To avoid being expelled for her own unruliness, Chiemi Yusa must get her classmate, Akitumi Hirata, known as the "Deranged Devil," to behave, but when she talks to him it turns out that fighting each other is the last thing they want to do.
I really liked this. I liked this way more than I probably should have. haha. It's funny, corky, and oddly, full of action. I esp love the leading couple. They are adorable!
This is my type of manga. (Or one of my favorite types) It's light and fluffy and it's made me laugh way more than once. The ship is hilarious but not very complicated at all. They seriously got together in the first volume after all. I can't help but love this though, as the comedic properties it has defeats it all. Have I ever mentioned I'm a sucker for comedy? So even though it's not the most complex ship with all the hardships like I usually like... it's got the comedy that I've always been looking for in those complex ships. So yes, I really do love this one... far more than I thought I would actually.
I loved this it had me laughing. This story is about Chiemi Yusa who is always getting in trouble for fighting. Her teacher gives her an option that if she can get her classmate Akifumi Hirata to come to school and clean up his act she will wipe Chiemi records clean. She accepts and immediately goes after Hirata with a flying kick to get him to stop fighting. There where many things that made me laugh. I loved Hirata little brother when Hirata was carrying him home from school.
i will never shut up about how perfect it was at first; perfect delinquent couple balance and then stupid 'crazy girl' trope gets in the plot cuz the 'plot needed it' IT DIDNT LET COUPLES BE HAPPY AND NORMAL
Halfway into the book, the story and main characters were interesting but it seemed like the characters got together a little early. And it's only the first volume. Anyway, still liked it though. Reminds me of another manga called Oresama Teacher. Good start.
Someone on twitter recommended this to me and I can see why. It's absolutely hilarious.
The first volume centres on Chiemi, a high school student who is in danger of being expelled due to her violent tendencies and fluctuating grades. As an ultimatum, her teacher states that she can remain in school if she can reform fellow student Hirata Akifune, a delinquent and frequent non-attender.
The first book mainly involves Chiemi leaping out of windows to stop Hirata from doing things that will jeopardise his school career and it's laugh-out-loud funny. As the two get to know each other romantic interests begin to develop and eventually, after much fumbling, drama and hilarious shenanigens, the two decide to date.
Although a slightly older manga now, whose values about relationships are somewhat outdated and old-fashioned, I enjoyed reading this for the sheer comedy value. The drama is petty but strangely engaging and the main characters are really likeable. I'll definitely be continuing with this series, just to see what antics Chiemi and Hirata get up to next.
In this one, we’ve got a brawler of girl—Chiemi—whose sense of justice refuses to allow her to let any slights go paired with the high school bad boy with a heart of gold—Hirata.
These two have such a fun, engaging dynamic. I really love their chemistry on the page, particularly their banter. The two of them play off each other so well and it’s so satisfying to read—both the cute moments and the action-packed sequences. They are such a balanced match and I am really looking forward to watching their relationship develop.
Also, I just want to say that it’s refreshing to have a main character/love interest with some melanin. Hirata has a noticeable tan—which is so incredibly rare for shojo as a whole, especially early shojo. While some series may have POC characters as part of the cast, they are rarely main characters, let alone the primary love interest. Super cool to see.
Anyway, definitely recommend this series for romance readers who enjoy their characters to be a little feisty~
Fight your way to the finish...on the track of love!! Ahhh, I liked this volume so much. It has everything I look for in a manga (the fighting, the funny faces, the art style, the comedy, the romance), it's like if shoujo and shonen had a baby. The two leads are so damn likable which I needed because all the shoujo I've been reading lately has been...let's just say the characters have been so hard to root for. But Love attack is different! I swear! The first meeting was sooo cute and their first date was even cuter. Chiemi and Hirata complement each other very well and their friends are just as funny. I find it hilarious that her kick made him fall in love with her. I will be definitely reading the entire series. I'm rooting for this couple so hard and hopefully, the plot doesn't let me down. Might I add, this story is very similar to the manga 'Pretty Face' as well. It does not have as much fanservice but is equal in comedy and lead characters. Can't wait to read volume 2! <3
CW: Cousin romance (Not the main couple), Homophobia
3.5 rounded up to 4.
