Even though Ruby feels like a normal pixy, there is one thing that sets her apart; she doesn't have any wings. After her mother tells her of the Oracle, a magical place where visitors can have a single question answered, the young pixy sets out on a dangerous journey to locate the mysterious place. Carrying only a magic dagger, her grandfather's map and an enchanted pack, and accompanied by her ornery older sister, Ruby encounters numerous monsters and overcomes multiple trials in her quest to gain the one thing she desires most; wings.
This would be a good read for kids. It felt like a conglomeration of Star Wars (wyrms), the Tree house Fairy books (Ruby the red fairy), Tinker Bell (pixie dust/pixie hollow), Willow (dark fairies), Fablehaven (the pack),The Neverending Story, etc.
It was pretty impressive for a first time author though.
If I hadn't been regularly thinking to myself, "that was in..." or "that's just like..."I would've enjoyed it more.
