I got a lot out of the first half of this book, which talks about the ease in which one should mediate and helped me give up the notion of "taming the monkey mind." I haven't finished it because one, I couldn't fit it into my backpack to bring with me to south america and two, because after the fifth the chapter he starts talking about how you can't learn to do it without seeking out a teacher, a practice which nowadays will set you back 1500 dollars (for the first session).

Really insightful book it just doesn't explain or describe the TM technique - it explains the philosophy & history behind transcendental meditation.

Although the theory and background was interesting, I was left wanting to learn more about the actual technique.