This was a fun first volume. I find the main couple very intriguing and feisty. I love their dynamic. The only thing I didn't like was that the main character's cousin acts like he's interested in her. The characters talk about it, and it seemed like unnecessary drama. I also didn't like how at the end of the volume the cousin kisses the male love interest of the series, and then the characters comment about how gross it is. It made me uncomfortable, despite knowing that kids would most likely react that way. Overall, I still liked it and I'll read the other volumes I have.
This is a reread and I read it so long ago, that I don't remember anything about nor if I liked it. I boxed it up for a move, years ago, and just now found it. So, thought that I'd take it for a spin. Wish that I hadn't, a waste of an hour and half. Ugh.
I enjoy manga, all different kinds, but, this one was just okay. I sort of enjoyed the beginning, liked the cutie romance, but, the end of it? The cousin? That was just blah. Am not getting the next in the series. My daughter likes it, she can have it. My advice, find a different manga, there are better ones out there.
The progression of Chiemi and Hirata’s relationship throughout this first volume went at a good pace. Some of my favorite moments were when Chiemi was getting to know Hitata and she started to see him in a different light. It was cute how different and sweet Hirata would be with Chiemi compared to their other classmates.
Mizuki (Chiemi’s cousin) was really annoying. I understand why Hirata was getting a little jealous over their relationship. The way Mizuki was constantly hanging off of Chiemi and being whiny was tiring. Mizuki kissing Hirata at the end was a surprise though.
I had no idea what this was when I picked it up from my local library. Boy was I surprised! This story hooked me from the very beginning! The art is good and the characters are so adorable! I love Hirata! He is my kinda guy! Cannot wait to find every single volume of this series and binge read it. I heard the series was cancelled, so that really really sucks, but I still want to collect it so I can experience this all over again💕 it was so good.
I had read this years ago, maybe 2012-2013 when I was still a pre-teen. I definitely can see why I liked it then.
Funny enough, I had recently thought about this and wanted to re-read it because I had such a great time reading it back then. I think the author does a great job capturing what a teenage (high school) relationship can entail. Especially if it is their first relationship ever.
I can see why I loved this as a teen. As an adult it's not super well written, the violence is over the top. There is one scene I absolutely don't agree with, about a magazine on sex recommending the girl that she should be worried her man has waited too long, that's definitely not something that should be taught to a young female audience..
I haven't read a manga in a while, so this was a very nostalgic read for me. I don't read about teens in high school anymore because they frustrate me, but I enjoyed this story because it was humorous and I really like this author's style, art and writing. I'll read a few more.
Hmmm I’m not sure how I feel about this so far🧐 I’m a big fan of slow burns and getting together in the first ch was wayyyy to fast for me. And the cousin thing was weird, the male lead the only one with common sense.
Honestly I’d give this like a 3.5. It’s not a bad story it just feels stuck in the early 2000s with all the male stereotypes and female Princess syndrome tropes. Not sure this one has exactly aged well. It was a fun read though. Small text throughout the story was brutal on my eyes. 😹
Today I have an action romantic comedy for you. A big stress on the action word! It’s a completed series, however, on mangafox there are only 2 more chapters left to be uploaded. I’ve been waiting for them for more than 6 month, when I found it just recently completely translated and uploaded on the a Russian website. The ending is somehow not ending, and I got why, because there is a sequel, which I cannot find anywhere. However, there’s a bonus as to what happened, as the author made a spin off about Chiemi’s and Akifumi’s kid. So everything ended pretty well.
But let me get back to the story itself. I laughed too much while reading. I mean it; every page cracks you up so much your tummy will hurt. Mine hurt so much; I had to take some painkillers, kidding. The story is fun and if in other similar mangas, either a boy or a girl is a delinquent, here both of those are delinquent. Just look at this page:

Have you ever heard someone say “Love can be a real battle field”? Well, “ Love Attack” takes that phase to the extreme in a hilarous way. With the kick but characters the story comes to life. The hint of comedy puts this story in a crazy spin of amazement. The setting just sets the whole story up for laughs.
To start things off the characters give the story a splash of life. The characters in this story are wild and make plans on a drop of a dime. The main two character are very crazy and voilent. The girl fight for justice, while sometime her "justice" goes to far. The boy is the head of a gang, while his heart is so sweet.
