H and the h share a disability was unique and original and for the most part they didn't let it get them down. It was refreshing to see a disabled couple in romance with a positive presentation. The story has a lot of promise, but I definitely wish it would have been fleshed out more.
Told by their dual first person POV, Blake and Anne both present as interesting characters from different backgrounds but with shared circumstances and challenges. When Anne isn’t falling into the innocent virgin, won’t-utter-a-cuss-word troupe, and Blake isn’t going all alpha male pissing contest with her brother, they have a lot of potential. Too bad we didn’t see more of them working to make a life together. Instead the lust and love are insta.
While I was glad it avoided the angsty plot twists that generally befall the MC genre and the couple are exclusive, it missed other opportunities for tension and development. The circumstances of the hurricane for one. It doesn’t exactly advance the plot in any way. Like other parts of the story it’s rushed. It also requires some suspension of disbelief. (No one around them—her overprotective brother and his MC buddies— seems to know a category four hurricane is coming!)
With a good editor and proofreader (tense changes cropped up a few too many times), the story could definitely garner a much higher rating. None the less, if you’re looking for a short afternoon read, this is still an engaging one to pass the time.
Ride it Out By: Aden Lowe & Ashley Wheels 4/5 stars
Hound is relatively recently handicapped to his wheelchair ever since a drunk driver hit him on his motorcycle. As a brother in the Hell Raider MC, this has not been an easy transition for him. He feels like his usefulness to his club is limited to nothing physically related since he doesn’t have the use of his legs. He’s also kept to himself and doesn’t “make use” of the club girls, even when they offer. He thinks that that part of his life might be over. That is, until he sees a beauty on the beach, in her wheelchair.
Anne has been in a wheelchair for most of her entire life after she suffered a sickness as a baby & never fully developed the muscles necessary in her legs to support her. She’s also had to deal with overbearing family members her entire life who, give her no independence to live her life and treat her as though she couldn’t take care of herself. She’s fed up and wants to be able to be on her own. With the help of her brother, she goes to stay in their family beach house to try out independent living. She’s excited to be on her own and maybe a little nervous. But when she sees Hound, she’s attracted to him and wants to get to know him.
Hound & Anne start up a friendship which transitions into a relationship. Anne was completely innocent and Hound hadn’t wanted to be with anyone since his accident until he saw her. They do get to know each other & spend time together before a hurricane is headed their way and threatens their safety. That would be dangerous enough, but there are more complications for those confined to wheelchairs. But at least this will give them time to talk about club life and whether or not they will be able to go the distance.
I enjoyed this sweet romance, especially with the first-hand knowledge of life in a wheelchair and the challenges of everyday life that people with use of their legs don’t understand. One thing that would have helped was if the chairs had been described, because I had an idea in my mind and then a certain scene happened & I didn’t understand how it was physically possible until I thought of a different chair. Also, I don’t know if this novella is related to Aden Lowe’s Hell Raiders MC series or not, or if we’ll be seeing Hound & Anne in future books in that series or not. But I hope we do, because I really enjoyed them.
I was really looking forward to this story, it caught my attention and was sitting on my shelf for a while. Overall I was not impressed at all. Starting from the very beginning, the sequencing wasnt clear. I realized several times a new location/scene was occurring and no explanation was provided of the change, it made it very difficult to connect. Even the first chapter, Blake's thoughts were all over the place, combined with with the actual physical locations changing (even if only a room away) I couldn't follow the story. There was not any really character development, there were statements and an expectation of understanding- when much of it was trite and unoriginal. Up to the very last page, I just found it difficult to process a unique or sincere storyline.
The blurb on this is a little misleading, but this is a really pleasant, quick read. Very sweet, a little saucy. :) Anne & Blake's summer of quiet alone time at the beach turns into something more the minute they meet. And there were a couple surprises about them both that were rare plot points I don't see very often, and they get two thumbs up from me!
I enjoyed this story a lot, but there are definite editing issues that gave a few hiccups & the last chapter & epilogue are both a little abrupt, so that's the only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars for me! I just wished certain parts had been a little more fleshed out. All in all, tho, I would recommend this for a light, no angst read!! : )
Ride it Out, is sweet and sexy. The reader will fall in love with Blake and Anne. When the story starts both Blake and Anne, are trying to get away from people. They are both dealing with having to adjust to life living on their own, which is harder for them because the two of them are both in wheelchairs. Blake is in a MC called the Hell Raiders Tennessee. He needs to tell Anne about his life, but not sure how the sweet and quit girl will handle a rough and rowdy life style. Will Anne be able to handle Blake's lifestyle or will he lose the one thing that matters most to him. Aden Lowe and Ashley Wheels made a great team writing this book, I myself can't wait to see what they come up with next.
Loved this book!!! Once I started this book, I could not put it down. This book is about finding love against the difficulties and tragedy life van throw your way. This story highlightened the troubles faced by people in wheelchairs, it was cleverly written.
This is a sweet love story about a bad biker boy and a sweet girl. Who will overcome their problems to be together. This was a fantastic collaboration between these authors. I will look forward to more books by them!!!
I found the ending of the story and the epilogue short and abrupt, it would have been nice if more detail was here to end the story.
This is the best collaboration of authors around. I haven't read a book that was quite like this. I never knew the troubles that people in a wheelchair faced. It was eye opening.
Then there was the love story behind it all. It wasn't your typical boy meets girl love story. They faced opposition from Anne's brother & the fear of Blake's "brothers" not accepting Anne. He was a Harley driving bad boy before his accident. She was a virgin that reads romance novels that has an obsession with Taylor Swift.
This is a beautiful story about finding love when you least expected it! Blake is the guy that had it all and any girl he wanted until a tragic event changed his life. Anna is a sweet sheltered girl pushing to be independent. They have one specific thing in common...both are in a wheelchair. I love how Blake pulls Anna out of her shell and how Anna makes Blake believe in life again. This book is written well and you will be rooting for Blake and Anna all the way! The ending won't leave you disappointed!
I really enjoyed Anne and Blake's love story. They were characters with depth and believable situations. The writing made me hope for the best in their relationship, bite my fingernails with worry, wish I was on the beach where they were, want to punch out certain characters lights, excited reading the love scenes and misty over the tenderness and love between them. What more could you ask for in a romance? I hope the authors write more stories. I'd like to read more of their work.
I truly loved everything about this book. From the very first page I was completely engulfed in Blake (Hound) and Anne's story. The strength and love that they find in each other is heartwarming - touching my heart so much that I was still smiling about it days after I turned the last page. I highly recommend this book to anyone in the mood for a light, romantic read.
this a deffenetly a must read! This story is about to people (Hound /Blake and Anne ) from different worlds overcoming all the odds to find strength and love in each other. the fact that Blake /Hound is one of my beloved Hell Riders is just pure icing on the cake . A beautifully written love story that says it all, nothing is impossible if you really want it!
Blake and Anne's story is a cute love story - after being hit by a drunk driver Blake ends up in a wheelchair, he goes to the beach to get his head together and meets Anne who has been in a wheelchair all her life - working through each other's problems and learning requires that make each other unique leads to a lasting love. Enjoy
I really enjoyed this book. I loved following the love story of Blake and Anne. Anne's innocence throughout the story was awesome. She learns a lot from Blake about life while she teaches him to accept his new life. I definitely recommend this story.
Honestly, not sure what I expected but am glad I read and finished it. The obstacles that Blake and Anne had to endure should give the rest of us hope for the future. Can't wait to read the next book in this series.
In "Ride It Out", we have a H/h who are BOTH physically challenged, and their frustrations and obstacles are deftly portrayed without being preachy. People with disabilities are too often labeled, categorized...and invisible. This story shows what thinking, compassionate folks have always known - they're no different than anyone else.
Because of that, I wanted to love this story and cheer on Blake and Anne, but I never quite connected with either of them. I didn't feel the awe of new love, especially for sheltered virgin Anne. I didn't feel that connecting of souls when two people realize they've found their "one." For me, the story moved too fast and felt forced...and convenient. Anne is fighting for her independence from her loving, but extremely overprotective family who refuse to allow her to grow. Blake is searching for the man he was before the accident, and is determined to remain an asset to his MC, who are also a bit too quick to try to remove his physical obstacles. But when Blake tells Anne about his accident, she tells him, "I'm sorry, but not sorry. You wouldn't have noticed me, or considered talking to me before that happened." While Blake did not verbally respond, he admitted to himself she was right. I had to slam the Kindle shut behind that, and say, "Wait, what?" But now because YOU are in a wheelchair too, she's simply the most beautiful woman you've ever laid eyes on? *Credibility brick launched at Blake*
I also would have liked more of a sense of urgency with the hurricane...because, it's...you know...a HURRICANE. They were telling people to evacuate, but Anne refused to leave her chair. Again, I was rolling my eyes. I more than understand that for some, the chair is the difference between independence and depending on someone else for assistance, but she's in a tiny cottage on the beach and a hurricane is heading straight for them - this should not have been a hard decision because hurricanes come with a couple of things called death and destruction. *Credibility brick launched at Anne*
I was glad that Blake and Anne got their HEA and I was thrilled it was not immediate. I loved seeing time given for not only Blake and Anne to get to know each other better, but also for family and friends to get acquainted too. I'll bet future barbecues mixing the bikers and the suburbanites are a hoot! LOL!