Next is the comedy which is the body of the whole story that makes the moves. This start will keep you laughing to the cows come home and after that too. Somethings that that the characters will say will make bust a gut in laughing. It is filled with crazy, funny violence that makes you just want to keep reading. Just when you think the story can't get any funnier it does, like a punch in the face.
Last but not least is the setting, which is the heart of this story. The setting makes the story come to life and makes it very interesting.Thee setting of this story is a playful high school that lets the students to do anything. The setting of this story is the school the main characters go to, which the story filled of puppy love.
To wrap things up this story is a new, young, fun, vibrant, twist on life. The characters, comedy, and setting makes the story comes to life with fun amazement. Read “ Love Attack” and see how real the phase “Love can be a real battle field” really is.
Omfg I fucking love this book. It was just so freaking hilarious I was in pain NOT KIDDING MY STOMACH HURT SO BAD FROM SOO MUCH LAUGHTER. I remember it like it was yesterday. It was a sunday and I found it from looking through the authors list of mangas they made (because I was reading one of their mangas) then I stumbled upon this MASTERPIECE. And read it the wholeeeee day. Literally. Not only was the heroine strong which is what I was looking for but funny as hell. Omg I was dying, and hirata being sweet put up with her. Gosh I got mad when she kept getting mad at hirata like for real. And when you think hes finally gonna snap and kill her he surprises you and does the opposite. The romance was great but the comedy was just..... wow. Just so out of this world maybe from the land of comedy. The art was great. The facial expressions were the ones that made me lol so hard. Especially when hirata got mad and turned into satan because of his jealousy like Oh my god, I couldnt breathe. The side coupling was good too. It was a breather to see another couple brewing that were actually normal. Chiemi and hirata are one of the best couples Ive read. Like god. This manga is in my top favs. Maybe even number one. If you want hilarious moments this is the book for you
Oh my god this manga is right up my alley! Where else can you find two protagonists with anger management issues, who both like to solve things with their fists more so than talking, who fall in love with each other????
Chiemi's teacher threatens to have her expelled from school for fighting. However, the teacher knows that she is starting fights because she is trying to force people to stop bully and harassing other people. She beating the crap out of them like a vigilante....sigh so awesome. the teacher's solution? Well if Chiemi can get Hirata to attend class semi-regularly, she will wipe her record clean. Cue Chiemi trying to fix problems with her fists!
Thing is, Hirata likes her brawling ways and asks her to go out with him...
Library Status
Unfortunately this manga is a little older and it's nothing spectacular so I'm probably not going to order if for my library. As much as I like it...
In Conclusion
Love Attack is a funny, kind of unrealistic comedy romance duo that is a nice fluffy read. Also reminds you not to judge all books by their covers. You really don't know about people (I mean books) until you talk to (I mean read) them. Cute fluff manga read.
What can I say, I love Shizuru Seino! Her series Heaven!! was a little weird, but I love Girl Got Game and this one is off to a great start too. Must have more!
Love Attack has an atypical heroine - she's a violent punk who's always starting fights. When a teacher tells her she's about to be expelled, she offers a deal - straighten up the school's worst fighter, Akifumi Hirata, and get your record wiped clean! Chiemi is the only one who's tough enough to deal with Hirata - nicknamed the Deranged Devil - but what happens when he decides he likes a girl with a killer roundhouse kick?
This first volume made me laugh my butt off. Recommended!
I definitely recommend this manga series c: Briefly saying: I just liked it a lot because it was super funny, I was cracking up the entire time while reading, and the premise of it is really cute and simply. Between Chiemi and Hirata, their love story is super cute and whimsical and because of each one's timidness for the other, I'm smitten with them.
The art work is pretty well done, no one's hands or necks are too long and no one looks anatomically incorrect- and also how the artist portrays all the funny scenes of the characters is also done successfully so.
Appllauuseeee ^^
I enjoyed reading this and I shall continue reading this series!
The female protagonist of this book is deviant from the norm. She is tough and not really girly. So far this book is really funny. Sometimes the artwork can be a little bit exaggerated, but overall they look hilarious. I feel like this book has more funny moments than romance. I own a couple of volumes of this series. One of the bad things about buying the books is that the books get thinner and thinner as the manga goes on. I would definitely recommend this book if you liked Tail of the Moon (which is also comedy and romance as well as action).