I DO recommend this story. Books and the journeys they take us on are personal experiences, and where I didn't connect with certain aspects of the story, I more than sure others will.
Book: Ride It Out Authors: Aden Lowe and Ashley Wheels Genre: Contemporary Romance Reviewer: Nikki K Stars: 4
Blake’s life took a wrong turn one night on a dark road, but that wrong turn lead him on a path to his future. It leads him to Anne!
Known by his brothers in the MC as Hound, Blake never saw himself as a “white picket fence and a house with a dog” kind of guy. He never wanted an old lady let alone a wife. And when his life is forever changed by a tragic accident he certainly never saw those things being possible. But a trip to his condo on the beach to recover his spirit changes all of that.
Anne doesn’t live the life of an average 22-year-old woman. She still lives at home with her overprotective parents and is still doted on by her big brother, Adam. In an effort to prove to herself and the rest of the world that despite her limitations, she is capable of taking care of herself, she retreats to her family’s beach condo, alone. However, once Blake sees her sitting there in her yellow dress, she does not remain that way for long. Anne helps Blake to see that his life is not, in fact over; it is only really just begun.
Ride It Out is a story about surviving tragedy and emerging victorious, about love opening new possibilities and finally about seeing the beauty that is right in front of your face. Aden Lowe and Ashley Wheels have written a sweet love story that will lift the spirits of even the most jaded soul.
I enjoyed the story and the spirit of this book. However, I do wish it had been a tad more detailed. There are certain aspects of the story I felt needed a bit more elaboration. That being said, I think the underlying message is inspired. I would recommend this book to anyone needing a softer story with just a touch of sexy heat. I rate this book 4 stars.
**I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
A wonderful and well written book. This book finds us meeting Blake, also known as Hound to his friends, who belongs to a MC before his accident He was hit by a car, while riding his motorcycle, and is riding out the rest of his rehabilitation at a beach house. His biker friends have stocked up the house with supplies he would need to survive on and the foresight to put them on a level he could reach in his wheelchair. When he arrives at the beach house he notices a beautiful girl who is also in a wheelchair, and doesn't realize until later, that if he wasn't in a wheelchair himself, he most likely wouldn't have noticed her.
Anne is a young 22 year old mother who was told by her parents that she was in a wheelchair due to a bad reaction from a vaccine she was given at an early age. She doesn't believe them, but she doesn't put up a fuss either. The only reason she is in the beach house by herself is because her brother, Adam, who loves her very much, understands her need to at least try to live a somewhat independent life. He assures their parents that is spending time with friends, and then brings her to the beach house. He tells her that if he needs him he is only a phone call away, and he assures her he loves her every day that they speak on the phone.
This book is filled with a lot of laughter, and many tender moments. I hope these two authors enjoy many years to writing together, because I thoroughly enjoyed this book and hope you do also. Happy reading.
The story is told from dual points of view of Anne and Blake (Hound), both are confined to wheelchairs and both want to lead independent lives. After Blake's accident, he just wants to get away from it all, but then he meets Anne and things start to change. She gives him a spark and he begins to feel things again. Anne just wants to be normal and she wants to experience life and freedom away from her overprotective family. Once she meets Blake her desire for more is fueled by the feelings he awakens.
It was interesting to have the point of view from two characters who are bound to wheelchairs, but not defined by them. Their struggles with everyday activities made me think about all the things I take for granted. This was a quick sweet romantic read. I enjoyed this book, but gave it only 4 stars, because I wished the history of the characters was a little more developed. I just wanted more backstory for both of them. The story just seemed to go by so quickly. But other than that, it was a very good book with humor and romance
If you are looking for a sweet read with a bit of spice, Ride It Out is the book you need.
It is the story of Blake and Anne, who are both wheelchair bound, both through different circumstances. Each faces their own individual challenges but these two are two of the strongest characters I have read. Instead of letting adversity define them, they face it head on and persevere. We didn't see much of Hound's biker side, but honestly, we didn't need to. The focus was on how he was AFTER, not before. Anne is sweet. There is no other word for her. She's the type of girl that fairy tales need to come true for because she deserves it. Her naivety is actually quite endearing and makes her character. She handles her over protective brother with grace and barely a swear word- I would have been cussing him up one side and down the other!
Much kudos to Ashley for her debut! IT takes a lot of courage to write a novel and you did great! This is the second book of Aden's I have read and he is quickly becoming one of my favorite male authors. I can't wait to see what these two cook up for us in the next book of the series.
I was given a copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review. What a brilliant love story!!!! This book was truly amazing. At every page turn you where wondering if things were going to work out for Anne and Blake. I mean come on they have such different backgrounds can it really work? But I will let you read the book for that answer. Anne and Blake are both chasing the freedom to live and love without barriers that some people seem to think they have. There are obstacles that get in their way and well quite frankly can they overcome them? Will they get their happily ever after? Well I won't tell you that I will tell you that I can't wait for what's coming next. This book is great and i highly recommend it to all readers. It just warms your heart the way this book is written with love and understanding. So go now and one click this book or add it on you TBR list on goodreads.
Blake just wanted some peace and quiet, away from everything. He decides to spend a few weeks at the beach. Little did he know, he wasn't alone as he thought he was. Anne has gone to a nearby cottage for the summer, also to get away for some peace and quiet, away from her over-protective family. When Blake sees Anne on the beach, he can't believe such a beautiful woman is there alone. He instantly feels the need to know her name, and everything else about her. Anne is shy, but quickly warms up to Blake, and finds that she likes him quite a bit. Will Blake back off when he learns of her inexperience, or will he take pride in teaching her new things? Will Anne's brother, Adam accept Blake in her life, and ease up on his protectiveness? I enjoyed this book by Aden Lowe and Ashley Wheels, and look forward to reading more from them.
I recieved this book as a gift and i have to say i loved it, Aden Lowe and Ashley Wheels pulled it off working together as authors. I love Aden's work anyway as i have read all his books. From reading ride it out i am sure Ashley had a lot of input, Anne and Blake make a lovely couple and hopefully we will hear more about them in the next book as i understand it is to be a series. My only dissapointment was i thought it could have gone into more detail with how Anne intergrated with the members of the MC club, which Aden and Ashley subtly connected it to Aden's Hell raider series (which was a master stroke) but all in all it was a lovely romance with a bit of HOT stuff thrown in, i am looking forward to reading and getting to know more about Anne and Blake in the future.
* Book received in excharge for an honest review *
l couldn't wait to read this, I'm a big fan of Aden Lowe and when I learnt that he was co-authoring a book with a good friend of mine, Ashley Wheels, I knew it was going to be fabulous. And it definitely didn't disappoint.
This short (ish) story was remarkably beautiful. It was winter with the amount of emotion needed for a book like this. It's original & unique, heartfelt & emotional. The characters were next to perfect, detailed well and their personalities Spot on: Badass & Innocent, polar opposites but these sorts of characters are the ones that ignite the best. I love that there wasn't a heap of drama and it was just A stunning story that had me weeping like an idiot at the end.
Ride it out was a light Biker read in comparison to other Biker books. Blake is a wheelchair bound Bikie and meets Anne, also wheelchair bound, on the beach where both have gone to take some time out away from the stresses of life.
When they meet, there is an instant attraction and connection and it doesn't take long for them to act on it. Blake shows his soft side with Anne and Anne is trying hard to make it on her own over the summer without interfering Parents stifling her every move.
This is a quick, enjoyable read, full of humour, love and a tough Biker who falls for a sweet girl. Well done Aden and Ashley.
I was lucky enough to be given this book as a gift and oh boy what a beautiful story. Blake and Anne live very different lives but have two things in common, one thing being that they are fed up with being mommy coddled by those around them. This is a stunning love story of finding strength to deal with the hand that fate has dealt you and finding love where you least expect it. I loved this story it was emotionally moving, the story flowed brilliantly and include some steamy, slightly dominant scenes and you have this story that will leave you wanting to read more. Thank you Aden Lowe and Ashley Wheels for this great colaboration, I eagerly await to read your next joint venture.
I enjoyed this short, sweet story of Anne and Blake. These two couldn't be more different from the other. Anne is a petite, young woman, innocent and sweet as the day is long. Blake is a big, bad biker yet they share something in common. They're both in wheelchairs. Anne and Blake's story is sweet, I smiled quite a bit while reading. It's refreshing to read a romance featuring people who don't fit the cookie cutter model mold that you find in other romance novels. Ride It Out is much more true to life in that fact. I loved how the characters engaged with each other, Blake seemed to get Anne out of her shell a bit and Anne brought out Blake's gentle side.
This was a nice, sweet story if you want something quick to read. I loved the characters & the story behind them but sometimes it felt a little rushed. I think it would be a really good read if it was more in depth. Anne was quite funny being all innocent & cute but the sex scenes were HOT. Panties will melt. Just saying. I also loved that there was a HEA ending. I was kind of worried where the story was going, that it may have been heading towards a cliffy, but it didn't. Thanks for that Ashley & Aden. LOL!
Blake and Anne's story is not your typical love story with both characters in the book having a disability. After a drunk driver causes Blake to end up in a wheelchair he has some difficulty adapting to his new status. At his beach house he encounters anne and although somewhat shy and naive she captivates Blake and soon they embarke on a relationship full of passion and lust. This was a throughly enjoyable story and I absolutely loved it. Well done on your first novel together Ashley and aden hope it's the first of many xxx
